Reduplication
Is a process of forming new word
by doubling a morpheme .
Ex / fifty-fifty, dillydally,
hubble-bubble.
Reduplication
 The term “Reduplication” includes three meanings :
1- The process .
2-The result of the process.(new word)
3-The element repeated.
The repeated word is the basic or
originating morpheme.
The new word is called twin-words.
Type of Reduplication
 Total Reduplication as in clop-clop and tick-tick.
 Partial Reduplication:
 1-ablaut/vocalic reduplication:
ex/ chitchat , zigzag.
 2-Rhyming reduplication:
ex/ willy-nilly , walkie-talkie.
