The document discusses the concepts of RedMind and BlueMind. RedMind refers to a stressed state characterized by anxiety, fear, and anger. BlueMind refers to a calm, peaceful state that can be experienced in nature. The document hypothesizes that extreme stress through outdoor sports may help recalibrate the stress response when combined with the relaxation of BlueMind experiences in nature. It considers how connecting RedMind and BlueMind states through extreme outdoor sports could provide stress relief and health benefits.
Clustering allows an application to run on multiple parallel servers or nodes. A load balancer distributes workloads across these nodes. With clustering, if one node fails, the workload is transferred to another available node along with session replication to maintain the user's session state. Clustering manages the status of nodes and maintains session replication to provide high availability without interrupting user connections if a node fails. Load balancing is used with clustering to distribute loads across nodes, and it also maintains session state by transferring requests to the same node if a session is already active.
The document describes a novel FPGA implementation of an image scaling processor using bilinear interpolation. The proposed method uses sharpening and clamp filters as pre-filters to the bilinear interpolator in order to improve image quality during scaling. The bilinear interpolation algorithm was chosen due to its lower complexity compared to other methods. The design was implemented in Verilog and synthesized for an FPGA, achieving a maximum frequency of 215.64MHz for 64x64 grayscale images. The hardware resources required were moderately lower than other algorithms.

This document provides an overview of the structure and function of the human brain. It describes the major lobes of the cerebrum - frontal, parietal, occipital, and temporal - and identifies their locations and primary functions. It also details the cortical regions within each lobe, such as Broca's area, Wernicke's area, and the primary motor cortex. The case of Phineas Gage is discussed as an example of how damage to the frontal lobe can impact personality and behavior.
This document discusses the social and emotional needs of gifted and talented (GT) students. It outlines learning outcomes related to providing a rationale for affective education and identifying the social and emotional characteristics and needs of underachieving and at-risk gifted learners. The document also contains sections on norms, pedagogy, types of gifted learners, and case studies.
This document discusses various forms of violence against women including sexual violence, intimate partner violence, rape, domestic violence, stalking, sexual abuse of children, and sexual harassment. It notes that the majority of violence against both men and women is committed by men and is about power and control. It outlines risk factors, common reactions, recovery processes, and actions that can be taken to address these issues including building support networks, safety planning, and changing cultural attitudes around gender roles and male dominance.

GASTROINTESTINAL INFECTIONS AND GASTRITIS
Osvaldo Bernardo Muchanga
Gastrointestinal Infections
GASTROINTESTINAL INFECTIONS result from the ingestion of pathogens that cause infections at the level of this tract, generally being transmitted by food, water and hands contaminated by microorganisms such as E. coli, Salmonella, Shigella, Vibrio cholerae, Campylobacter, Staphylococcus, Rotavirus among others that are generally contained in feces, thus configuring a FECAL-ORAL type of transmission.
Among the factors that lead to the occurrence of gastrointestinal infections are the hygienic and sanitary deficiencies that characterize our markets and other places where raw or cooked food is sold, poor environmental sanitation in communities, deficiencies in water treatment (or in the process of its plumbing), risky hygienic-sanitary habits (not washing hands after major and/or minor needs), among others.
These are generally consequences (signs and symptoms) resulting from gastrointestinal infections: diarrhea, vomiting, fever and malaise, among others.
The treatment consists of replacing lost liquids and electrolytes (drinking drinking water and other recommended liquids, including consumption of juicy fruits such as papayas, apples, pears, among others that contain water in their composition).
To prevent this, it is necessary to promote health education, improve the hygienic-sanitary conditions of markets and communities in general as a way of promoting, preserving and prolonging PUBLIC HEALTH.
Gastritis and Gastric Health
Gastric Health is one of the most relevant concerns in human health, with gastrointestinal infections being among the main illnesses that affect humans.
Among gastric problems, we have GASTRITIS AND GASTRIC ULCERS as the main public health problems. Gastritis and gastric ulcers normally result from inflammation and corrosion of the walls of the stomach (gastric mucosa) and are generally associated (caused) by the bacterium Helicobacter pylor, which, according to the literature, this bacterium settles on these walls (of the stomach) and starts to release urease that ends up altering the normal pH of the stomach (acid), which leads to inflammation and corrosion of the mucous membranes and consequent gastritis or ulcers, respectively.
In addition to bacterial infections, gastritis and gastric ulcers are associated with several factors, with emphasis on prolonged fasting, chemical substances including drugs, alcohol, foods with strong seasonings including chilli, which ends up causing inflammation of the stomach walls and/or corrosion. of the same, resulting in the appearance of wounds and consequent gastritis or ulcers, respectively.
Among patients with gastritis and/or ulcers, one of the dilemmas is associated with the foods to consume in order to minimize the sensation of pain and discomfort.

PGx Analysis in VarSeq: A User’s PerspectiveGolden Helix
Since our release of the PGx capabilities in VarSeq, we’ve had a few months to gather some insights from various use cases. Some users approach PGx workflows by means of array genotyping or what seems to be a growing trend of adding the star allele calling to the existing NGS pipeline for whole genome data. Luckily, both approaches are supported with the VarSeq software platform. The genotyping method being used will also dictate what the scope of the tertiary analysis will be. For example, are your PGx reports a standalone pipeline or would your lab’s goal be to handle a dual-purpose workflow and report on PGx + Diagnostic findings.
The purpose of this webcast is to:
Discuss and demonstrate the approaches with array and NGS genotyping methods for star allele calling to prep for downstream analysis.
Following genotyping, explore alternative tertiary workflow concepts in VarSeq to handle PGx reporting.
Moreover, we will include insights users will need to consider when validating their PGx workflow for all possible star alleles and options you have for automating your PGx analysis for large number of samples. Please join us for a session dedicated to the application of star allele genotyping and subsequent PGx workflows in our VarSeq software.

The biomechanics of running involves the study of the mechanical principles underlying running movements. It includes the analysis of the running gait cycle, which consists of the stance phase (foot contact to push-off) and the swing phase (foot lift-off to next contact). Key aspects include kinematics (joint angles and movements, stride length and frequency) and kinetics (forces involved in running, including ground reaction and muscle forces). Understanding these factors helps in improving running performance, optimizing technique, and preventing injuries.

Editor's Notes
Catherine
Catherine-I haven’t tried surfing yet, but a few years ago I was an avid skydiver. Neuroscience has yet to explain extreme sports beyond “something is wrong in the dopaminergic system.” What I found, however, was that jumping out of planes on the weekend helped me achieve peace through the week as a Neurobiology grad student at the University of Chicago.VERY INTERESTING!
Catherine-Outdoor/Nature-based sports are good for the body and mind.
Catherine
Catherine
Catherine-The physiological stress-response evolved to help us survive… these hormones are essential for escaping predation, finding and fighting for food and mates.
Catherine-Today, that same physiological stress response is turned on many times each day. Non-life-threatening stressors activate the same biological systems… meaning our blood pressures skyrocket whether faced with a lion, attractive mate, or mortgage bill.
Catherine-Repeatedly activating the stress response system is killing us. How can we modulate our stress responses and change our lives?
Catherine
Joao- Case-studies from beginner surf-coaching people from Lisbon big offices: bankers,Lawyers, business owners… pure reaction of catching a small wave, seems similar to sensation I achieve on a giant wave! Very positive to see that pure exhiliration in beginners! That experience with Nature is a gateway to motivate these individuals to do something for the environment… whatever is in their reach…
Joao- (Redmind can go too far… for anyone)Mavericks wipeouts... If u don’t loose consciousness you are working to solve problems that u are facing… get bk to shore and re-accessA 4-story wave breaking in front of us, creates tremendous stress… we hvWhen waves aren’t big – down season - Nightmares can be common… this antecipation of wipeout or being “caught inside” triggers tremendous anxiety,Fear…
Catherine- serotonin? Research is only beginning to tap into contentment and happiness
Catherine-
Joao-The ocean-connection of surfing calms my body and mind, has helped me stay centered throughout my life, help overcome death of close ones, maintained me humble and wanting to live life to the max. etc.
Catherine
Catherine
Catherine -Discuss current project and preliminary findings that rock climbers have lower stress toward paper-and-pencil test. Also discuss recent findings that fitness may reduce that stress.
Joao-nuanced difference between stressful outdoor situations – big waves and happy/natural calm moments… hypothesis BOTH help people Manage stress in “workplace”/Domestic situationsChange something in your life…
Joao-Wisdom lies within… importance of solitude to create new ideas… hyper-connectivity can cut that down… learn to disconnect…
Joao-Friendships formed under extreme circumstances can be some of the most sincere and long-lasting – some overlap with friends/colleagues from armed conflicts/war…The friendships created and sealed in exciting situations can be very powerful and important in bringing meaningfulness to human lives… employee-motivation Activities in Nature can be extremely impactful…
Joao-Making bridges between people in cities and outdoor experiences as a preservation tool – importance of having elite outdoor athletes helping more Urban based people learn new stress management skills – Competitive-driven individuals more redmind orientated
Joao-Life-cycle management of BlueMind – or staying stoked all your life Passing on the torch... Also helps those connected to the ocean to re-kindle their stoke…
Joao-
Catherine -What will re-calibrate our stress response to responding to life-or-death scenarios and not sweating the small stuff? Is it being in nature, is it the physicality of moving in nature, or do we need to experience high risk in order to teach our neuroendocrine systems what to respond to?
Joao-Family-driven individuals more bluemind orientated BOTH benefit from Experiencing Nature… multiple levels of experiencing Nature… relaxed more SPA style vs. intense more radical/survival style
