Roc Nation is an American entertainment company founded by jay-Z. the label is
operated by the Sony Music Entertainment and distributed by Universal music
group.
The label was founded in April 2008 when live nation partnered with rapper jay-Z.
In 2008 Jay-Z and Norwegian producers Mikkel S. Eriksen and Tor Erik Hermansen
of the production duo Stargate formed the label StarRoc. The label is a 50/50
partnership between Stargate and Jay-Z's Roc Nation entertainment
company, which he signed in the same year to Live Nation.
In early April 2013, Roc Nation formed a new sports management division, Roc
Nation Sports.
