Reflection Paper On Anthropology
When I first began taking Anthropology at the beginning of the semester, I was not exactly sure what to expect. I quickly learned anthropology is a
topic that covers a little bit of everything. We began the semester with learning about different cultures, to medicine, and all the way to race and
ethnicity. For every career field, there is always something to learn from anthropology that pertain to specific jobs. Anthropology teaches the employee
fields the background of various cultures they might encounter and teaches them how to communicate with different types of people. As a nursing
major, there are so many units I can use to help better myself in my career field. There are so many topics that have had an impact on me as I prepare
for my future. Not only has the medical and healthcare units impacted me, but also the cultures and communication help me get a better understanding
of other people and how to respond to their culture. The very first unit was all about culture. I learned exactly what culture is and what makes up a
culture. I found it very interesting at how many different cultures there are. Even in the West Georgia area, there are so many different cultures around
us. I had never realized just how diverse this small college down is. Many times, at the beginning of the unit, I thought that this unit would not have as
much to do with me because I assumed we were all similar. While that may be true to a certain extent, the culture we grow up in play major roles

Personal Integration Reflection Paper
My Personal Integration is about, self–awareness, learning to accept, and treat myself with unconditional positive regard. I must do this before I can
do the same for others. By making the subconscious conscious as in Psychodynamic Counselling I will integrate with myself and be okay with who I
am.
From an Ethical viewpoint, If I don't know myself, how can I help myself? If I can't help myself how can I help a client? It would be unethical to
counsel a client laden with unresolved personal issues. Using the Johari Window, has helped me with continuous learning and growth. Recently my
daughter told me that she finds me more understanding and easier to talk to. Hearing how people perceive me is very interesting even if it is not
what I like to hear. I have always found it hard to accept compliments, feeling unworthy. I accepted criticism easier, feeling inferior to other people,
thinking I probably deserved it, this stems from my self–worth. With personal development helping me to be more comfortable with myself I now
accept compliments and criticism if it is warranted. I will explore the reasons behind any criticism to see if I can learn from the experience.
I realise the importance of therapy for myself and clinical supervision when I start practising counselling as these are very important factors in
supporting me to gain new perspectives: Nelson–Jones points out the importance of supervision:
"Graduation from a counselling or counselling psychology course does not in itself mean you are an accredited practitioner. To obtain accreditation, you
will be required to accumulate a set number of hours of supervised counselling practice. Afterwards, to maintain your accreditation, you may be
required to have ongoing supervision (as with the British Association for Counselling) regularly accumulate continuing professional development
points by attending conferences, workshops and training courses." Nelson–Jones R. (2003).
To be integrated or congruent I must be aware of my values, prejudices and personal issues which can affect my perspective. Self–doubt has affected
me since childhood, raised by devout Catholic parents I was expected to be 'good' and 'do the right thing', 'don't show temper','

Essay about the human brain
In this paper one will learn the different parts of the brain and their functions. Although the brain isn't the largest organ of the human body it is the most
complex and controlling organ. It is amazing how complicated the brain is. The brain controls every action within and out of your body. The brain has
main areas that contain different areas that have specific functions. For instance the basal ganglia holds the lentiform and the caudate.
The brain isn't just "THE BRAIN" it is actually a group of many parts. They help to inform the brain on the things going on with the human body. The
brain is split in to two main parts, the left and the right hemisphere. The left hemisphere has about the same areas as the right hemisphere. The only

The corpus callosum is a bundle of nerves that connects the two hemispheres. The area that passes and processes information concerning touch, pain,
temperature, and pressure on skin is the thalamus. The limbic system controls your behavior and emotions. It is involved in emotions such as fear,
rage, pleasure, and sorrow. In the prefrontal area of the frontal lobe emotional traits are controlled. In the temporal lobe expressed behavior is
controlled. The parietal lobe discriminates sensory. The occipital lobe is where visual interpretation takes place. Pons is a crossroad for nerves going
up to the cortex, to the cerebellum and then down the spinal cord. The cortex is the outer gray area where thinking takes place. The olfactory cortex
receives senses from the nose that it then sorts out. The area that identifies what we see by working out movements, colors, and shapes is the visual
cortex. The area that receives taste senses is called gustatory cortex. The area responsible for analyzing data, performing memory functions, learning
new information, forming thoughts, and making decisions is the cerebral cortex. The motor cortex is involved in muscle movement. The cerebellum is
vital when carrying out complicated, skilled movements. It is much like a mini brain.
If before you read this paper you thought the brain was a "one man machine" I'm sure your opinion has changed after reading his paper. It is amazing
how god has created the brain to have so many areas

Essay On Privilege
What is privilege? Privilege is the advantages that you are given. Privilege is often taken for granted by the people who have it because they didn't
necessarily ask for it. Privilege is given to you depending on where you live, what you look like, how much money you have, what gender you are, or
even your last name. Yourrace and ethnicity have a lot to do with how you are treated in society.
Race and ethnicity can get confusing and people often use them interchangeably. They are alike because race and ethnicity share common ancestry.
But, they differ because race is a persons' physical characteristics; race can be seen in skin, hair, and eye color. Whereas ethnicity is the culture;
ethnicity is ancestry, religion, and nationality. When majority of people look the same, it can cause problems for the people who are different, the
minority.
The majority usually has preset opinions on how the minority should act, talk, or look. These opinions are called prejudices and are not fact based.
Prejudices thoughts are also sometimes called stereotypes. Prejudice and stereotypes are different from each other because a prejudice is a feeling

Being a white male in America, you're basically the golden egg. Men have privileges such as making more money compared to women – especially

Bethalto, Illinois I've had people come into Roma's and before tipping, they ask me what my last name is. When I tell them, I usually get a bigger

dad is a lawyer. My family has lived in Bethalto and the surrounding towns their entire lives – everyone knows

Experience Of Writing
Writing, it has it's good, and it's bad. Regardless of who you are however, you have had an experience with it. College, High School, Middle
School, etc. We all have written something at some point in our lives. Personally I haven't been exposed to massive amounts of writing outside of
school although, I do enjoy writing songs. There's many different types from Novels, Poetry, Music, all the way to texting. Most people I feel
enjoy writing and as do I. I enjoy writing for a few reasons,One. It allows me to relieve stress or anything on my mind and keep sane. I have a journal
to keep track of days for later memories and I add to it every day. I have a few experiences worth sharing as well. One of my first experiences
seriously writing is when, I was in Highschool, and had to write a speech. I spent four days writing this speech. Although it wasn't what you would
call outstandingly fun. The speech was for my graduation on the last day of school BSEP. BSEP was a project all seniors had to complete and pass to

I began writing songs about a year ago. The drive really came out of nowhere I wasn't in a very good place emotionally. Since I was feeling kind of
down I began to write songs mostly R&B and as well as Hip Hop. Writing these however doesn't require much punctuation. I write a lot of songs,
and I have compiled about 30 total in the past year. I get a lot of good feedback from the people who have heard them but I am very skittish about
singing in front of people. I mostly do it for self satisfaction in my own head it helps me relax. I'm also building a skill that might one day turn out to

LEADERSHIP HISTORY Contingency Theories (CT)
5
CT interpret effective leadership as affected by situational variables, including the followers, work environment and tasks, and the external
environment (Daft, 2005, p.111). CT includes Fiedler's proposal of predominance and interaction between relationship or taskoriented leadership
styles, as well as Hersey and Blanchard's focus on the characteristics of followers as producing favorable or unfavorable results, followed by the
path–goal theory, Vroom Jago model, and substitutes–for–leadership approaches. If the leader understands how to properly interrelate with situational
variables, the possibilities for success would be maximized. Influence Theories Leaders are challenged to persuade followers effectively integrating
power and influence. Followers should be motivated, shaped and guided through Charismatic Leadership, "influence based...on the qualities and
personality of the leader." (Daft, 2005, p.24). Bolman and Terrence (1991) identify four Leader worldviews that influence this approach: Structural,
Human Resources, Political and Symbolic perspectives. The balanced perspective of leaders is directly related to Leadership vision to produce the best

Essay on My Day
My Day I wake up every morning with a shock, my mum knocking at the door and shouting,
"Time for a shower." I'm always tired in the mornings and find getting up for a shower really horrible, though it does a good job of waking me up and
after it I'm ready for another day at school. Well that is what I think but I usually end up in bed asleep right up until 7.45 am. Luckily I have usually
packed my school stuff the night before.
My house is quite big and there is lots of room to get away from the rest of my family. I have a computer in my room and I spend quite a lot of time on

Another couple of friends arrive at this house too and we all get together and walk to school. This walking to school together gives me a good
opportunity to make after school arrangements. Once at school (the walk takes about 15 minutes) I go to my tutor base and catch up with my friends
who don't walk to school with me. After a short rest I make my way to my first lesson on a Monday usually English.
English requires a lot of work and its quite interesting. All year it's work, work, work, which is hardly surprising seeing that it's GCSE year. I'm going
to need to work hard because qualifications are a necessary part of any career and I definitely want a career not just a job.
After the first two lessons I usually eat my lunch. It may seem strange that I eat my lunch at break but it takes so much time queuing at lunchtime just
so I can sit down and eat some food that I would rather eat my packed lunch early freeing up time at lunch for other activities. The only downside to
this is that you have lots of people surrounding you begging for food. Most people would probably just say "No", but I have real problems with
saying "No" and more often than not half my food is devoured by these hungry beasts.
Once break is finished I work until the real lunch time and then I hang around the common room or go to the library and do

What is Morality? Essay
What is Morality?
Philosophers around the world have debated the meaning of morality for centuries. However, it is a word too subjective to be either denoted or
defined. Aristotle, often referred to as the father of philosophy, advised that one could determine what is moral by examining the mean between two
"less desirable" extremes. For example, courage is a mean between fear and thoughtless rashness; generosity, between extravagance and parsimony.
Plato argued that "to know the good is to do the good." In other words, those who behave immorally due so out of mere ignorance, not defiance.
Furthermore, Plato believed that a moral person is a truly happy person; and because people always desire their own happiness, they always...show more

This reward system trains us to believe that what is legal is moral. Although a person may be a law–abiding citizen, he or she may not necessarily be
moral.
The morality of an individual is also based on his or her childhood. Parents have an immense effect on their children's values. For instance, if parents
teach their child at early ages to be a hard–worker, to be honest and true, and to have integrity, then it is likely that the child will grow up with these
morals instilled within them. However, some children grow to be the antithesis of their parents. They see that their parents are immoral and so they
intentionally grow to think and behave differently. If so, is the child immoral for defying his or her parents, or is the child moral for defying his or her
immoral parents?
Another factor in determining one's morals is one's religiosity. For instance, some religions, such as Hinduism, believe in animal sacrifices as a way of
worshiping; however, other religions, such as Catholicism, do not. Thus, to a Catholic, the sacrifice of innocent animals may seem immoral whereas
followers of the Hindu religion view the practice as sacred. Therefore, one cannot conclude that simply because a person is religious, he or she is also
moral. There are thousands of religions throughout the world; who has the authority to determine whose

Essay on Writing Experience
My Writing Experiences My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the basics of writing, like putting together sentences,
forming paragraphs with sentences, and things like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the
future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers, documents, and stories so that I have very little to no

goals are to write papers and not have to reassure myself that maybe I need to do more research or have more data or even have to rethink my
whole topic over. I would love to have the knowledge to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs,
essays, and maybe even books. To have excellent skills in writing will definitely be a great advantage in my nursing profession. In nursing, I will

Reflection Paper About English Composition
English Composition I has developed my style of writing and my skills analyzing and researching topics to write a piece about a topic. Throughout
the course, I got better at analyzing articles and pieces to get the meaning of the topic. With that improved skill I was more able to use the

with the revisions Mr. Heldenfels made in the draft, I still made mistakes with mechanics and tense shits. I had written comma splice and has several

Reflection Paper On Marketing
At the beginning of this class, my main objective was to learn more about finance and learn about marketing. When I first review the class's syllabus,
I thought this class would be mainly about marketing and investments, but I was glad to find out that the class was about more than just marketing. I
would definitely say that I met my objectives and even more because I learned more than I was expecting. This class helped developed a security

Germany is the fourth largest country in area in

addition to coastline and mountains, the varied

Several navigable rivers traverse the uplands, and

How To Write A Paper Airplane Essay
Paper Airplanes
My heart sunk as I stared at the empty page crumple into nothingness. My hands intricately folded the blank paper and formed an airplane. My hand

anything.
For ages, I walked around the room, trying to conjure a thought that I could build something off of. Sadly, I found nothing.
I need something. I need one word. One word will send me to this epiphany of lyrics, an epiphany of poems, and then an epiphany of stories, upon
stories, upon stories. I just need one thing. Just one. Unfortunately, I had nothing.

was mush.
I grabbed another piece of paper. I folded it into an intricate paper airplane. I drew my hand back and let it soar into the pile with the others.
But, it didn't land. It caught wind and flew out the window. I'm not sure where it went. I'm not sure where the wind came from. I'm not sure how this
happened.
All I know is that while watching the paper airplane fly out the window, I thought of something. I thought of something creative, innovative, good, and
different. I had an idea. A word. Something that sparked this energy within me.
This common word was something I should've thought of before. It was something that should've come to mind, but I guess I didn't think about it. I
guess I should've. Because while folding that last airplane, I thought of one word. My imagination went wild.

Conflict Essay
CONFLICTS AND DISPUTES ARE INEVITABLE Conflict is defined as the behaviour due to which people differ in their feelings, thought and/or
actions. Collins (1995) states that the conflict is a 'serious disagreement and argument about something important' and also as 'a serious difference
between two or more beliefs, ideas or interests' (cf. Kumaraswamy, 1997, p. 96). In general it is believed that conflicts are the underlying cause of
disputes. In other words, dispute is a manifestation of the deep rooted conflict. A dispute is defined as 'a class or kind of conflict, which manifests
itself in distinct, justifiable issues. It involves disagreement over issues capable of resolution by negotiation, mediation or third party adjudication'

management. Conflicts are ubiquitous where ever a large number of people are involved i.e. where the human relationships proliferate
(Kumaraswamy, 1997). People are the principle resource for any commercial project today. Different project managers, engineers, surveyors
belonging to different organizations and having different needs, goals and each of them looking to maximize their benefits are brought together to
form a team. Because of these differences in the individuals the conflicts and disputes become inevitable in a project. Conflicts are generally
perceived as a negative term but it has both positive and negative sides. Positive conflicts can be helpful to generate new ideas, make innovations,
helps people to 'Be real' and creative. But this conflict has to be maintained so that it does not get out of control and bring about dysfunctional
consequences. There are large numbers of potential sources that makes conflict inevitable in a project. Some of them are explained below: – (scribd) It

Perseverance Essay
What is perseverance? Perseverance is the ability to go on when things seem hopeless. It is also a measure of success, or at least how much sacrifice
one is willing to make in the name of success. As students, it is impossible to achieve personal success without having a goal, or direction. The goal
and direction that often propels us to achieve is perseverance. Perseverance is the ability to forge ahead despite setbacks that threaten to undermine all
efforts to succeed.

There is no shame in falling; the shame is in accepting the the fall as defeat. Nelson Mandella once said, "The greatest glory in living lies not in never

out.
Each day is a challenge for some of us. Some of you struggle to get up each morning and make it to school. But you find it within yourself to do
because the hope of a better tomorrow compels you to do so. It is not easy to explain to teachers or other students that there was no one to wake
you up and see that you were ready for school. The moment you leave your house and step on the bus, you are one step closer to realizing your
dream, to fulfilling your purpose. That is what perseverance is. It is the finding the strength to do the impossible because you know that all things
are possible. It is understanding that your tomorrow has great possibilities because of the steps you take today. I had a neighbor whose parents were

to make lasting relationships, and to socialize with other people. It is important that children are given the opportunity to be around other children
so that they can acquire vital communication and social skills. "Even with siblings, you can't match the opportunities for social interaction that a

for just even a couple hours a week she can be around other children and have a socialization experience she will emotionally need while being
around others her own age. This is a valuable experience that we can't give her at home. Doctor Heins suggests, "Play is very important, but the

My Writing Experience
Reading and writing has always created a sense of understanding for me in my art. Reading in the literal sense is a way that we understand text or

through this I was able to create more structured ideas. However, the formation of a structurally sound essay that contains writing that flows was
extremely difficult for myself. Fluidity was a challenge throughout my time in this course, but is was also something that created a better voice in my
writing. The understanding of reading and writing in this course was extremely meaningful for me and made a huge impact on my writing overall.
Writing motivates me and inspires me in my own work to create stories and share with others what I feel is memorable and should be shared. Although
it may never be something perfect, writing is something I wish to continue improving on and creating in order to share with

Loneliness Essay
To be lonely is an easy thing, being alone is another matter entirely. To understand this, first one must understand the difference between loneliness
and being alone. To be alone means that your are not in the company of anyone else. You are one. But loneliness can happen anytime, anywhere. You
can be lonely in a crowd, lonely with friends, lonely with family. You can even be lonely while with loved ones. For feeling lonely, is in essence a
feeling of being alone. As thought you were one and you feel as though you will always be that way. Loneliness can be one of the most destructive
feelings humans are capable of feeling. For loneliness can lead to depression, suicide, and even to raging out and hurting friends and/or...show more

Generally almost all loneliness can be traced back to low or below "average" self–esteem. Chronically lonely people will usually have low opinions of
themselves. They may think of themselves as unintelligent, unattractive, broken, unwanted, not worthy of good things, no good, unable to do anything
right, and/or socially isolated. Unlike many other emotionally hurting people, the chronically lonely usually know what is wrong, but like many others
they don't believe they can do anything to fix it, or, circling back to the low self–esteem, they may also believe they are not worth of happiness.
It takes the strong support of a good friend(s) or other loved one(s) to help the lonely conquer their feelings. Simply trying to counteract the low
self–esteem verbally will not do it, though, for in their down state, they will see the person as just trying to be nice or spare their feelings. The lonely
must be shown in more subtle, yet clear ways that they are not the useless person they perceive themselves to be. For example, with a person who
feels particularly unloved and unwanted, someone close to them should try to take a little extra time to spend with that person and try to set aside a
little extra time to talk to the person.
Nothing special needs to be said or done, simply spending time, willing and without having been asked, allows the lonely one to see that they are
loved. That they are worthy of being associated with and that there are

Stress in the Workplace Essay
Stress in the workplace
Stress in the workplace has become one of the increasingly popular topics of discussion over the last couple of decades. It has become a major concern
among various organizations creating an impact on the management and operations of the organization. This paper will give a detailed definition of what
stress in the workplace is and the most common causes of stress amongst both employers and employees. In the midst of investigating the causes of
stress, I will give an outline of what can be done to manage the stress by not only the individual but also by the employers themselves.
I will also mention the effects of stress to an individual, which can be categorized as short–term effects both psychological and...show more content...
In the United States, the American Institute of Stress (AIS) has estimated that 40% of the worker turnover is due to stress and the cost of stress in
the workplace has been estimated to be over $300 billion per year. However, the ability of employers to lower the rate of stress in the workplace has
shown to improve the employee's quality of work and their health (Lee 36).
Causes of stress in the workplace
There are a variety of different causes of stress in the workplace and an ability to identify these as an employer is important because it will help in
knowing how to deal with and correct any problems arising from it. Most of the stresses are caused when the demands at work become extreme or
excessive. Many of these demands are a direct result of technological advances that have made work processes easier but on the other hand, require
employees to do more tasks. Current technology demands the workers to constantly perform near peak levels, be competitive and be cognizant of
technological breakthroughs. In some circumstances, the organization fails to inform the workers about changes in the business or the technology they
are using in their systems which can cause tension and uncertainty. Because of this, the worker can feel a constant fear of losing their position if they
do not work efficiently and understand the new changes in the organization.
Another cause of stress is a change in the workplace environment. As an

Reflection Paper On Science And Science
Reflection Statement Before taking this course, I had never questioned how to characterize science. In elementary school I was taught that "good"
science experiments use the scientific method so that they are replicable. I had always seen science as a source of reliable information. I certainly
questioned certain findings, but I held the belief that there was such a thing as "good science." I thought that "good science" transcended any
subjectivity and was indisputable. These notions I had were called into question in Anthropology of Science. We started by looking into the history of
science. Throughout lectures, we studied epistemology and different trends in scientific discovery. These classroom lectures were complemented with
discussions of Thomas Kuhn and other scholars, such as Emily Martin and Michael Carrithers, who have theorized about scientific research. During that
time, I personally began deconstructing my image of science being on a pedestal when it comes to scholarly findings. I acknowledged that there
were ways for culture to influence science. When I read the assigned ethnographies God's Laboratory and Alien Ocean by Elizabeth Roberts and
Stefan Helmreich, respectively, I was able to see exactly how clearly the theories about science were visible when anthropologists studied scientific
communities. The connections were even more visible to me when we got to apply the theories ourselves through our Ethnography of Science class
project. As a class, we

Truth Essay
Truth
The question of right and wrong has been battled over for centuries. Many conservatives still believe that truth is absolute, while others disagree, saying
that truth is relative. I believe that truth is an individual's perception of beliefs and decisions.
For that reason, truth differentiates among individuals thorough their contrasting opinions. But, truth is something that everyone believes to be correct.
Thus, it greatly depends on what's true in the minds of the people. On the contrary, truth that's spoken with bad intent is considered to be worse than a
lie. Hence, truth is an expression, symbol or statement that corresponds to reality and happiness.
Truth is dominated by one's subjective thoughts and beliefs. It is a...show more content...
Nevertheless, I also consider truth to be absolute, and therefore, it is never right to do wrong. Truth is the purity that differentiates between right and
wrong. "Absolute Truth" is true regardless of what we believe and think. Absolute truth stands on its own. In the sense, absolute truth is absolutely true
no matter what evidence there is for it. Truth is what corresponds to the facts. Truth does not change just because we learn something about it.
Also, truth is not always good to say. If the objective of telling the truth is to hurt someone, then it is considered to be inferior to a most terrible lie. For
that reason, while speaking the truth we should keep in mind that it doesn't hurt someone else's feelings or relations. The problem we face is that, we
feel the urge to tell the truth when we see it. But, we should try to accomplish this without disapproving condemnations that hurt others. So when we
freely express harsh judgment of another, we are in fact talking about those negative qualities of ourselves that trouble us the most.
Likewise, care should be taken that truth that's spoken for self–satisfaction does not impair someone else's life. Similarly, we should always bear in
mind that at times lie can also be beneficial to say if, it brings happiness to others. Hence, if the truth is spoken with the purpose of destruction of
something or someone then

Reflecting On How Anthropology Prepared Me For Nursing

  • 1. Reflection Paper On Anthropology When I first began taking Anthropology at the beginning of the semester, I was not exactly sure what to expect. I quickly learned anthropology is a topic that covers a little bit of everything. We began the semester with learning about different cultures, to medicine, and all the way to race and ethnicity. For every career field, there is always something to learn from anthropology that pertain to specific jobs. Anthropology teaches the employee fields the background of various cultures they might encounter and teaches them how to communicate with different types of people. As a nursing major, there are so many units I can use to help better myself in my career field. There are so many topics that have had an impact on me as I prepare for my future. Not only has the medical and healthcare units impacted me, but also the cultures and communication help me get a better understanding of other people and how to respond to their culture. The very first unit was all about culture. I learned exactly what culture is and what makes up a culture. I found it very interesting at how many different cultures there are. Even in the West Georgia area, there are so many different cultures around us. I had never realized just how diverse this small college down is. Many times, at the beginning of the unit, I thought that this unit would not have as much to do with me because I assumed we were all similar. While that may be true to a certain extent, the culture we grow up in play major roles Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Personal Integration Reflection Paper My Personal Integration is about, self–awareness, learning to accept, and treat myself with unconditional positive regard. I must do this before I can do the same for others. By making the subconscious conscious as in Psychodynamic Counselling I will integrate with myself and be okay with who I am. From an Ethical viewpoint, If I don't know myself, how can I help myself? If I can't help myself how can I help a client? It would be unethical to counsel a client laden with unresolved personal issues. Using the Johari Window, has helped me with continuous learning and growth. Recently my daughter told me that she finds me more understanding and easier to talk to. Hearing how people perceive me is very interesting even if it is not what I like to hear. I have always found it hard to accept compliments, feeling unworthy. I accepted criticism easier, feeling inferior to other people, thinking I probably deserved it, this stems from my self–worth. With personal development helping me to be more comfortable with myself I now accept compliments and criticism if it is warranted. I will explore the reasons behind any criticism to see if I can learn from the experience. I realise the importance of therapy for myself and clinical supervision when I start practising counselling as these are very important factors in supporting me to gain new perspectives: Nelson–Jones points out the importance of supervision: "Graduation from a counselling or counselling psychology course does not in itself mean you are an accredited practitioner. To obtain accreditation, you will be required to accumulate a set number of hours of supervised counselling practice. Afterwards, to maintain your accreditation, you may be required to have ongoing supervision (as with the British Association for Counselling) regularly accumulate continuing professional development points by attending conferences, workshops and training courses." Nelson–Jones R. (2003). To be integrated or congruent I must be aware of my values, prejudices and personal issues which can affect my perspective. Self–doubt has affected me since childhood, raised by devout Catholic parents I was expected to be 'good' and 'do the right thing', 'don't show temper',' Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay about the human brain In this paper one will learn the different parts of the brain and their functions. Although the brain isn't the largest organ of the human body it is the most complex and controlling organ. It is amazing how complicated the brain is. The brain controls every action within and out of your body. The brain has main areas that contain different areas that have specific functions. For instance the basal ganglia holds the lentiform and the caudate. The brain isn't just "THE BRAIN" it is actually a group of many parts. They help to inform the brain on the things going on with the human body. The brain is split in to two main parts, the left and the right hemisphere. The left hemisphere has about the same areas as the right hemisphere. The only ...show more content... The corpus callosum is a bundle of nerves that connects the two hemispheres. The area that passes and processes information concerning touch, pain, temperature, and pressure on skin is the thalamus. The limbic system controls your behavior and emotions. It is involved in emotions such as fear, rage, pleasure, and sorrow. In the prefrontal area of the frontal lobe emotional traits are controlled. In the temporal lobe expressed behavior is controlled. The parietal lobe discriminates sensory. The occipital lobe is where visual interpretation takes place. Pons is a crossroad for nerves going up to the cortex, to the cerebellum and then down the spinal cord. The cortex is the outer gray area where thinking takes place. The olfactory cortex receives senses from the nose that it then sorts out. The area that identifies what we see by working out movements, colors, and shapes is the visual cortex. The area that receives taste senses is called gustatory cortex. The area responsible for analyzing data, performing memory functions, learning new information, forming thoughts, and making decisions is the cerebral cortex. The motor cortex is involved in muscle movement. The cerebellum is vital when carrying out complicated, skilled movements. It is much like a mini brain. If before you read this paper you thought the brain was a "one man machine" I'm sure your opinion has changed after reading his paper. It is amazing how god has created the brain to have so many areas Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay On Privilege What is privilege? Privilege is the advantages that you are given. Privilege is often taken for granted by the people who have it because they didn't necessarily ask for it. Privilege is given to you depending on where you live, what you look like, how much money you have, what gender you are, or even your last name. Yourrace and ethnicity have a lot to do with how you are treated in society. Race and ethnicity can get confusing and people often use them interchangeably. They are alike because race and ethnicity share common ancestry. But, they differ because race is a persons' physical characteristics; race can be seen in skin, hair, and eye color. Whereas ethnicity is the culture; ethnicity is ancestry, religion, and nationality. When majority of people look the same, it can cause problems for the people who are different, the minority. The majority usually has preset opinions on how the minority should act, talk, or look. These opinions are called prejudices and are not fact based. Prejudices thoughts are also sometimes called stereotypes. Prejudice and stereotypes are different from each other because a prejudice is a feeling about a group of people, where a...show more content... • 9. What is Morality? Essay What is Morality? Philosophers around the world have debated the meaning of morality for centuries. However, it is a word too subjective to be either denoted or defined. Aristotle, often referred to as the father of philosophy, advised that one could determine what is moral by examining the mean between two "less desirable" extremes. For example, courage is a mean between fear and thoughtless rashness; generosity, between extravagance and parsimony. Plato argued that "to know the good is to do the good." In other words, those who behave immorally due so out of mere ignorance, not defiance. This reward system trains us to believe that what is legal is moral. Although a person may be a law–abiding citizen, he or she may not necessarily be moral. The morality of an individual is also based on his or her childhood. Parents have an immense effect on their children's values. For instance, if parents teach their child at early ages to be a hard–worker, to be honest and true, and to have integrity, then it is likely that the child will grow up with these morals instilled within them. However, some children grow to be the antithesis of their parents. They see that their parents are immoral and so they intentionally grow to think and behave differently. If so, is the child immoral for defying his or her parents, or is the child moral for defying his or her immoral parents? Another factor in determining one's morals is one's religiosity. For instance, some religions, such as Hinduism, believe in animal sacrifices as a way of worshiping; however, other religions, such as Catholicism, do not. Thus, to a Catholic, the sacrifice of innocent animals may seem immoral whereas followers of the Hindu religion view the practice as sacred. Therefore, one cannot conclude that simply because a person is religious, he or she is also moral. Unlike many other emotionally hurting people, the chronically lonely usually know what is wrong, but like many others they don't believe they can do anything to fix it, or, circling back to the low self–esteem, they may also believe they are not worth of happiness. It takes the strong support of a good friend(s) or other loved one(s) to help the lonely conquer their feelings. In elementary school I was taught that "good" science experiments use the scientific method so that they are replicable. I had always seen science as a source of reliable information. I certainly questioned certain findings, but I held the belief that there was such a thing as "good science." I thought that "good science" transcended any subjectivity and was indisputable. These notions I had were called into question in Anthropology of Science. We started by looking into the history of science. Throughout lectures, we studied epistemology and different trends in scientific discovery. These classroom lectures were complemented with discussions of Thomas Kuhn and other scholars, such as Emily Martin and Michael Carrithers, who have theorized about scientific research. During that time, I personally began deconstructing my image of science being on a pedestal when it comes to scholarly findings. I acknowledged that there were ways for culture to influence science. When I read the assigned ethnographies God's Laboratory and Alien Ocean by Elizabeth Roberts and Stefan Helmreich, respectively, I was able to see exactly how clearly the theories about science were visible when anthropologists studied scientific communities.
