Reference For Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Reference for Essay" can be both challenging and intricate. The
difficulty lies in navigating the fine line between providing a comprehensive overview of the
importance of references in academic writing and delving into the specific nuances of citation
styles.
One of the primary challenges is striking the right balance between theoretical concepts and
practical applications. Addressing the significance of references in supporting arguments and
enhancing the credibility of the essay demands a deep understanding of scholarly conventions.
At the same time, explaining the technicalities of various citation formats, such as APA, MLA,
or Chicago, requires a meticulous approach to detail.
Moreover, crafting a coherent narrative that seamlessly integrates the relevance of references
throughout the essay can be a daunting task. Ensuring that the information flows logically and
that each point contributes to the overall argument can be time-consuming.
Additionally, there's the challenge of maintaining originality. In a topic like "Reference for
Essay," where conventions and guidelines are well-established, avoiding clichГ©s and
presenting fresh insights becomes a crucial aspect of the writing process.
Despite these difficulties, a well-executed essay on the subject can be immensely rewarding. It
not only showcases the writer's proficiency in academic writing but also demonstrates a
commitment to scholarly integrity and intellectual rigor.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on the topic of "Reference for Essay" demands a careful blend
of theoretical understanding, practical application, and originality. It is a task that requires
patience, attention to detail, and a deep appreciation for the nuances of academic writing.

The Story Of Greek Myth
When the gods were pondering how to win the amrita, the elixir of immortally,
Vishnu suggested that they let the Devas and Asuras churn the ocean so that the
elixir, along with all the herms and jewels, would emerge. They unrooted Mount
Mandara and set it on the back of a tortoise and used Vasuki, the snake, as the rope.
Taking each side of the rope, the Asuras and Devas began twirling Mount Madara.
The friction of the churning caused fire, which Indra put out using water from his
clouds. Finally, the sap of all the plants flowed into the ocean, which turned to milk,
then to butter, ultimately resulting in the divine physician Dhanvantari to bear the
elixir. The Asuras surrendered the elixir to Vishnu, but he gave it to the Devas. Rahu
snatched a drop but before swallowing it, he was decapitated by Vishnu.... Show more

This explains why the moon disappears and reappears. The Asuras were enraged
and offered battle, but the gods were victorious and put Mount Mandara back in its
proper place. What I personally find unique in this story is that these powerful
gods used a plan to trick others, who were less powerful than them, to churn the
ocean for them. I also find it unique that they wanted the elixir of immortality when
they are already gods and are immortal. I think it s very common in myths for
someone to always be on the search for immortality and/or gaining god like
abilities. This would make it a very popular story because even in today s world,
whether it s for science or cosmetic purposes, people are always looking for the
fountain of youth and the answer to living
Hamlet Grief In Hamlet

Evolution of Hamlet s Emotional Suffering
Since the tense conclusion of the 2016 presidential election, many people have felt
a tremendous amount grief surrounding the results. For much of America, this grief
has completely changed the way people live their lives. According to an article by
the LA Times [source needed], 35% of the workforce today feels more stressed at
work due to politics. Following the election, countless people began creating
scapegoats to blame for their loss. In some extreme circumstances, the results
triggered depression and almost a political sickness for some people. Furthermore,
they directed their rage at the world and then began to focus that anger on people such
as their neighbors, co workers, and politicians. This atmosphere of taking sides has
created an exceptional rift in the fabric of American society. However, very few have
voiced opinions about how their current situation could have been a result of their
prior actions, and many people are still pointing fingers rather than directing their
passion towards finding a constructive solution to their problems. Similarly, in
Shakespeare s play Hamlet, the protagonist experiences a process of condemnation
following his father s death. Between his first and second soliloquy, Hamlet s method
of coping with grief transitions from projecting his animosity outwards at those
around him to then directing it inwards with intense self loathing,
Gang Report On Gang Groups
According to the 2013 National Gang Report, gangs continue to flourish, progress,
and develop criminal tradecrafts (p. 3). Based on state, local, and federal law
enforcement reporting, the National Gang Intelligence Center (NGIC) calculated that
the US gang composition is approximately 88 percent street gang members, 9.5
percent prison gang members, and 2.5 percent outlaw motorcycle gang (OMG)
members. Street gangs pose the most violent and significant threat in most
communities, while prison gangs are viewed as the least problematic (National
Gang Report, 2013, p. 3). OMGs are described as the greatest threat in approximately
11 percent of jurisdictions, despite comprising only 2.5 percent of the gang
composition (National Gang Report,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Street gangs are linked to crime in elementary, middle, and high schools, and even
on college campuses. Schools provide grounds for recruitment and many public
schools are widespread with gang activity such as assaults, robberies, threats and
intimidation, drug distribution, and weapons offenses (National Gang Report,
2013, p. 4). Gangs continue to commit violent crimes, including assaults, and
robberies, and threats and intimidation more so than white collar type crimes, such
as identity theft and credit card fraud (National Gang Report, 2013, p. 4). Drug
trafficking was identified as the most common criminal activity of gangs (National
Gang Report, 2013, p. 4). In 2010 and 2011, DГ©cary HГ©tu1 and Morselli
analyzed two popular social network sites to find the presence of gangs on both
Facebook and Twitter (p. 877). The top three gangs with the highest number of
members on Facebook in 2010 and 2011 included: Hells Angels (14,775 and 42,911),
Crips (4,598 and 5,457), and Bloods (1,993 and 3,497) (DГ©cary HГ©tu1 Morselli,
2011, p. 883). As noted in the article, the number of followers increased
dramatically for Hells Angels over just a one year period. Similarly, Twitter s top
three gangs were the Bloods (47,171), Hells Angels (13,411), and the Latin Kings
(6,823) (DГ©cary HГ©tu1 Morselli, 2011, p. 885). Law enforcement monitoring of

Analysis Of Peter Fleming s Dead Man Working
Dead Man Working
Carl Cederstorm and Peter Fleming have strong opinions regarding capitalism and
how corporations are slowly taking over the world. Everyone is living in inequality
and they don t even know it. Corporations have so many things to distract everyone
and make everyone apathetic about the real problems going on in society. We are
living in a society where rich people keep getting richer and everyone else stays
where they are.
Corporations are demoralizing workers and turning them into a robot. For example,
in a biographical essay by Rob Lucas, he talks about how even in his sleep, he is
thinking about his work as a computer programmer. He calls this sleep working and
says that he is always dreaming up solutions to complex ... Show more content on

The only way to not become a dead man working in society is to be dead. Privately
owned corporations are taking over society and making workers lives meaningless,
joyless, and hopeless. In other words, capitalism is turning everyone into dead men
working. Workers today are people who exist between life and death because
everyone lives in a repetitive loop of work and consumption. Workers no longer
have a passion for what they do. Workers go to work to earn money, and then use
that money to buy things for their kids or spend it on holidays. Jobs today tell you
to be yourself, but in reality, they only say that to sound nice. As soon as you start
the job, you have to transform into a whole another person to fit their criteria. That
is why workers today are people between life and death. Workers are physically
there, but they are all mentally gone. Capitalism had created the circumstances that
maker worker s lives so meaningless, joyless, and hopeless. Capitalism has turned
workers into their job. It has transformed everyone from a person to a thing. Every
worker is known by their job and is their job. Every worker adapts and loses their self
identity for a job.
In our everyday life, we compensate many things to get over the sense of death or
desperation. According to the text, The things in life we could look forward to,
Analysis Of The Minister s Black Veil
In this well known American Romanticism story, The Minister s Black Veil by
Nathaniel Hawthorne, we encounter a bizarre character who is our protagonist
What American Romanticism was is that it was a movement in the arts and
literature that originated in the late 18th century, emphasizing inspiration,
subjectivity, and the primacy of the individual. Mr. Hooper was the protagonist and
minister who have decided to pay penance by wearing a long black veil over his head
for the rest of his days. He was judged and criticised by his own parishioners for his
black veil as rumors about sinand adultery were going around the town. This was a
serious issue that even results in his ex fiancee breaking off their engagement for he
vowed to never remove... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hooper has suffered a great deal for the remainder of his life. Although the minister
never explained why he wore it, there was much speculation as to why he did.
Adultery, disloyalty, addiction, and alcoholism were just some speculations as to
the secret sin he was paying penance for. The black veil has power over Mr. Hooper
because he chose to conceal his sin rather than show his fiancee before he lost her.
This also tells us that Mr. Hooper is a man of his word because even on his
deathbed, the black veil remained on his face. The black veil was a penance to Mr.
Hooper because he wore it to show his secret sin and that he acknowledged it rather
than discarding it like most of the parishioners did. This united him with the lower
class and criminals because they felt like minister harper was on their side because
it sowed his imperfections. Yet at the same time, the close bond he had with his
parishes was basically lost. The black veil also gave this eerie aura to Mr. Hooper
and it made his sermons more powerful to the parishioners who took all his sermons
to heart. To the parishioners, the black veil was seen as a dark item that made them
change their whole perspective on someone they once loved and

On the other hand, it lets the minims in, which may mean something that can comfort

nights, although we are faithless, the truth enters our heart, that small familiar pain;
then a man will stand stock still, hearing his youth in the distant Latin chanting of a

faithless. The third and fourth lines of the second quatrain give such an image of a
man, though painful, heartbreaking, seeing his youth far away in the darkness,
hearing the chanting, which makes him reflect about himself, find his identity and
realise the world. This quatrain reveals the ruthlessness of reality, and how much
people are longing for the care free and warm, comforting babyhood. In the

instinctual drive is the death drive. In this way, the term drive denotes waves of
attack against stases, which are themselves constituted by the repetition of these

Essay Similarities Between Night And The Book Night
Introduction Imagine that your family is uprooted from where they have been
living for your whole life, and are moved to a small space with 50 other people
surrounded by death, suffering, disease and starvation. This scenario was very real in
both the novel Night and the movie Life is beautiful . Furthermore, these two stories
from the holocaustare similar and different in many ways. They are both from the
same point of view which is from the son, the development of Elie and Joshua
throughout the story, the characterization of the father, and God s provisions in there
lives while they were in the concentration camp. Although, there are many things that
are alike in both of these stories, there are many things that are different. Which
consist of the mood of sadness, the fathers different ways of showing love, and how
God protected them both but in different ways. In the novel Night and in the movie

For example, in the novel Night, Elie explains how he was put in a kamando that
was far less dangerous the other kamandos were for that camp. This is shown
through Elie s friend telling him and his father when placed in the kamando. You are
lucky, little fellow, said Hans, smiling. You fell into a good Kommando ... (Wiesel,
pg. 50). This is just one of the many ways how God showed his grace toward Elie in
his time or need and how he provided for him and his father throughout this
suffering. In addition to Elie getting provisions from God, Joshua did also. Joshua
was provided with the provision of hating to take showers. As the boy in the movie
is portrayed, he hates to take showers. Furthermore, because he hates to take
showers he does not go into the showers with the other boys, thus, saving his life
(Gray, 2000). These provisions from God are obscenely different, they were both
ways that God provided for them in both of their stories of

2.2 Archimedean Copulas and Their Application
Archimedean copulas are an important family of copulas described by Genest and
MacKay (1986 a, b) and their applications explained in many fields such as actuarial
science, mathematics, statistics, finance and insurance; for more information, see
Frees and Valdez (1998), Klugman and Parsa (1999) or Denuit, et al., (2004). One of
the important features of this family is being parametric. The General structure of

Moral Rights And Its Impact On Society
Moral rights have played a role in our society for the better. These rights help make
us equal and have brought up value in every person life. Moral rights should be
viewed as something that should protect us from unfair judgment. In other words,
these rights should give us a sense of equality in which we are all equal and given a
good opportunity in life and more importantly the right to life. One of these major
moral problems includes abortion in which a fetus life is taken away without having
to live his/her. Some argue that a fetus hasn t fully developed but in the future this
problem has destroyed the chance for humanmoral rightsas they take chances away
for a human life to live. These fetuses should still be viewed as a human being. This
should be solved because it should be part of our moral rights. Happiness and morality
are independent and go together because being morally responsible and trustworthy
will make a person happy.
All of these moral rights each have a corresponding duty. These moral rights should
be divided into two categories, Negative rights and positive rights. Negative Rights
are the rights noninterference as positive rights are the right to recipience. With a
negative right it can create a corresponding duty in other moral rights. As there is a
positive right there can create a duty in other individuals. Moral rights like these
cannot be taken away from anyone unless you consent them to be taken away. Each
of this moral right should be either
Family Story And Origin Of A New Environment
Every family story and origin is unique to the members of the immediate group,
while including the traditions passed from generation to generation. From the scent
of their house and clothes, special holidays, vacation spots, memories, what they eat
and how it is served; all of these elements of life are distinct to a family. These
elements are incorporated into what is viewed as normal life in a way that we don t
see how our lives differ from those around us, until we are faced with a situation
where things are done differently than us. Many families contain multi cultural
backgrounds, therefore providing generations with traditions that include folklore
from different origins. One of the biggest elements of culture how dishes are served
and prepared. If you ever travel, one of the biggest attractions to a new environment
is the foodthat is served in that area. Some food traditions are difficult to explain
and don t make sense to outsiders, but to the family or local group it is a sense of
definition and unity through foodways. In Louisiana especially, with Cajun culture,
we see many festivals and events that are food based, and the pride in the locals that
serve it. My family, all born and raised in the South, participate in the spicy food,
crawfish boils, jambalaya sales, gumbocooking events that this culture offers. From a
young age I can remember waking up on a Saturday morning in the fall, feeling the
crisp air flow through the house as we had the windows open,

Film Analysis of All That Heaven Allows
Chosen sequence: Golden Rain Tree/Cary s bedroom scene.
Before the emergence of auteur theory the director Douglas Sirk was a renowned
exponent of classical Hollywood narrative, particularly in the genre of romantic
melodrama, of which his film All That Heaven Allows is a classic example.
However, he is now regarded as a master of mise en scene, one of the few tools left to
a director working within the constraints of the Hollywood studio/institutional system
who is now thought to have been highly critical of American mainstream culture and
society in this prosperous era. 1, 2

But the narrative and mise en scene has already established that she is looking for an
alternative solution, foretelling the problems that lie ahead.
The Golden Rain Tree sequence starts in Cary s bedroom with a match cut on the
small branch which Ron just presented. In itself, this is a typical example of
continuity editing used to reinforce the developing classical narrative the viewer
immediately understands that the token from Ron has assumed a position close to
Cary s heart and she has now effectively placed Ron on her dressing table. This is
the type of mise en scene that you would expect to see in this particular genre. The
branch represents not just Ron but also all that he stands for, given his outspoken
love of nature and anything to do with plants. Also, in accordance with a classical
narrative, there is a direct cause effect logic in showing the branch. The viewer knows
exactly why the branch is there and who it is from. If the film had started with this
scene, there would be an element of mystery around the branch and who, if anyone,
had presented it. But the film always maintains a classical narrative, with omniscient
narration whereby the viewer always understands the cause effect logic, consolidated
by standard continuity editing with a coherent sequencing of events across space and
time.

The And Of The Forest
In investigation 1, the data points are very clustered from the height of 150cm to
the height of 300cm. This makes sense as saplings are defined as young trees that
are taller than 1.35m above the forest floor. So between 150cm and 300cm is most
likely average height which would be the majority of the population. The overall data
setof investigation 1 is alot more spread out than the compact data set of
investigation 2. On the other hand, in investigation 2 all the data points are
overlapping and in line with the regression line, up to a height of 600cm where there
is few data points, indicating that the majority of saplings taken in this sample are
young and planted for regeneration of the forest purposes.
In both cases there is a positive relationship between the two sets of variables. In
investigation one, as H of a sapling increases, the DBH tends to increase. This would
make sense because as the sapling grows up, it subsequently grows in diameter
because it manufactures new cells around its circumference which increase the
diameter at breast height in order to maintain and support the weight of the growing
height. On the graph there appears to be some unusal feature s where the height of
the Sapling is approx 450cm however the DBH of just below 10cm is alot lower
than the other saplings of the sample population that have a height of 450cm. It is
possible that some sapling trees, like this one, are alot thinner and taller. This could
be caused by a mutation. However
Technology Impact On Society
It is abundantly clear that the development of technology has had an impact on
society. But there are many theories as to what exactly the impact is, and how that
impact affects the members of the society. A few of the theories put forth are by
Gerhard Lenski, Leslie White, and Alvin Toffler. There are both similarities and
differences to each of these theories. Let s consider each theory separately, then we
will have a clearer idea of how they relate to each other and how they vary.
Gerhard Lenski was a sociologist who believed that a society s ability to survive is
governed by its level of technology; that is, society changes, survives, and evolves
through technological advancement. Information and communication are key to
progress. Most notably, the greater the knowledge of the natural world, the better the
ability to improve society. He identified four stages of communication. The first,
which could also be called biological communication, is the transfer of genetic
information to a new generation. Second is awareness of self and the world around
us, or sentience. Next, is the capability for logic. Collective goals can be served on
the basis of observation and analysis. Finally, there is the mastery of various forms of
communication language, writing, and symbols. This last stage sets the foundation
for civilization. Additionally, Lenski suggested four levels of technological
development. First, a hand to mouth existence, called hunter gatherer. Next, farming

Who Is The Burden Of Free Will In The Brothers

Nothing has ever been more insupportable for a man and a human society than
freedom. The Grand Inquisitor Above all, don t lie to yourself. The man who lies to
himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot distinguish the truth
within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And
having no respect he ceases to love. Father Zosima. These two quotes voice the
polarized philosophies that impregnate the book, The Brothers Karamazov. Ivan, the

It was true. That s how I reasoned.
Father Zossima had a very different view on sin, free will, and morality, Let each of
you keep close company with his heart, let each of you confess to himself
untiringly. Do not be afraid of your sin. He understood that people sinned. He
understood that there was free will, but he did not let that deter him from pursuing
the good. Whereas Ivan taught that sin was inevitable and therefore permissible,
Father Zossima taught that although there was freewill, there was a teacher to
combat the sin, Brothers, love is a teacher; but one must know how to acquire it,
for it is hard to acquire, it is dearly bought, it is won slowly by long labor. For we
must love not only occasionally, for a moment, but for ever.
Alyosha, after some soul struggling, lives this out in the way in which he cares for
Koyla in the end. He shows him that doctrine of love. Through following Zosima s
philosophy of continual love, he slowly turns Koyla away from his atheism and
shows him the joy of Christianity. Through love, Alyosha refutes Ivan s philosophy
that free will is too much to bear and instead shows the good free will does. It allows
someone to choose the good. The good is a joy instead of a prison.
The Brothers Karamazov deals with deep, philosophical questions. It fights

Roger Waters and the rest of the band were able to put their knowledge into the lyrics

Polyesters are those fibers containing at least 85% of a polymeric ester of a
substituted aromatic carboxylic acid including but not restricted to terephthalic acid
and f hydroxybenzoic acid. The major polyester in the market is polyethylene
terephthalate (PET), an ester formed by step growth polymerization of terephthalic

highly resilient and resistant to wrinkling, possess high durabilily and dimensional

Forensics In Basketball
Within this investigation, the question of should ankle braces become mandatory
within professional basketball? will be exploited. Basketball is one of the most
popular sports practiced all around the world, having supporters and players involved
at social levels up to the well known NBA; National BasketballAssociation .
Basketball is well known through there elite athletics and teams within the NBA.
Within the sport of basketball, physical injuries are not sceers, due to the immense
pressure and strain produced on the internal and external parts of the human body.
Injuries prevent players from reaching their optimal maximum potential, therefore
preventing a growth in the whole team s franchise. One of the most frustrating
aspects of basketball... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Players in an offensive mode, with the ball, can use tactics and forms of physics
which can bring the defence off there feet, to enable an easy path to the basket. This
scenario is called breaking the defenders ankles. Breaking the defenders ankles is a
term which relates to the defender being subjected to a large sum of momentum
causing an instability in their ankles, consequently giving way. A players momentum
can be calc8lated through the use of their mass and final velocity as followed; p=mv,
p being the magnitude of the players momentum, m being the players mass, and v
being the velocity at which the object or player is travelling. Due to the velocity and
momentum being vector, the direction of each determine the final outcome. As the
offensive player travels in a particular direction at a velocity, the defender would
naturally defend by moving and following in front, guarding the offensive player. As
the offensive player has a mass and a directional velocity, the offensive player can
switch direction abruptly, causing the defenders momentum to continue in there
initial same direction. The basic forms of physcis, such as momentum, can
significantly determine an succesful or unsuccefeul defencive or offencive play.
Therefore minimizining the risk of the metioned senarios, ankle bracing can be worn
to increase the stubility of the defender in
Abortion Is A Social And Political Issue
Abortion is a social and political issue in which we control our lives as women.
Controlling our bodies clearly shows that this means the right to bear children as well
as the right not to. The Supreme Court ruled that women have the right to abortion. In
the first twelve weeks of pregnancy, the state cannot restrict abortionand it is the
woman and the doctor s decision to be made. During weeks thirteen to twenty four,
the state can only impose in areas that are reasonably related to maternal health . In
week twenty four to term, the state can restrict abortions if it chooses by prohibiting
or placing restrictions on them. If the physical or mental health of the woman is in
jeopardy, the state can not prevent it from being performed. Based on the 9th and
14th Amendments to the Constitution, a woman right to privacy includes her right to
decide whether to terminate her pregnancyor not (Vacuum Aspiration ).
It is said that reproductive rights are a very critical and controversial issue in today
s world and what a woman does for her body is her own decision and a very private
issue but this is not always the problem. As women, it is important to remember that
the reproductive rights we have today can be easily taken away. Some people take
advantage of the opportunity to birth control, condoms, and abortion. President Bush
has put out policies and by coming into office that would threaten women s choices.
As defined by the 2012 Merriam Webster dictionary, Abortion is the
The Importance Of Perfectionism
Human has created by God perfectly, but human being fell in Eden garden, then
human became imperfect, so the imperfect human being can t from perfect feats. No
human accomplishments can be qualified perfectly, thus to seek perfectionism is a
dream or utopia. Moreover, the research shows us a lot of theories need to be
enhanced in exact sciences; mathematics, physics biology, also in social sciences.
Therefore, the problem with perfectionism is as to cut the air in the hands. However,
a humancan realize the extraordinary feats in timeand space. Although perfectionism
undermines excellence, the history and the present are still the witness of the
perfectionist talents as James Watt, who modified the steam machine of Newcomen
and Savery, Michelangelo, and Steve Jobs for Apple s and iPhone, so on, which
perfectionist endeavors contributed to impact the society positively. However, the
problem with the perfectionists needs to recognize the human being limit which can t
create perfect efforts.
Perfectionism is an obstacle for the creativity because it spotlights the efforts to attain
the result out of the achievement. Furthermore, because perfectionists often focus on
problems and weaknesses, rather than strengths and opportunities, this can create a
highly negative climate (Livesey, 2016). Sieving people capacities to generate the
innovative ideas, perfectionism makes people afraid to effort doing an endeavor that
the world can judge you unable creating additional items.
Summer Camp Research Paper
We need to return them better than they were given to us . It was drilled into our
heads from day one of training, until the Friday of the final week. This was not a
statement concerning a materialistic item, but something of infinitely greater
value: the lives of children. You would not expect such a heavy responsibility from
your employment at a summer camp. Everyday, we embarked on adventures that
changed their perspectives on the world around them, just as the summer sunshine
was changing the tone of their skin. It was hard to believe how much the kids had
developed over the course of the summer, and it was even harder to comprehend
how my interaction with their childhoods fostered such a departure from mine.
Preparing for this job was not easy: a twenty hour training period was to be
completed weeks before the beginning of camp. Delivered to us trainees from the
voices of first hand witnesses, we were exposed to the horrors of child abuse and
the gravity of our roles in preventing it. Child abuse did not happen mostly in dark
alley ways, but in places that are filled with kids and nearby witnesses, which fit the
description of the YMCA summer camps perfectly. Long... Show more content on

close to danger. Time and time again, I found myself reeling them in and keeping
them stationed in place, away from the opportunities to explore and enjoy the

the way that the kids would grow. There would always be the shadow of danger
when in charge of a large group of children, but it was up to me to be brave enough
to let freedom run, even if it was out of my comfort

Are Friends Better Than Seinfeld
Why Friends is a Better Sitcom Than Seinfeld
While the 90s notoriously brought us a myriad of classic sitcoms, there are none as
infamous as Friends and Seinfeld. The two are often compared due to their
simultaneous airings and similar audiences, but there is no doubt that Friends is the
better sitcom.
In the world of television, there exists an elusive and uncommonly used tactic that
draws viewers in and makes a show golden. This tactic is rare, so rare that Seinfeld
obviously has not heard of it. This tactic? A plotline. Seinfeld is dubbed the show
about nothing because this is exactly what viewers get out of watching it: nothing.
No moral lesson, no ethical value, no storyline. Just four characters acting in
completely asinine ways for 30 minutes without a purpose. Friends, on the other hand,
always teaches us something by the end of the episode. Whether it be the fact that
family comes first, or the fact that your friends are your family, Friends has tangible

In the Seinfeld universe, a hospital is a place where a Junior Mint is ejected into
the abdominal cavity of an unsuspecting patient. While Friends uses a devastating

envelopes characterize a new beginning for Monica and Chandler in Friends, while
they quite literally cause the death of George s fiancГ©e in Seinfeld. Last but
certainly not least, the overall satisfaction of the finales of both shows is
incomparable. The Seinfeld finale is the sloppy, unnecessarily collective, last minute
project of a procrastinating student; the Friends finale is the thoughtful, well put

What Is Coronary Heart Disease
Coronary Heart Disease
1. Coronary heart disease is a condition when a plaque is formed in a coronary
artery. The plaque stuck in the coronary artery can narrow the artery and therefore
the oxygen rich blood flow is reduced. In another case, the plaque can break open and
a blood clot can be formed which blocks the artery and prevents the supply the heart

Responsibility In An Inspector Calls
We have been studying a play called An Inspector Calls . In this play, an inspector
shows up and tell the Birling family about a girl which they had all helped commit
suicide indirectly. It is set in 1912 just before WW2 but was written in 1945 and was
first published in 1947. Priestly raises issues that make the reader relate back to their
actions and make them think about what they would have done in the characters
position. This helps the reader convey the theme of responsibilityeffortlessly.
The main moral of the story is the way we are all part of one big community when
he says, We don t live alone. We are all part of one body. We are responsible for
each other. The writer hammers his point home by using repetition for the word
We in order to ensure that everyone from the audience knows that they are involved
in one way or another. Also, the use of the phrase responsible for each other makes
the reader feel like they aren t alone in the problems they face and are able to seek
help from anyone without having to worry. This message is again really important as

company, its employees, maybe its clients and of course the intern. In this situation,
the company makes out the best. Going off of the information that most publishing

work. The organization would be getting help equivalent to a worker and not have
to increase their payroll at all. The publisher would be able to gain more free time to

With a high number of interns coming in, not getting paid, not getting educational
experience, and quitting, the organization is bound to obtain a bad reputation. In
turn, this will make the recruiting process extremely hard for paid employees,
because who wants to work for a company that is not ethical nor treats its members
right? In general, at first, a non paid intern doing the work of a paid worker seems
great for the organization. But in the end it may prove to hurt both the company and
the unpaid intern.
Having a publishing intern who files papers could work out ethical and legally if the
internship program contains a well designed training program. According to the Fair
Labor Standard Act, any unpaid intern must not provide any direct benefits to the
company (Noe et al., 228). Unpaid interns exist in the organization for educational
benefits. According to the U.S Small Business Administration, filing papers and
answering emails are considered activities which provide direct benefits to an
organization; therefore they must be paid (Beesly). Knowing this information, in the
case of the publishing intern, s/he must be paid if the company wants them to file
papers because they are providing the company benefits. The U.S. Department of
Labor Wage and Hour Division state s, educational benefits does not exempt them
from having to pay the intern (WHD Staff). SHRM warns companies to distinguish
between an employee and an intern (Cleary). The main difference between

of all the innovative values and traditions are damaging and eventually destroying
what our ancestors have left us. In his analysis, he describes the gradual

Thus, people who are attempting to preserve cultures by denying this right to new
opportunities are trapping people in ideals they rather change. Once a culture accepts
the innovations that come along with globalization it depends on each community to
either completely transform their way of living or keep their traditions. As Appiah
notes, how people respond to these cultural imports depends on their existing cultural
context (Appiah 3) meaning that people interpret the innovations according to their
former beliefs and cultures since things might change but their mentality does not.
However, in my opinion globalization has more advantages than disadvantages and
it is up to each individual to apply those advantages for the best while still following
their old traditions. For example, families that are secure and rich usually have the
power to control their children in guiding and supporting them throughout their
teenage lives. Hence, the younger generations are more open to following their
family traditions. However, the families that have issues to support their families by
using food stamps or working 3 different jobs usually have less influence and control
over their children. Therefore, these children begin to question their families core
values and traditions and begin to adapt their own new way of life. Nevertheless,

Sonnenallee Film Essay
Leander Haussmann s film Sonnenallee (1999) has been the subject of much
criticism, this criticism centred on the issue of ostalgia. (Allan, 2000; 11) Critics
have dismissed the film as being an exercise in ostalgia, some having gone so far as
to claim that in its representation of life in the GDR that it is downright dangerous .
(Dale, 2000; 11) What this criticism betrays, however, is a very particular hypocrisy.
It is symptomatic of a colonial mentality existing between East and West, the West in
its criticism of Eastern remembrance seeking to define its identity by dictating how it
could remember its past. Ostalgia then is not about documentarian reconstruction; a
faithful memory of life in the GDR as it was, but a response to the present,... Show

It plays with the distorted views of the West all the while acknowledging but
justifying its own distorted recollections acknowledging also that it is selective
reconstruction. In this way it challenges the very criticism which it faced with
respect to the concept of ostalgia, the film being both a justification and critical look
at ostalgia which emerges as a reaction to its present circumstances rather than the
past. The film explicitly takes leave of Stasi obsessed portrayals of life in East
Germany in order to recover a self determined notion of identity as the Ossi struggled
with the patronising expectation of assimilation which was imposed upon them.
Cormican said it best when he said: If East Germans sometimes remember it too
fondly... then West Germans often reject East German s remembrances too callously .
(Cormican, 2000; 11) By speaking back, both critiquing the West and enabling it to
understand the situation which bore the concept of ostalgia, the film functions as a
reconciliatory space for East and West, ostalgia addressing the colonising tendency of
the West towards Ossi
Comparing Jurisdiction And Venue
Jurisdiction vs. Venue Jurisdiction and venue are both very important factors in the
court of law. Jurisdiction is the authority given by law to a court to try cases and
rule on legal matters within a particular geographic area and over certain types of
legal cases. Venue on the other hand is the proper or most convenient location for
trial of a case, usually the district of county where the crime was committed.
Jurisdictionand venue share similarities as well as differences. These two are
similar because they both deal with the location of the case, however they are
different because jurisdiction deals more so with power, and venue refers to the
county or district within a state of the U.S. where the lawsuit is to be tried. In some

Clinical Supervision Reflection
Clinical supervision practicum allowed me to get involved on what has helped me
in the process to become an effective teacher. The opportunity to write constructive
feedback, interact with a teacher, and together be able to identify instructional
concerns and creat opportunities to solve instructional problems has been a
remarkable experience. Which in turn, I have cemented my passion for helping
teachers to grow, and for that, I am excited about the upcoming year. After I
completed the Clinical Supervisor Cycle, I remembered the question I have had
since my first class. Will I, as a future supervisor, be able to implement the
supervisory behaviors as a process of teaching and learning? Surely, I will embrace
the purpose of this process as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My passion for teaching will continue from a different perspective now. One gain
from the supervision cycle is that I now place a higher value on listening and
discussing with teachers. I often would ask myself if being a principal is what I
want to be, but this great experience has confirmed for me that helping others and
seeing them grow is my passion. Glickman, Gordon, and Gordon Ross (2014) define
the clinical supervision cycle as assistance for the enhancement of teaching and
learning (Glickman et al., 2014, p. 9). The goal of clinical supervision is to foster
teachers learning skills, improving instruction and student learning. Therefore, I do
want teachers to feel I am there to support them in all aspects through the
collaboration based on their individual needs. This experience makes me think that
I will always be a teacher and I will always be a learner with teachers; the same way
teachers work with students. I want them to be open with me so that together we
can implement changes in the least restrictive way possible. I look forward to
practicing the clinical supervision cycle with teachers the coming year. I have
enjoyed and learned so much in this experience, but one thing stays in my heart is
the fact that teachers aim for constructive feedback, this allows many positive
opportunities. As I listened to Ms. Aguilar during the post conference, I realized that
feedback provides a foundation for a positive teacher supervisor relationship. By
providing appropriate feedback, the teachers understand that the supervisor is
genuinely concerned about their growth. This component also enhances a teachers
self efficacy and provides an avenue for motivation. The ultimate goal of supervision
is for teachers to improve their knowledge and skills in order to make schools a more
efficient and effective learning community for all
Why Is Shylock A Victim In The Merchant Of Venice
A Victim Behind the Villain s Eyes
In a book or play, it is usually very easy to distinguish who the victim is and who
the villain is. The villain usually causes all the problems in the story line and the
victim is the one who suffers in result of the villain s actions. In the play The
Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare, we examine the life of Shylockas a
victim. It is seen through three main events in the play. Shylock is ridiculed by his
community and his family, he is betrayed by his daughter and the community he
lives in, and he is forced to lose all his wealth.
The first event that demonstrates that Shylock is a victim would be that he is
ridiculed by his community and his family. Antonio and Shylock were never
friends. They always fought because Antonio was a Christian and Shylock was a
Jew. They also have different money lending practices which cause a lot of
discrepancies. Antonio always mocked Shylock. He calls him a misbeliever and a
cutthroat dog. Shylock tells us that Antonio ...call me misbeliever, cutthroat dog,
/ and spet upon my Jewish gabardine, (1.3.108 109). Here Shylock demonstrates
that Antonio on a day to day basis mocked Shylock. Later on, Antonio mentions that
he will call Shylock that again if he wants to. Another example would be Antonio s
friends. They teas Shylock for his faith and his misfortunes. When Jessica runs away
with Shylock s money and jewelry, he asked the Duke to go help him search
Bassanio s ship for them. Solanio heard
Aristophanes Is The Father Of Old Comedy
Aristophanes is the father of old comedy (K.J Dover). Cicero speaks of him as the
most facetious poet of the old comedy . Aristophanes wrote in a specific genre of
literature that Vector Ehrenberg named Old Attic Comedy (1) which was composed
and performed in Athens during the fifth and fourth centuries BC. The exact
beginning of the Attic Comedy(1) is scarcely known but the word comedy is derived
from a Greek word komodia that means singing and dancing. In the introduction to
Aristophanes3, Ralph M. Rosen has explained the origin of this word: Komodia
means a komos song where the komos refers to a group of men, often costumed, who
entertained audiences with song and dance at various festive occasions (9). He seems
to have been the first to transform comedy, which was still wondering erratically in its
early stages of development, into something more morally serious and worthwhile
(23).
Aristophanes extant comedies are a social, political and literal rendering. Although
tragedy was also performed at that time, it does not tell us about socio political
matters because of its formal structure and extravagant diction. Comedy performed
that function conveniently. Rosen indicates comic diction was far less formal and
stylized than tragedy. Old comedy, therefore, could reflect... Show more content on

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Patents
1.The market reward rationale for the patent system is based on the ability of patents
to reduce transaction costs and serve as a transferable asset, thereby allowing for
inventor to control the supply of the technology, and for the technology to maintain
competitive pricing in the marketplace and recover costs of invention. Specifically, a
patentallows for disclosure which prevents inventors from overlapping efforts or from
keeping the technology a secret, thereby reducing transaction costs and making it
easier to work with interested parties. The transferability of the patented technology

If a company creates a new drug to treat a certain disease, for example, they can get a

3.The Ex post rationale focuses on the economic functions of patents after they are
granted, claiming that the patent system incentivizes the technology to be
constructively utilized, enhanced, and commercialized post patent. In particular, this
rationale holds that patents improve economic efficiency (i.e. by reducing transaction
costs, allowing for transferability divisibility, promoting collaboration), allowing for a
more efficient marketplace, and promoting investments in the patented technology
due to the chance of large rewards in the marketplace in return. For example, the
University of Illinois develops a significant amount of patented technology, including
the Dry Grind Corn Milling Process. The patent on this technology signifies to
investors and other interested parties in the important functions of the technology in
terms of processing corn into more corn products, and the fact that it was developed
at a credited institution, initiating outside firms to invest in, enhance, and
commercialize the product, improving the technologies competitive edge in the
marketplace. The University of Illinois similarly has an incentive to ensure that the

throughout my life. I feel that I am a very loyal person. I believe that I am easy to
get along with and can make friends without effort. Once I make friends, I have
them for life. I have always prided myself on supporting decisions that my friends
and family make, even if I know they are a mistake. Who am I to correct anyone s
actions? I understand the importance of making mistakes, so we can learn from them.

Again, even though I do not always speak up when I know something is wrong, I
have a strong code of personal ethics because I believe loyalty, honesty, and above
all, respect for others will guide me to make me the proper ethical decisions
throughout my life.
How might you use your personal ethics to determine a course of action? I have an
example in which my personal ethics were greatly tested. When I was still working as
an Assistant Security Director, the head Security Director was a very harsh,
uncaring, pushy type of a person. He often treated all of his employees very
poorly. He called everyone awful names. Once an employee had made a mistake
within their job duties, my boss would forever hold that over their heads and often
referred to those employees as his retards. He would even introduce them to other
people that were hired into our department as retard # 1, 2, amp; 3. On a daily basis,
I would watch our most manly men come into the security office with their head held
high, only to watch them leave feeling less of a man, and their heads hung low. My
boss would also make sexual remarks to all the female security officers and I know
it made them feel very uncomfortable. The Security Director knew that what he was
doing was terribly wrong, because he

A Theory of Justice Presented by John Rawls Essays
In A Theory of Justice John Rawls presents his argument for justice and inequality.
Rawls theorizes that in the original position, a hypothetical state where people
reason without bias, they would agree to live in a society based on two principles
of justice (Rawls 1971, 4). These two principles of justice are named the first and
second principles. The first is the equal rights and liberties principle. The second is
a combination of the difference principle and the fair equality of opportunity
principle, or FEOP (Rawls 1971, 53). Rawls argues that inequality will always be
inevitable in any society (Rawls 1971, 7). For example, there will always be a varied
distribution of social and economic advantages. Some people will be wealthier than...

Furthermore, they have no concept of social standing or economic standing. The
individuals are just capable of reasoning and possess the goal of creating a just
society (Rawls 1971, 17). The purpose of the veil is to allow those in the original
position to agree on rules pertaining to their own mutual interests. Rawls thinks
that behind the veil of ignorance, free of bias with rational thought, the individuals
would agree to a society governed by his two principles of justice (Rawls 1971,
53). Individuals would agree to these principles because it would be the only way
to ensure a fair initial status quo in society (Rawls 1971, 53). This is important
because it allows for justified inequalities later that will be regulated instead of
unjust inequalities. No one would want to make things unequal from the start
because they have no way of knowing their actual place in society behind the veil
(Rawls 1971, 11). For example, if someone suggested that all UCR students get
free tuition at the cost of students at other universities footing the bill, it would be
within the individuals best interest to disagree because he has no way of knowing
if he is a UCR student in the society or one of the other university students that now
have to pay more. The idea of the original position is that a just society would be fair
and equal, and individuals behind the veil of ignorance would agree on Rawls two
principles of justice to make it so. Rawls s first principle
The Joy Of Heaven, By G. K. Yancey
The chapter begins with a quote by G. K. Chesterton, and he talks about a saint
(Yancey 59). The quote was peculiar to me. It said that a saint exaggerates, which
confused me. I thought a saint should be humble and not exaggerate. When I think
of someone exaggerating, I do not think of it in a good way. Although, maybe the
saint exaggerates to bring awareness to the things people do not realize or
something. I do not think I agree with Yancey when he said, be grateful for your
povertybecause I do not know if I would be grateful for my poverty (61). A person
who lives in poverty is faced with many tough situations, such as being homeless or
starving. These tough situations can make the person s life difficult and hard to live,
so I do not think I would be grateful for my poverty.... Show more content on

He said, This world is not my home, I m just a passin through (Yancey 64).
Sometimes I forget that my life here on Earth is just temporary. I always think of
my life here on Earth as my home. I cannot imagine a place other than my house in
Northeast Philadelphia as my home. To be honest, I do not want to think about
my life on Earth as my temporary home because it scares me. Every time I think of
what happens after my life here on Earth, I get extremely scared. I should be happy
or excited that I might go to Heaven, but I am not. What if I do not go to Heaven or
someone I care about is not there? Anyways, reading that line by Bill Leslie
reminded me that I should cherish my time here and live my life to the fullest
because I do not know what awaits me in the

  • 2. The Story Of Greek Myth When the gods were pondering how to win the amrita, the elixir of immortally, Vishnu suggested that they let the Devas and Asuras churn the ocean so that the elixir, along with all the herms and jewels, would emerge. They unrooted Mount Mandara and set it on the back of a tortoise and used Vasuki, the snake, as the rope. Taking each side of the rope, the Asuras and Devas began twirling Mount Madara. The friction of the churning caused fire, which Indra put out using water from his clouds. Finally, the sap of all the plants flowed into the ocean, which turned to milk, then to butter, ultimately resulting in the divine physician Dhanvantari to bear the elixir. The Asuras surrendered the elixir to Vishnu, but he gave it to the Devas. Rahu snatched a drop but before swallowing it, he was decapitated by Vishnu.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This explains why the moon disappears and reappears. The Asuras were enraged and offered battle, but the gods were victorious and put Mount Mandara back in its proper place. What I personally find unique in this story is that these powerful gods used a plan to trick others, who were less powerful than them, to churn the ocean for them. I also find it unique that they wanted the elixir of immortality when they are already gods and are immortal. I think it s very common in myths for someone to always be on the search for immortality and/or gaining god like abilities. This would make it a very popular story because even in today s world, whether it s for science or cosmetic purposes, people are always looking for the fountain of youth and the answer to living

Hamlet Grief In Hamlet Wyatt Johnson Hamlet 3HP November 17, 2017 16701 Evolution of Hamlet s Emotional Suffering Since the tense conclusion of the 2016 presidential election, many people have felt a tremendous amount grief surrounding the results. For much of America, this grief has completely changed the way people live their lives. According to an article by the LA Times [source needed], 35% of the workforce today feels more stressed at work due to politics. Following the election, countless people began creating scapegoats to blame for their loss. In some extreme circumstances, the results triggered depression and almost a political sickness for some people. Furthermore, they directed their rage at the world and then began to focus that anger on people such as their neighbors, co workers, and politicians. This atmosphere of taking sides has created an exceptional rift in the fabric of American society. However, very few have voiced opinions about how their current situation could have been a result of their prior actions, and many people are still pointing fingers rather than directing their passion towards finding a constructive solution to their problems. Similarly, in Shakespeare s play Hamlet, the protagonist experiences a process of condemnation following his father s death. Between his first and second soliloquy, Hamlet s method of coping with grief transitions from projecting his animosity outwards at those around him to then directing it inwards with intense self loathing,

Based on state, local, and federal law enforcement reporting, the National Gang Intelligence Center (NGIC) calculated that the US gang composition is approximately 88 percent street gang members, 9.5 percent prison gang members, and 2.5 percent outlaw motorcycle gang (OMG) members. Street gangs pose the most violent and significant threat in most communities, while prison gangs are viewed as the least problematic (National Gang Report, 2013, p. 3). Everyone is living in inequality and they don t even know it. Corporations have so many things to distract everyone and make everyone apathetic about the real problems going on in society. We are living in a society where rich people keep getting richer and everyone else stays where they are. Corporations are demoralizing workers and turning them into a robot. The only way to not become a dead man working in society is to be dead. Privately owned corporations are taking over society and making workers lives meaningless, joyless, and hopeless. In other words, capitalism is turning everyone into dead men working. Workers today are people who exist between life and death because everyone lives in a repetitive loop of work and consumption. Workers no longer have a passion for what they do. Workers go to work to earn money, and then use that money to buy things for their kids or spend it on holidays. Jobs today tell you to be yourself, but in reality, they only say that to sound nice. As soon as you start the job, you have to transform into a whole another person to fit their criteria. That is why workers today are people between life and death. Workers are physically there, but they are all mentally gone. Capitalism had created the circumstances that maker worker s lives so meaningless, joyless, and hopeless. Capitalism has turned workers into their job. It has transformed everyone from a person to a thing. Every worker is known by their job and is their job. Every worker adapts and loses their self identity for a job. In our everyday life, we compensate many things to get over the sense of death or desperation. According to the text, The things in life we could look forward to,

Hooper has suffered a great deal for the remainder of his life. Although the minister never explained why he wore it, there was much speculation as to why he did. Adultery, disloyalty, addiction, and alcoholism were just some speculations as to the secret sin he was paying penance for. The black veil has power over Mr. Hooper because he chose to conceal his sin rather than show his fiancee before he lost her. This also tells us that Mr. Hooper is a man of his word because even on his deathbed, the black veil remained on his face. The black veil was a penance to Mr. Hooper because he wore it to show his secret sin and that he acknowledged it rather than discarding it like most of the parishioners did. This united him with the lower class and criminals because they felt like minister harper was on their side because it sowed his imperfections. Yet at the same time, the close bond he had with his parishes was basically lost. The black veil also gave this eerie aura to Mr. Hooper and it made his sermons more powerful to the parishioners who took all his sermons to heart. To the parishioners, the black veil was seen as a dark item that made them change their whole perspective on someone they once loved and

  • 11. Moral Rights And Its Impact On Society Moral rights have played a role in our society for the better. These rights help make us equal and have brought up value in every person life. Moral rights should be viewed as something that should protect us from unfair judgment. In other words, these rights should give us a sense of equality in which we are all equal and given a good opportunity in life and more importantly the right to life. One of these major moral problems includes abortion in which a fetus life is taken away without having to live his/her. Some argue that a fetus hasn t fully developed but in the future this problem has destroyed the chance for humanmoral rightsas they take chances away for a human life to live. These fetuses should still be viewed as a human being. This should be solved because it should be part of our moral rights. Happiness and morality are independent and go together because being morally responsible and trustworthy will make a person happy. All of these moral rights each have a corresponding duty. These moral rights should be divided into two categories, Negative rights and positive rights. Negative Rights are the rights noninterference as positive rights are the right to recipience. With a negative right it can create a corresponding duty in other moral rights. As there is a positive right there can create a duty in other individuals. Moral rights like these cannot be taken away from anyone unless you consent them to be taken away. Each of this moral right should be either

Family Story And Origin Of A New Environment Every family story and origin is unique to the members of the immediate group, while including the traditions passed from generation to generation. From the scent of their house and clothes, special holidays, vacation spots, memories, what they eat and how it is served; all of these elements of life are distinct to a family. These elements are incorporated into what is viewed as normal life in a way that we don t see how our lives differ from those around us, until we are faced with a situation where things are done differently than us. Many families contain multi cultural backgrounds, therefore providing generations with traditions that include folklore from different origins. One of the biggest elements of culture how dishes are served and prepared. If you ever travel, one of the biggest attractions to a new environment is the foodthat is served in that area. Some food traditions are difficult to explain and don t make sense to outsiders, but to the family or local group it is a sense of definition and unity through foodways. In Louisiana especially, with Cajun culture, we see many festivals and events that are food based, and the pride in the locals that serve it. My family, all born and raised in the South, participate in the spicy food, crawfish boils, jambalaya sales, gumbocooking events that this culture offers. Before the emergence of auteur theory the director Douglas Sirk was a renowned exponent of classical Hollywood narrative, particularly in the genre of romantic melodrama, of which his film All That Heaven Allows is a classic example. However, he is now regarded as a master of mise en scene, one of the few tools left to a director working within the constraints of the Hollywood studio/institutional system who is now thought to have been highly critical of American mainstream culture and society in this prosperous era. 1, 2 The Golden Rain Tree sequence occurs early on in the film after the ... The Golden Rain Tree sequence starts in Cary s bedroom with a match cut on the small branch which Ron just presented. This is the type of mise en scene that you would expect to see in this particular genre. The branch represents not just Ron but also all that he stands for, given his outspoken love of nature and anything to do with plants. Also, in accordance with a classical narrative, there is a direct cause effect logic in showing the branch. The viewer knows exactly why the branch is there and who it is from. If the film had started with this scene, there would be an element of mystery around the branch and who, if anyone, had presented it. But the film always maintains a classical narrative, with omniscient narration whereby the viewer always understands the cause effect logic, consolidated by standard continuity editing with a coherent sequencing of events across space and time. Having already set out the main protagonists,

This makes sense as saplings are defined as young trees that are taller than 1.35m above the forest floor. So between 150cm and 300cm is most likely average height which would be the majority of the population. The overall data setof investigation 1 is alot more spread out than the compact data set of investigation 2. On the other hand, in investigation 2 all the data points are overlapping and in line with the regression line, up to a height of 600cm where there is few data points, indicating that the majority of saplings taken in this sample are young and planted for regeneration of the forest purposes. In both cases there is a positive relationship between the two sets of variables. In investigation one, as H of a sapling increases, the DBH tends to increase. This would make sense because as the sapling grows up, it subsequently grows in diameter because it manufactures new cells around its circumference which increase the diameter at breast height in order to maintain and support the weight of the growing height. On the graph there appears to be some unusal feature s where the height of the Sapling is approx 450cm however the DBH of just below 10cm is alot lower than the other saplings of the sample population that have a height of 450cm. It is possible that some sapling trees, like this one, are alot thinner and taller. This could be caused by a mutation. However
  • 15. Technology Impact On Society It is abundantly clear that the development of technology has had an impact on society. But there are many theories as to what exactly the impact is, and how that impact affects the members of the society. A few of the theories put forth are by Gerhard Lenski, Leslie White, and Alvin Toffler. There are both similarities and differences to each of these theories. Let s consider each theory separately, then we will have a clearer idea of how they relate to each other and how they vary. Gerhard Lenski was a sociologist who believed that a society s ability to survive is governed by its level of technology; that is, society changes, survives, and evolves through technological advancement. Information and communication are key to progress. Most notably, the greater the knowledge of the natural world, the better the ability to improve society. He identified four stages of communication. The first, which could also be called biological communication, is the transfer of genetic information to a new generation. Second is awareness of self and the world around us, or sentience. Next, is the capability for logic. Collective goals can be served on the basis of observation and analysis. Finally, there is the mastery of various forms of communication language, writing, and symbols. This last stage sets the foundation for civilization. Additionally, Lenski suggested four levels of technological development. First, a hand to mouth existence, called hunter gatherer. Next, farming begins

The ghost of McCarthy, The memories of Nixon. Good bye! And now, adding color, a group of anonymous latin American Meat packing glitterati. (Pink Floyd). All of these political leaders had done things to anger and hurt the citizens of the countries. The lyrics and the tone that are used for this song reflect the feelings of not only Roger Waters, but many other citizens of the time period as well. Pink Floyd shows their credibility throughout the song based on their knowledge of the events. They lived through the events and knew firsthand what was occurring. Roger Waters and the rest of the band were able to put their knowledge into the lyrics and alert other people to the chaos going on around them. They also knew about the leaders of the time period and the things that they had done. During the Cold War Leonid Brezhnev took over the Soviet Union after Nikita Krushnev. Taking a Look at Polyester Fiber 2.2 Polyester Fiber 2.2.1 Background and General Properties of Polyester Fiber Polyesters are those fibers containing at least 85% of a polymeric ester of a substituted aromatic carboxylic acid including but not restricted to terephthalic acid and f hydroxybenzoic acid. The major polyester in the market is polyethylene terephthalate (PET), an ester formed by step growth polymerization of terephthalic acid and the diol ethylene glycol. The polyester fibers all have similar properties, are highly resilient and resistant to wrinkling, possess high durabilily and dimensional stability, and are resistant to chemical and environmental attack(Needles, 1986). In 1996, 24.1 million metric tons of manmade fibres were produced globally. The main volume gain took place in production of PET fibres (PET filament 9%, PET staple 4%) (Froehlich, 1997). Dramatic growth in PET fibre production is foreseen in Asia in the near future (Harris, 1996). The cost of polyester, with the combination of its superior strength and resilience, is lower than that of rayon. Polyester fibres are hydrophobic which is suitable for lightweight facing fabrics used in disposable industry providing a perceptible dry feel on the facing, even when the inner absorbent media is fully saturated. As the new methods of PET processing and bonding of are developed, rayon is replaced by polyester on the market. 49% of the total nonwovens market share in USA belongs to polyester staple, reaching up to 291 million pounds in

Players in an offensive mode, with the ball, can use tactics and forms of physics which can bring the defence off there feet, to enable an easy path to the basket. This scenario is called breaking the defenders ankles. Breaking the defenders ankles is a term which relates to the defender being subjected to a large sum of momentum causing an instability in their ankles, consequently giving way. A players momentum can be calc8lated through the use of their mass and final velocity as followed; p=mv, p being the magnitude of the players momentum, m being the players mass, and v being the velocity at which the object or player is travelling. Due to the velocity and momentum being vector, the direction of each determine the final outcome. As the offensive player travels in a particular direction at a velocity, the defender would naturally defend by moving and following in front, guarding the offensive player. As the offensive player has a mass and a directional velocity, the offensive player can switch direction abruptly, causing the defenders momentum to continue in there initial same direction. The basic forms of physcis, such as momentum, can significantly determine an succesful or unsuccefeul defencive or offencive play. This was not a statement concerning a materialistic item, but something of infinitely greater value: the lives of children. You would not expect such a heavy responsibility from your employment at a summer camp. Everyday, we embarked on adventures that changed their perspectives on the world around them, just as the summer sunshine was changing the tone of their skin. It was hard to believe how much the kids had developed over the course of the summer, and it was even harder to comprehend how my interaction with their childhoods fostered such a departure from mine. Delivered to us trainees from the voices of first hand witnesses, we were exposed to the horrors of child abuse and the gravity of our roles in preventing it. Glickman, Gordon, and Gordon Ross (2014) define the clinical supervision cycle as assistance for the enhancement of teaching and learning (Glickman et al., 2014, p. 9). The goal of clinical supervision is to foster teachers learning skills, improving instruction and student learning. Therefore, I do want teachers to feel I am there to support them in all aspects through the collaboration based on their individual needs. This experience makes me think that I will always be a teacher and I will always be a learner with teachers; the same way teachers work with students. I want them to be open with me so that together we can implement changes in the least restrictive way possible. I look forward to practicing the clinical supervision cycle with teachers the coming year. I have enjoyed and learned so much in this experience, but one thing stays in my heart is the fact that teachers aim for constructive feedback, this allows many positive opportunities. As I listened to Ms. Aguilar during the post conference, I realized that feedback provides a foundation for a positive teacher supervisor relationship. Aristophanes wrote in a specific genre of literature that Vector Ehrenberg named Old Attic Comedy (1) which was composed and performed in Athens during the fifth and fourth centuries BC. The exact beginning of the Attic Comedy(1) is scarcely known but the word comedy is derived from a Greek word komodia that means singing and dancing. In the introduction to Aristophanes3, Ralph M. Rosen has explained the origin of this word: Komodia means a komos song where the komos refers to a group of men, often costumed, who entertained audiences with song and dance at various festive occasions (9). He seems to have been the first to transform comedy, which was still wondering erratically in its early stages of development, into something more morally serious and worthwhile (23). Personal Ethical View Point Even though I do not always speak up when I know something is wrong, I have a strong code of personal ethics because I believe loyalty, honesty, and above all, respect for others will guide me to make me the proper ethical decisions throughout my life. I feel that I am a very loyal person. I believe that I am easy to get along with and can make friends without effort. Once I make friends, I have them for life. I have always prided myself on supporting decisions that my friends and family make, even if I know they are a mistake. Who am I to correct anyone s actions? I understand the importance of making mistakes, so we can learn from them. Along with loyalty, I pride myself on having great fortitude. I am not easily swayed in my ... Again, even though I do not always speak up when I know something is wrong, I have a strong code of personal ethics because I believe loyalty, honesty, and above all, respect for others will guide me to make me the proper ethical decisions throughout my life. How might you use your personal ethics to determine a course of action? I have an example in which my personal ethics were greatly tested. When I was still working as an Assistant Security Director, the head Security Director was a very harsh, uncaring, pushy type of a person. He often treated all of his employees very poorly. He called everyone awful names. Once an employee had made a mistake within their job duties, my boss would forever hold that over their heads and often referred to those employees as his retards. He would even introduce them to other people that were hired into our department as retard # 1, 2, amp; 3. On a daily basis, I would watch our most manly men come into the security office with their head held high, only to watch them leave feeling less of a man, and their heads hung low. My boss would also make sexual remarks to all the female security officers and I know it made them feel very uncomfortable. The Security Director knew that what he was doing was terribly wrong, because he

  • 42. A Theory of Justice Presented by John Rawls Essays In A Theory of Justice John Rawls presents his argument for justice and inequality. Rawls theorizes that in the original position, a hypothetical state where people reason without bias, they would agree to live in a society based on two principles of justice (Rawls 1971, 4). These two principles of justice are named the first and second principles. The first is the equal rights and liberties principle. The second is a combination of the difference principle and the fair equality of opportunity principle, or FEOP (Rawls 1971, 53). Rawls argues that inequality will always be inevitable in any society (Rawls 1971, 7). For example, there will always be a varied distribution of social and economic advantages. Some people will be wealthier than... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, they have no concept of social standing or economic standing. The individuals are just capable of reasoning and possess the goal of creating a just society (Rawls 1971, 17). The purpose of the veil is to allow those in the original position to agree on rules pertaining to their own mutual interests. Rawls thinks that behind the veil of ignorance, free of bias with rational thought, the individuals would agree to a society governed by his two principles of justice (Rawls 1971, 53). Individuals would agree to these principles because it would be the only way to ensure a fair initial status quo in society (Rawls 1971, 53). This is important because it allows for justified inequalities later that will be regulated instead of unjust inequalities. No one would want to make things unequal from the start because they have no way of knowing their actual place in society behind the veil (Rawls 1971, 11). For example, if someone suggested that all UCR students get free tuition at the cost of students at other universities footing the bill, it would be within the individuals best interest to disagree because he has no way of knowing if he is a UCR student in the society or one of the other university students that now have to pay more. The idea of the original position is that a just society would be fair and equal, and individuals behind the veil of ignorance would agree on Rawls two principles of justice to make it so. Rawls s first principle
  • 43. The Joy Of Heaven, By G. K. Yancey The chapter begins with a quote by G. K. Chesterton, and he talks about a saint (Yancey 59). The quote was peculiar to me. It said that a saint exaggerates, which confused me. I thought a saint should be humble and not exaggerate. When I think of someone exaggerating, I do not think of it in a good way. Although, maybe the saint exaggerates to bring awareness to the things people do not realize or something. I do not think I agree with Yancey when he said, be grateful for your povertybecause I do not know if I would be grateful for my poverty (61). A person who lives in poverty is faced with many tough situations, such as being homeless or starving. These tough situations can make the person s life difficult and hard to live, so I do not think I would be grateful for my poverty.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He said, This world is not my home, I m just a passin through (Yancey 64). Sometimes I forget that my life here on Earth is just temporary. I always think of my life here on Earth as my home. I cannot imagine a place other than my house in Northeast Philadelphia as my home. To be honest, I do not want to think about my life on Earth as my temporary home because it scares me. Every time I think of what happens after my life here on Earth, I get extremely scared. I should be happy or excited that I might go to Heaven, but I am not. What if I do not go to Heaven or someone I care about is not there? Anyways, reading that line by Bill Leslie reminded me that I should cherish my time here and live my life to the fullest because I do not know what awaits me in the
