development of new artists

3. Research
• The three different record label companies that I have been
researching all have artist linked to the pop genre. These record
labels are the most known to me and they were; Atlantic
records, virgin Emi records and Universal Music Group.

4. Universal Music Group
• Universal Music Group is an American global music
corporation that is a subsidiary of the French media
conglomerate Vivendi. UMG's global corporate headquarters
are located in Santa Monica, California. It is considered one of
the "Big Three" record labels

5. Atlantic Records
• Atlantic Records is a major record label founded in 1947. It is
based in Los Angeles, USA and has many artists on contract to
them. Some of these artists include Ed Sheeran, Wiz Khalifa,
Bruno Mars and Charlie Puth. Atlantic Records offer a very
diverse set of artists for their fans, with Heavy Rock bands like
'Led Zepplin' and rappers like 'Jay-Z' appearing in the
roster.

merger of Mercury Records UK and Virgin Records. It operates
two distinct A&R and marketing streams—Virgin and EMI

7. The Record Label that we chose
I thought that seeming as these artists have
such a big fan base and following whilst in a
label like Atlantic Records, maybe it's best if
Jack Avery were to join them as they we are
both going for the same audience
demographic. Which is from the young age
of 16 to 26 and it reaches both genders.
As a group, we have decided that we want
Atlantic Records to be the record label that
our artist 'Jack Avery' signs to. There are a
number of reasons for this.
There are some artists that are signed to
Atlantic Records that have the star image
that we are trying to achieve with Jack
Avery. These artists are Ed Sheeran and
Charlie Puth. The star image that they
possess can be described as the term 'indie'.
The iconography for their star image usually
consists of casual clothing (that we have
tried to mirror in the music video), props
like acoustic guitars and a very laidback
attitude in their songs.
