Radio Script
 3 vox pops of people saying their favourite type of breakfast.
“Breakfast. One of the stapes of Britain, but what makes it so special?We’re on a
quest to find out why people love breakfast and why it’s so important for our diet.
The wonders of breakfast. Set the alarm. Friday 14th February 8pm only on 4. Rise
and shine?”
Choosing our voice over
We have chosen Kath Hope for our voice over as we believe that her voice
implements and conveys clear and understandable words.We believe that she is soft
spoken, which is a beneficial factor as it compliments with the tone and themes of
the documentary. Having a soft spoken voice also draws the audience in and
influence them in listening to whatever they are saying.We also believe that her
voice produces professional tone, in which again compliments the documentary.
Before recording our radio
trailer, we have first
familiarised the equipment
that we were about to use.
We believe that this was
necessary as we have never
used this recording
equipment before. The first
stage of recording is to open
up “audacity.”This program
enables us to record high
quality voice over for our
radio advert. We have used
this program as this was
suggested to us by our
teacher as it is easy and
straight forward to use.
Before recording our voice
over, we ensured that the
person was fully aware of
what to say and how to say
it.This is because we
wanted the best possible
outcome for our voice over.
We then made sure that the audio levels are set
to 6 as this was suggested to us by our teacher.
Our aim was to gain audio that is clear; not too
quiet and not too loud; therefore setting the
audio levels to 6 is the only way to achieve our
aim.
Setting the audio levels to 6 enables us to gain
clear sounds.Therefore when we have exported
the audio to Premier software, where we edited
our radio advert, we found that the audio were
successful as it was clear and understandable.
Every time we record, we ensured that the audio
levels were always set to 6. we wanted to
proceed continuity throughout recording our
radio advert and voice over.
We made a radio trailer as its another medium to advertise
our documentary, the adverts are also linked as we have
used the same music as featured in the beginning of the
documentary.This ensures that there is a connection
between them as they use some of the same content, some
vox pops have also been used in conjunction with this to
anchor meaning with the documentary early on.The song
used starts with the words “good morning”, this reinforcing
the theme of the documentary, this also grabs the
audience’s attention and makes them wonder what the
advert is about before the voiceover begins.The radio trailer
was produced in adobe premier pro which is the same as the
video.
The voiceover was recorded in the recording booth in our
college, we used a program called audacity to record the
input from the microphone ensuring the correct levels were
set, not too high so the audio wouldn’t be muffled and not
too quiet so she couldn’t be heard. We started the editing
with the vox pops and then the voiceover until but then
improved the advert by having an intro with the music first
and then having the voiceover, this introduces the
documentary better and also allows us to place vox pops
inside the voiceover so it’s more interesting to listen to.
As you can see in the picture we
faded some of the tracks so they
flowed better and wasn’t a harsh
difference between some of them by
jumping through the clips.The music
bed also lasted through the entire
length of the advert except the part
where the voiceover says what
channel and time the documentary is
on, during this part the music
quietens in order to not distract the
attention from the information.
The main tool we used in premier was
the slice tool to split the clips up and
then we either used a fade transition
found in the audio transitions section
of the effects panel or left it as it is.
The vox pops were taken from the
video clip and were unlinked so that
the audio could be separated from
the video and moved freely.

Recording and editing radio trailer

  • 2. Radio Script  3 vox pops of people saying their favourite type of breakfast. “Breakfast. One of the stapes of Britain, but what makes it so special?We’re on a quest to find out why people love breakfast and why it’s so important for our diet. The wonders of breakfast. Set the alarm. Friday 14th February 8pm only on 4. Rise and shine?” Choosing our voice over We have chosen Kath Hope for our voice over as we believe that her voice implements and conveys clear and understandable words.We believe that she is soft spoken, which is a beneficial factor as it compliments with the tone and themes of the documentary. Having a soft spoken voice also draws the audience in and influence them in listening to whatever they are saying.We also believe that her voice produces professional tone, in which again compliments the documentary.
  • 3. Before recording our radio trailer, we have first familiarised the equipment that we were about to use. We believe that this was necessary as we have never used this recording equipment before. The first stage of recording is to open up “audacity.”This program enables us to record high quality voice over for our radio advert. We have used this program as this was suggested to us by our teacher as it is easy and straight forward to use. Before recording our voice over, we ensured that the person was fully aware of what to say and how to say it.This is because we wanted the best possible outcome for our voice over.
  • 4. We then made sure that the audio levels are set to 6 as this was suggested to us by our teacher. Our aim was to gain audio that is clear; not too quiet and not too loud; therefore setting the audio levels to 6 is the only way to achieve our aim. Setting the audio levels to 6 enables us to gain clear sounds.Therefore when we have exported the audio to Premier software, where we edited our radio advert, we found that the audio were successful as it was clear and understandable. Every time we record, we ensured that the audio levels were always set to 6. we wanted to proceed continuity throughout recording our radio advert and voice over.

We made a radio trailer as its another medium to advertise our documentary, the adverts are also linked as we have used the same music as featured in the beginning of the documentary.This ensures that there is a connection between them as they use some of the same content, some vox pops have also been used in conjunction with this to anchor meaning with the documentary early on.The song used starts with the words “good morning”, this reinforcing the theme of the documentary, this also grabs the audience’s attention and makes them wonder what the advert is about before the voiceover begins.The radio trailer was produced in adobe premier pro which is the same as the video. The voiceover was recorded in the recording booth in our college, we used a program called audacity to record the input from the microphone ensuring the correct levels were set, not too high so the audio wouldn’t be muffled and not too quiet so she couldn’t be heard. We started the editing with the vox pops and then the voiceover until but then improved the advert by having an intro with the music first and then having the voiceover, this introduces the documentary better and also allows us to place vox pops inside the voiceover so it’s more interesting to listen to.

As you can see in the picture we faded some of the tracks so they flowed better and wasn’t a harsh difference between some of them by jumping through the clips.The music bed also lasted through the entire length of the advert except the part where the voiceover says what channel and time the documentary is on, during this part the music quietens in order to not distract the attention from the information. The main tool we used in premier was the slice tool to split the clips up and then we either used a fade transition found in the audio transitions section of the effects panel or left it as it is. The vox pops were taken from the video clip and were unlinked so that the audio could be separated from the video and moved freely.
