Seminar contents
Detailed knowledge about refrac-
tory materials as well as optimized
installation methods are crucial for
the operation of cement and lime
kilns. Therefore it is important that
the personnel involved in refrac-
tory linings can rely on a broad
knowledge related to refractories.
The training seminar is customized
for refractories used in the cement
industry with following main
objectives:
• transfer of basic knowledge
about refractory materials, the
necessary raw materials involved
as well as their processing and
handling to produce refractory
bricks and castables,
• theoretical as well as practical
instruction of the best practice
of brick and castable installation
in rotary kilns and corresponding
aggregates,
• comprehensive information
about quality and test methods
applied during the production of
refractory materials and
• comprehensive information
about all kinds of wear phenom-
ena impacting refractory materi-
als during kiln line operation.
Seminar participants
In order to achieve a highest pos-
sible training success the number
of participants in seminars as
such is limited to a maximum of
24 persons which could come from
a wide range of positions within
their plants. The participiants
are mainly in charge as a plant or
production manager, as their assis-
tants or as kiln master / shift lead-
er responsible for the selection,
storage or installation of refractory
materials.

3. The trainers
The trainers are engineers and
technicians with many years of
experience in the refractory field,
especially in the cement and lime
industry.
Lectures
The seminars are structured in such
a manner that in the morning of a
seminar day the theorethical part
will be presented. State-of-the-art
equipment is available located in a
special seminar room.
Practical exercises
The practical part of our seminars
takes place predominately within
the afternoon hours. In order to
demonstrate and exercise the
­different installation techniques
of refractory materials in different
kiln aggregates a show-jumping
course has been set up.

The presentations given during
each seminar as well as related
information material will be
handed over to each participant
at the end of the event.
After successful seminar partici-
pation and a final test participants
will receive a certificate related
to the particular seminar topics.
