Reflection ILT 5660
When I reflect upon this past semester challenging comes to mind. Challenging
in that I found online learning to be much more difficult than I thought it would be. I had
a hard time organizing my assignments and keeping track of due dates. I have learned
some valuable lessons during the course of this semester. The most important thing is
time management. I need to become more aware of my time and how I am going to
spend my efforts in completing a project. I need to set a time each day to just this class.
I think that if I stick to a certain time each day at a specific place where I keep all my
notes I will be much more organized and efficient. The second thing I learned is how to
collaborate better with group members. Our team found it difficult to communicate well.
Once we arranged a synchronous meeting then we were able to communicate much
better. In the process I learned about team work and self-direction. In the midst of all
this frustration, I did learn a lot about eLearning. I would have to say that I am truly
excited about the things I have learned so far in this program. I have learned how to use
social bookmarking tools, document sharing tools, and blogging tools.
As an educator, I learned how to write better objectives and the components of a
topic. In design, I learned about contrast, repetition, alignment, proximity and the
importance of considering the layout, shape, navigation, and use of windows to
presenting information. In my EdWeb project, I have learned more about how I am
going to present my subject matter online and I am looking forward to working on that
piece later next semester. In the web conference project, I learned how to communicate
better with members of my team and how to set deadlines for projects when they are due.
All in all… many things were learned this past semester and I am excited about what next
semester brings about!
