Antisocial Personality Disorder Case Study
Treatment recommendations for antisocial personality disorder, based on the patient s case, is a
medication such as lithium carbonate, which has been found to reduce anger, threatening behavior and
combativeness among prisoners (Black, 2013). Psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy are
other options for treatment, but I would not recommend these for Gemma because of her background,
environment, and stubborn personality. Prognosis is not very good because of two contributing
factors. First, because the disorder is characterized by a failure to conform to society s norms, people
with this disorder are often incarcerated because of criminal behavior. Secondly, a lack of insight into
the disorder is very common. People with antisocial personality disorder typically see the world as
having the problems, not him or herself, and therefore rarely seek treatment. If progress is made, it is
typically over an extended period of time (Antisocial Personality Disorder, 2011). The research ethics
committee identified several ethical concerns with the study of APD, including fair participant
selection, confidentiality, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since Gemma cares so deeply about her family, she might benefit from hearing their opinions and
concern for her. Also, the external structuring group therapy provides can control destructive behavior
in spite of ego weakness. In groups, the therapist is less authoritative (and less threatening to the
patient s grandiosity); intensity of emotional experience is lessened; and regression is more controlled,
creating a better setting for confrontation and clarification (Grohol, 2013, p. 1). A con of group
therapy is the possibility of not having enough time to talk and let your feelings known. Also,
personality clashes are very likely to happen; a very aggressive member will not benefit a fragile

The Iliad By Ancient Greek Poet Homer Essay
The Iliad, written by ancient Greek poet Homer, chronicles the battle and events during the final
weeks of The Trojan War, an armed conflict between the Achaeans army and the defenders of Troy. It
further recounts the story of the wrath of Achilles, the greatest warrior in the Greek army, against King
Agamemnon who unfairly appropriates Briseis, the lovely maiden belonging to Achilles after
relinquishing his own maiden, Chryseis, in order to end the plague sweeping the Greek armies.
Infuriated by Agamemnon s demands, the dishonored and humiliated Achilles initially withdraws from
the king s army and enlists the service of Zeus, king of all gods, to bring upon the Achaean army a
devastating loss. He later reconciles with Agamemnon and joins the Greek army to avenge his friend,
Patroclus death, who was killed by Hector, the mightiest warrior in the Trojan army. As Achilles
renters the battle, he experiences aristeias his finest, most glorious moments during the conflict as he
is able to rout the Trojan army, mercilessly slaughtering them one by one, and dragging the mutilated
body of Hector after brutally murdering him. It is only through these fearless, life threatening actions
does Achilles achieve everlasting glory, honor and fame, bestowed to him by his community. In
Homer s Iliad, Achilles aristeia supersedes the aristeias of other characters as the warrior is able to
display unsurpassed skill and prowess in battle, is motivated to seek the principle of justice for his

The Pros And Cons Of Uniforms In Schools
School uniforms: a debate that has been tossed back and forth for years now. The percentage of
schools that necessitate uniforms and the percentage of the ones that do not are approximately equal.
This conveys a dispute that is difficult to find a definite solution for, due to the ambiguous negatives
and positives being drawn between both arguments. Uniforms being a part of school systems became
widespread first after Long Beach, California implemented them into their elementary and middle
schools. It is safe to say that since then, schools have become far more lenient with what restrictions
students have when it comes to uniforms. However, some others disagree with the policies on
uniforms, believing that they obstruct on children s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It creates a unified community that has no economic or social barriers relating to clothing. To
empathize the point being made, it should be known that hectoring youth can lead to both physical and
emotional stress, depression, and in extreme cases, even death. When the threats of bullying are so
prominent in a teenager s life, precautions must be made.
Accepting uniforms in a school will help it present itself in a more professional and safe manner. For
instance, if someone were to come up to the school requesting entrance wearing clothing previously
banned, it would be a cause for suspicion. This could assist schools in being more efficient in the
event of a lockdown or emergency. Meanwhile, schools are still being regularly threatened to date; a
study states
In addition, school uniforms are generally a benefit for parents, economically. With uniforms having
the same style every year, albeit with occasional leniencies, there is not much cause for buying new
uniforms yearly besides from a child growing. Without a school uniform, teenagers quickly tire of
what they wear to school and want to get new clothes around every month. This is due to students
wanting to stay with the times and the latest trends. In the logic of the adolescent mind, if you have the
latest clothes, then it will boost your reputation and status on the school map, and so a time consuming
cycle is forged. This would cost the parents more of their salary that could be better spent on

In addition to that, one of the most important side effects is that working children may experience
physical harm in a number of ways. These include an increased risk of accidents; children and young
people often work in unregulated environments where little attention is paid to safety. Working
children often experience violence in the workplace from adult staff and managers. Children and
young people working in the street are also at risk of physical violence from police officers and other
authority figures. Risk of illness from poor hygiene and exposure to bad weather can also be
witnessed. Therefore, child labor involves the following characteristics: it violates a nation s minimum
age laws, involves intolerable abuse, such as child slavery, child trafficking, debt bondage, forced
labor, or illicit activities, prevents children from going to school, and uses children to undermine labor
standards (December, 2007). Child labor can also be developmentally, emotionally, and physically
abusive. Child workers are more vulnerable than adult workers, leaving them at risk for exploitation,
dangerous and abusive conditions. In many parts of the world, it too often involves confinement,
bondage, and forced labor; it frequently involves dangerous and unhealthy working conditions.
Children work longer hours have lower pays than adults. Some children are sold into labor

Argumentative Essay On Homework
Late nights, eyes only kept open by ungodly amounts of coffee, and never ending piles of paper: these
are all symptoms of the nation sweeping homework epidemic. Students are assigned hours upon hours
of after school homework every day but is it really necessary? Oftentimes, homework causes more
harm than good on the mental, physical, and social health of students; therefore, after school
assignments should be limited to the four core classes, minimizing those loads as much as possible,
because more homework does not necessarily lead to highly successful students, immense amounts of
stress are put on students every day, and an eight hour school day should be enough to disseminate the
information needed. While some teachers believe that nightly homework is imperative to student
achievement, data shows that homework at any level, from grade school to high school, does not equal
success. Many East Asian countries, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Japan had lower average rates
of homework, yet ranked very highly in math. While math homework is usually intended to practice
the material learned in class that day, excessive repetition of the same equations will not make the
information stick any more than a few practice problems. As stated by Ty Conner, ...children... are
learning this material in order to complete their homework, which is in turn preparing them for a test,

The Proxy War And The Korean War
Proxy Wars.
In the 1947 the Cold war began with two superpowers, the United States and the USSR interested in
Eastern Europe. Different Ideologies Communism and Capitalism became the issues in different
countries. They fought over which countries would go to communism or capitalism. These countries
included Greece and Turkey, the Suez crisis, The Vietnam war and one of the biggest proxy wars that
still have tension today, the Korean War. The Korean war between communist north Korea and their
allies were the USSR and China while South Korea was an ally of the United States. The war started
in June of 1950 through July 1953, even though it lasted 3 years it became one of the deadliest wars in
modern history, US believed that if the USSR were to take Korea that ¾ of the world would become
communism and so through the US containment policy, they became involved so communism would
not spread.
The reason the United states decided to take action was because a non communist country was getting
attacked by a communist country and their duty was to interfere and stop the attack. The soviets also
wanted to intervene in countries like Greece and Turkey. This brought up the Marshall plan. The
Marshall plan was a European Recovery Program that gave assistance to European countries to help
them grow and prevent communism. The US also brought in the Truman Doctrine which was an
American external dogma to counter the spread of USSR political ideas such as communism.

Melba Pattillo Beals , Warriors Don t Cry In the book Warriors Don t Cry by Melba Pattillo Beals, the
author describes what her reactions and feelings are to the racial hatred and discrimination she and
eight other African American teenagers received in Little Rock, Arkansas during the desegregation
period in 1957. She tells the story of the nine students from the time she turned sixteen years old and
began keeping a diary until her final days at Central High School in Little Rock. The story begins by
Melba talking about the anger, hatred, and sadness that is brought up upon her first return to Central
High for a reunion with her eight other classmates. As she walks through the halls and rooms of the

The state and town passed laws and ordinances as the school year drew near in order to keep the

without resistance. Some blacks also opposed the desegregation for fear of future repercussions. The
nine brave students, however, refused to be stopped.
On September 3, Elizabeth Eckford, Ernest Green, Jefferson Thomas, Minnijean Brown (Trickey),
Carlotta Walls (LaNier), Terrence Roberts, Gloria Ray (Karlmark), Thelma Mothershed Wair, and
Melba Patillo Beals set off for school. The governor of Arkansas, Orvel Faubus, had sent National

racist citizens who spat upon them, mocked them, threw sharp objects at them, and even physically

North And South African Trade Essay
In West and South Africa the rulers of empires took control of trade, this trade was supported by the
goods of wealthy eastern city states. Trade in Africa was thriving years before the Europeans
arrived.Africa participated in a system of regional and international trade; However, people were
affected in both positive and negative ways. Trade offered neighboring areas to share their unique
exports, trade was what kept most empires running. There were various trade items shared through
regional trade. In an excerpt from Kingdoms of the Medieval Sudan Jonathan Rotondo McCord said,

Cultural blending came with trade because people from far away areas brought not only their trade
items but also pieces of where they came from such as fashion, language, and religion. It is stated in

and Malindi...some of them speak Arabic, but more part use the language of the country. They clothe
themselves from the waist down with cotton and silk cloths, and other cloths they wear over their
shoulders like capes and turbans on their heads . The merchants from Kilwa, Mombasa, and Malindi
brought not just trade items with them but pieces of their culture such as their clothing and language,
this resulted in cultural blending. The people of africa were negatively affected because of slave trade.
Document one shows the trade routes between africa and europe, africa exported slaves to europe. The

Morality of Today Essay
Olympian morality was potent in ancient Greek society yet it is incomplete by today s moral standards
of what is acceptable. Modern morality is not only taught through actions, stories or experiences
however constructed by the feelings within. In both, The Iliad and the Hesiod, external actions are the
most important however, without logos, a look into the soul no decisions are made by choice. Eris, the
force of pulling apart and Eros, the force of pushing together were vital pieces in the aspect of
morality through traditional Greek society. Ancient morality combined with natural science and logos
creates a balance that allows for perfect moral structure. Olympian morality was built upon the aspect
that the Gods determined human existence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Socrates believed that justice and desire could not be determined without reason and logic (Reno).
Going along with Socrates ideas, Eris and Eros can be confined in the soul but the structure of
Olympian morality will never be destroyed. Destroying Eris would also destroy Eros and not only
would no bad exist, but nothing good would exist either. Therefore the Sophist s mentality could never
become the mentality in which society is driven by. If all good and bad were removed from society
there would be nothing to fuel desires, hopes, dreams, hardships or emotions. Preluding to the Trojan
War, Helen is always property. Never once is choice an option of Helens. She is given as a prize, a
trophy, to the one who will triumph over the other (Homer). No one considered asking Helen what she
truly desired; therefore to settle the issue, men were killed in warfare to come to a conclusion that
should have been determined by choice. Women were not deemed important figures in ancient society
and men ruled the world in which they lived. Until Socratic ideals, one can say that women were only
the property of men. Socrates tried to explore the world of femininity and discover the soul; he was
killed for believing that there is more to an individual then what the divine interprets (Plato s
Apology). Unlike ancient times, a war of nations would not break out over a romantic conflict because
women and men can choose whom they love. Logic has allowed modern

Rihanna s Disturbia
In a world where vapid bubble gum pop songs garner the most Youtube hits, radio requests, and
overall attention from today s youth, it is shocking to think that a pop music icon could release such a
thought provoking song. Contrary to the quintessential 21st century radio hits, Rihanna s 2008 single
entitled Disturbia challenges listeners to look beyond captivating beats and an irrefutably alluring
hook. Beneath the rhythmically appealing instrumentals lies a series of ominous lyrics that would
assuredly frighten the listeners if they comprehended these lines on a deeper level. The speaker
explores themes of mental illness and Hollywood infamy and employs a desperate tone that begs the
listener for assistance. The title itself instills a simultaneous feeling of familiarity and enigma in the
listener. Familiarity is present as the root word disturb is easily identifiable, but the title also elicits
feelings of confusion because Disturbia is not an actual word in the English language. The ia ending
suggests that it may be a place inhabited by mentally disturbed people. The song begins with a
repetitive cadence of alliterative vocals. This pattern is dull and indicative of an endless ... Show more

sentence? Regardless of the song s resolution, Disturbia is unique in its attempt to intertwine dark and
complex lyrics within a contemporary sound. The song, like many others in its genre, has amassed
widespread success due to its memorable beats. However its lyrics also deserve notoriety; they suggest
that some modern pop songs contain underlying themes despite their radio friendly

Abortion And The Legal Rights Of The Fetus
One of many questions being debated today is Abortion and the moral legal rights of the fetus. Usually
debates about abortion focus on politics and the law. Some believe that the law shouldn t legislate
morality, but all good law is based upon moral values. Behind the debates are more fundamental
ethical questions which aren t always given the specific attention they deserve, like debating the legal
status of the fetus. Is the point of conception considered life of the fetus and does that fetus have
rights? Many consider the point of conception as the first stage in human development. From a
political perspective the first and most fundamental human right is the right to live. If this is so then

Muslim Women in the Entertainment Industry
Imagine a world immersed in beauty, wealth, gloss, and fame. I may be generalizing, but lets just say
it s a world in which you are born with a streaming talent that most individuals could only dream of.
You constantly have hordes of spectators cheering your success and everyone wants to be your friend.
The greatest fear of most women seems to be being hideous or lacking capacity and you have no idea
what that feels like. Seems spectacular, doesn t it? If you are a female actress or singer in the North

Taking part in movies that portray love scenes or god forbid, kissing, is horrifying and according to
the extremists in Islam, the women who indulge in these acts are no better than trash. It is true that
religious zealots are not the only ones who speak out about women in the entertainment industry, but
their voice is heard louder than anyone else s in the Muslim world. Their voices are so loud in fact,
that there is now an undeclared set boundary that female singers and actresses are expected to respect
and obediently stay within in the Islamic society. Things such as incorporating sexual moves in a
dance or being l?? lyrics in an album or track, depicting a sexually charged character a show, or even
displaying skin while dancing or performing are all extremely looked down upon by the Islamic
community. Although I am not endorsing all of these things (too much skin can get a bit
uncomfortable to watch), I am suggesting that these females are too restricted within their own career
by being told how to act and behave.
The intention of Islam is not to purposely discriminate against actresses and female singers. In fact, its
intentions are pure and honorable. The origin of dressing purely and conservatively on television and
in music came from the act of wearing the hijab, or the headscarf. Intended to shield women from the
wandering eyes of the evil intentioned men, the act of wearing the scarf was initiated for the

The Cask Of Amontillado By Edgar Allen Poe
Edgar Allen Poe sets the story in Italy during the rise of the Freemasons. As thinkers and specialists
began to enter the stonemason guilds, they saw a need for the creation of exclusive social clubs. These
social clubs provided members with access to other members with similar ideologies. These ideas lead
to networking that would enable members to share personal networking such as financial, political,
and social ties. As the social clubs grew, they eventually formed Freemasonry. With a secure network,
the Masons would be able to challenge the power of the aristocratic families. The masons would
support the revolutions that would lead to democracy. The perfect storm of networking and
revolutions resulted in the rise of the new money elite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The black clothing Montresor wears tells two stories of the character. The image he projects is a calm
and disciplined persona that lacks impulsive behaviors (Stepp 451). The clothing and black mask also
give off the appearance of a defacto executioner accompanying his victim on his last walk (Platizky
207). In the end, Montresor s upbringing in the old money class of the elite has shaped his view of the
world. Just as Montresor was constructed to be calm and decisive, Fortunato is portrayed as impulsive
and immature. At the beginning of the story, Fortunato is introduced wearing a motley outfit.
Fortunato s outfit brilliantly represents his personality and how he is viewed by the aristocratic
families of the time (Whatley 56,58). The costume builds the idea in the reader s mind that Fortunato
is the exact opposite of Montresor. This opposite effect is shown through many variations throughout
the story. First, Fortunato inadvertently insults Montresor when he admits that he has forgotten the
Montresor family crest and motto (Stepp 447, 449). While his ignorance is not the reason for the
revenge, it lets Poe depict Fortunato s naivety (White 551). Secondly, Fortunato s ego is on display
during the walk to his demise when Fortunato is informed that Luchesi will be the one to get to test
the authenticity of the Amontillado (Poe 209). This information brings out Fortunato s ego. Fortunato

America’s Drug War Essay
The War on Drugs, like the war on Terrorism, is a war that America may not be able to afford to win.
For over forty years the United States has been fighting the War on Drugs and there is no end in sight.
It has turned into a war that is about politics and economics rather than about drugs and criminals. The
victims of this war are numerous; but perhaps they are not as numerous as those who benefit from the
war itself.
History of U.S Drug Policy:
While laws prohibiting the use of drugs, in one form or another, can be traced back to the 1870s, it
was not until 1968, when Richard M. Nixon was elected President, that our current drug war was
conceived. In 1970 Congress passed the Comprehensive Drug Abuse and Control Act.(2) With an ...

Impressionism And Post-Impressionism
People judge a book by its cover. It is the ultimate truth, contrary to the popular adage. Being
judgmental of someone or something by the physical features is a natural human instinct. Accordingly,
in today s world, book publishers hire illustrators to make aesthetically pleasing book covers to
accompany their writing. They are designed to grasp attention when the books are displayed among
other books. This is why I decided to research about why a particular book cover was chosen and how
it was related to the story. Katherine Mansfield lived through art periods known as Impressionism and
Post Impressionism. Impressionism is a style or movement in painting originating in France in the

It is not surprising that Katherine Mansfield was an admirer of Post Impressionistic paintings. She
frequently visited the Post Impressionist exhibitions in London. As a big fan of Van Gogh s Sun
Flowers, she revealed that Van Gogh s paintings taught her something about writing which was queer
a kind of freedom or rather, a shaking free in her letter to Richard Murry. Perhaps this freedom abetted
her to implement different writing techniques which were not widely used. In At the Bay, Linda views
the sunset similar to a painting. Her perception is: But tonight it seemed to Linda there was something
infinitely joyful and loving in those silver beams. And now no sound came from the sea. (32). This is a

colorful language. Linda, with her watchful eyes is waiting for someone to come watching for
something to happen that intuitively did not occur. She tries to perceive and interpret herself and

about life. Likewise, the Bank Holiday depicts carnival life as a Post Impressionistic painting. The

A warm evening breeze blew through Reese Todd s short blonde hair as she took long strides towards

Never had she dared explore this city even though it was only about 75 miles from her vacation home

Analysis of Three Books About Gorbachev Essay
Analysis of Three Books About Gorbachev
The history of the Soviet Union is complicated and fascinating. In the course of only seventy years
this country has seen the development of the totally new system of state, economic growth, the growth
of hopes for the brighter future , and then the sudden and expected by no one collapse of the whole
system leading to chaos, wars, and confusion. One period is especially important in order to realize
how did things finally started to change after the seventy years of blindly pursuing the dream of
communism which left the Soviet Union in a very bad economical and moral state, and this period is
called perestroika, Russian for restructuring. The main figure behind this process which began in ...

This influence lasted for years and the fact that Gorbachev has become
westernized in his appearance, manners, dress and the image he projects of tolerance and cordial
behavior, all the small signs which mark him as different from the usual Komsomol and Party boss , is
according to Medvedev due to a great extent to the fact that Mlynar was Gorbachev s roommate
(Medvedev, 1986, p. 43).
Although the first part of the book is certainly interesting and important I would like to concentrate on
the second part of the book since it is directly deals with the subject that interests me most, that is the
years when Gorbachev was in power and the development of the new course in the Soviet life called
perestroika. From just reading the first paragraph it is obvious that the author approves of the new
leader. Medvedev writes: For the first time in
Soviet history, the leadership succession has meant more than the arrival of a new leader and the
possibility of the implementation of the new policies. The
Gorbachev succession marks the appearance of a new political generation which differs from the old

The Lovely Bones Dualism Essay
Director of the Lovely Bones,Peter Jackson successfully turned words on paper into a visual
masterpiece. The Lovely Bones is a dramatic thriller that depicts the beautiful life and tragic murder of
Susie Salmon. Through dualism along with specific blocking techniques and changing background
noises,Peter Jackson portrays the fallacy that is feeling safe in the suburbs, the connection people have
with their earthly possessions, and the falsehood that doing good things will lead to a good life.
Suburbs are often described as the safest place on earth, but there in the safest place,Susie would meet
her demise. No one would have ever suspected that a serial killer lived just a few doors down..Peter

Ralph Waldo Emerson s The Poet
What nature does and how nature works is not an interpretive science. There can only be one truth,
one right answer. In The Poet, Ralph Waldo Emerson claims that while the majority of the population
can sense the truth in nature, only poets can convert their into words without gross misinterpretation.
The truth lies where the air is music and poets are faithful listeners who are nearly fluent in the
language of truth. Emerson asserts that it is unjust to miswrite a poem, For nature is as truly beautiful
as it is good... and must as much appear. If there is only one right answer about the processes of
nature, then one religion, at most, could accurately interpret the world s creation and God s, or the
gods , intentions for nature and the human race. Either there s a heaven, a state of blissful nothingness,
a process of reincarnation, or maybe no religion to date has correctly guessed what happens to us after
death. William Blake discusses the significance of the similarities among people despite religions ...

First, Blake repeats some form of Mercy Pity Peace and Love six times in his five quatrain poem.
Then he specifically claims that God is present in every heathen, turk or jew. As members of the
Abrahamic faiths, Turks, presumably Muslim, and Jews believe in the same God Blake does.
Moreover, his inclusion of heathens demonstrates his love for all people, Christian or pagan. Through
his use of the words our and all Blake makes it clear that, in his eyes, God loves every man woman
and child. Finally, Blake employs an imperfect rhyme scheme, rhyming only two lines in each
quatrain. The poem would not be as powerful if Blake had forced a rhyme. This poem, like nature, is
beautiful despite its imperfections, which can thus be extended to humans. Blake s direct
interpretation of nature s truth is that people are not perfect, but God still loves and is a part of every

Auto Insurance Essay
Automobile Insurance
Insurance is a legal contract that protects people from the financial costs that result from loss of life,
loss of health, lawsuits or property damage. (Nielson.) This protection is given to the customer in
exchange for a monthly payment to the company. This is a legal contract which is known as a policy,
binds the customer to the insurance company for the duration of the policy. Insurance, whether it be
life, health or auto, helps customers feel safe from everyday risks that can happen in life. Most
insurance is optional, although some states enforce a law that automobile insurance must be purchased
in order to register a car. Automobile insurance is very important. It helps the policy holder to protect

There is also a type of coverage referred to ask medical payments coverage. If an accident occurs, this
coverage will help repay the driver or passengers for medical expenses caused by the accident. This is

(Heath 2.) One final type is the uninsured motorist coverage. This provides the customer with
protection from accidents with someone who has not purchased car insurance. This type would also
cover hit and run accident that may occur. Also, uninsured motorist insurance coverage comes into
play when an at fault driver doesn t have enough liability coverage to pay for the damages from the
accident. (Abramowitz 2.)
Insurance is a useful thing to invest in if you have possessions that are of value to you. It helps protect
you from accidents that a person cannot necessarily prevent in everyday life. Although insurance does
cost a large amount of money, in the long run the payback if an accident occurs, will be very useful in
taking care of the damages. There are many companies out there that offer insurance coverage. The
money invested helps a person keep things in order, so they are not scraping together when something

Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta Case Study
Introduction
A surge in the global population in the past century has brought about an immense strain on the
commons. It is estimated that 35% of the global population suffers from severe water stress (Wada et
al., 2010). Only 3% of the world s supply of water is freshwater, with 68.7% being locked away in the
glaciers, 30.1% in ground water, and 0.9% in surface water bodies (Shiklomanov, 1993). This makes
groundwater the most abundant fresh water source readily available for human consumption.
Estimates for global groundwater withdrawal are between 750 and 800 cubic kilometers per year
(Konikow et al., 2005). Severe land subsidence and depletion of the groundwater table is occurring in
both developing and developed nations. This has made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

India and the other half in Pakistan. Punjab has always been a rich agricultural region. Since 1998
however, Punjab has consistently had below average amounts of annual rainfall. The climate across
Punjab rarely ever sees temperatures drop below 0 degrees celsius, and is classified as subtropical.
The state is known for outputting 40 50% of the rice and 60 65% of the grain of the country s total

large increase in wells and groundwater extraction has led to a decrease in the water table by up to 2m

Soon after King James I became King of England, a dispute between high church leaders and the

King called a meeting on January 6, 1604. Dr. John Renalds, a professor at Oxford who was

The printing itself was substandard with uneven printing lines, the less modern blackletter typeface

Technically, VPN extends the concept of Local area network, where the main LAN at the company
headquarters is connected to multiple LANs in different company locations and individual users
(Protocols, 2008). Most organizations develop an intranet, which is an internal network used only by
company employees. It allowed all the employees to have one single access point for company
resources and updates. Implementing a VPN allowed remote users to access the intranet from any
location or even their homes (Tyson Crawford, 2015).

Broken Politics And Broken Dreams
Broken Politics Broken Dreams
What is a perfect form of government? What are politics and why do they matter? Now that you have
thought about it, you may have thought this. The perfect government is one that does not internally
fight itself over an opinion on a topic. It serves its citizens faithfully and cares for their thoughts and
opinions. Politics are supposed to influence the government to make it better and to support its
citizens. Politics helps us make a better government. Do you think America fits that description? We
should not because American politics are broken and ineffective at their main purpose.

America s entire political system is also just as sad and dysfunctional (Nicholas). This political
dysfunction makes American politics broken and it doesn t help that the key systems in use today just
do not work. Any work that can be done in the government is stalled or impossible to accomplish from

One of these systems, the American political parties, is another key system that has become broken in

Government. Both parties are always at odds with each other and never seem to agree on anything.
Both only agree on one thing though, and it s that of America s wellness. The problem now and days
is that you can t see them actually trying to make any positive difference. The constant bickering and

with internal fighting within these parties.
The reason for this internal fighting is from a ununited political party. This is best shown by the

Management vs Leadership
Management Leadership
Management and leadership are two of the most important positions to have for anyone in an
organization. Both of these positions come with a great deal of responsibilities; however, they both
serve two different purposes and responsibilities in an organization, along with a different sent of
guidelines.
Leadership
Leadership is a wonderful quality for anyone to have because not everyone possesses leadership
qualities and skills; however, a person can learn to have leadership qualities if he or she has the desire.

Leadership, in contrast, focuses on challenging and inspiring people. Management and leadership have
to work together to make sure the goal is achieved.
According to Stephen R. Covey, Management is problem oriented and leadership is opportunity
oriented .
A successful organization cannot exist without both strong leadership and great management. It is
important to remember that most people are not born with natural leadership skills and qualities, but
leadership can be learned and developed.
Conclusion
Management is clearly different from leadership. S. R. Covey, but I think it does not mean one is less
important, than the other. Covey wants us to understand, that leader is not only a position. However, it
takes an excellent leader and manager to be able to fulfill the leadership and management role
successfully for the benefit of the company and his or her people in all aspects of the business fields.
Therefore, every company, big or small, must have people, whom they can depend on, whole
heartedly, who can fulfill the leadership and management

How Does Temperature Affect Freezing Point
Topic: Does adding different substances to water effect the freezing rate?
Objectives:
The main objective of the experiment was to find the freezing rate of water when different substances
were added. The state of changing liquid to solid is called freezing point.
Introduction:
When temperature decreases, liquid changes into solid called freezing. The temperature at which the
solid liquid change takes place depends on the purity of the substance. Melting and freezing
temperature of pure compounds is fixed. While, it may be lower by the addition of any impurity like
salt, vinegar etc. to it.
During the freezing of a solution, two forces are basically acting against each other. The first force is
the external pressure . This force exerted in the neighbouring environment and this pushes down on to
the surface of the solution. The second force is called the vapour pressure and this is caused by the
molecules in the solution trying to push upwards (against the external pressure) and to evaporate (Ge
et al., 2008).
The condition where the freezing point of a liquid is lowered by the presence of an additive called
freezing point depression . This is observed in all solutions, and the freezing point is determined by
the amount of solute particles dissolved in the solvent (Ge et al., 2009)
At the freezing point of that particular solution, the chemical potential of the solution at liquid state
and solid state will be equal. Solute particles are able to dissolve only in a

To what extent do ways of knowing prevent us from deluding ourselves? Justify your answer with
reference to at least one area of knowledge
Ways of knowing are the core of TOK for us to get knowledge in different Areas of Knowledge. The
two key terms on this essay question are ways of Knowing and deluding ourselves . Ways of knowing
are how we acquire knowledge about the world around us, and figure out our relationship with it . (IB
Diploma Program, 31) Ways of Knowing help us to understand Areas of Knowledge fully. TOK has 8
Ways of Knowing; on this essay I will discuss the three ways: sense perception, emotions, and
reasoning. Deluding ourselves means to mislead the mind or judgment. It means deceiving ourselves.
In other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That fear will cause me to run (Theory of Knowledge). These decisions have to be decided quickly
and they come from our emotions.
The last but not the least is reasons. Reasoning is justification for something. Reasoning follows logic
or the truth. It prevents us from deluding ourselves since when we are reasoning we use evidence to
conclude and we accept the truth whether we like it or not. In order to get knowledge in science we
usually use inductive and deductive arguments. We need to see the past patterns to generalize
knowledge. Unless we generalize and put them as a theory or a law, it is hard to get knowledge from
natural science.
Deductive reasoning uses specific premises to conclude a truth, and if the premises are true, the
conclusion is impossible to be false. For example
All IB students must do TOK and EE
Adam is an IB student
Adam must do TOK and EE (Theory of Knowledge )
Such generalizations help us to come to a specific truth. In natural science, when scientists come up
with a theory, first they will do an experiment and they will look for patterns in order to make
conclusions. For example My grandfather has diabetes, my father has also has diabetes, and I also has
diabetes, so my son will have diabetes problem. Such knowledge is very important in natural science
to give a reliable knowledge through reasoning.
However, to some extent, ways of knowing may delude us from knowing the truth. Ways of knowing
are dependent on each

Reflection Paper On Clubbing
This section drove me confused at some crucial points and I was literally got scared for the fact of
getting different answers from one student to another. In my survey, I collected data among equal
number of male and female correspondents and I found out that most of the students are not
appreciating of what I thought about joining a club along with acquiring good academic results.
Figure 1: Column chart showing how students feel about clubbing
Here, my goal was to find out what the students think of clubbing before driving them into my main
questions and it seemed around 50% correspondents rated 3, around 29% rated 4 when on the other
hand, rest of the people nearly hate clubbing as around 4.17% rated both hate it and 1 as their
responses which was quite shocking for me to know about the fact that most of the correspondents
were not interested enough of feeling good about clubbing.
Figure 2: Pie chart showing student s response on clubbing as a mandatory part
In this part I wanted to know whether the students want clubbing as their obvious choice along with
their academic subjects or not. Major part of correspondents disagreed with around 37.5% responses,
29.2% stayed neutral as they were unable to decide probably, 12.5% strongly disagreed with the fact
when only 20.8% correspondents agreed with it and they assumed yes it should be a mandatory sector
for every student along with academic subjects. This led me to a thought that students do not want to
drive themselves into clubbing without a solid interest and they ended up discouraging those who
wants to be a part of clubbing to learn something new.
Figure 3: Line chart showing whether the clubbing students are advanced or not
I also wanted to know about the preference of my correspondents and whom do they support in
respect of advanced students as some might think that students who are involved in clubbing might
have something extra than the other ordinary students or some might think that joining a club cannot
make one advanced literally and around 75% responded that no it is not mandatory to join clubs to be
more advanced and only 25% correspondents agreed that yes clubbing students are advanced than the
ordinary students because of their daily field

Because I Could Not Stop For Death Housman Analysis
Death is quite scary thought isn t it? After all, it is a subject many people don t like to talk about. We
all fear death in some ways, such as losing a loved one, not knowing if they re still happy and even not
knowing what might come after death. Regardless of how we all feel on such a sad matter, it is truly
inevitable and we must all accept it. If we begin to look at death in a more beautiful way and not so
sinister, we can have a better understanding. In the two poems, Because I Could Not Stop For Death
by Emily Dickinson s and To An Athlete Dying Young by A.E. Housman while the theme differs, they
are much alike in some ways. Emily Dickinson s poem, Because I Could Not Stop For Death gives me
a sense of peace when it comes to death. The theme portrays death as a easy, peaceful ride when one
passes away. The overall metaphor here is comparing death to a carriage ride. She describes death as a
calm person, and she seemed to trust him as he took her through the town to her death, It felt like she
was getting one last ride to say goodbye and let go. The line We slowly drive He knew no haste gives

Housman is very sentimental and really touches me. The theme throughout the poem is clear, that an
athlete well known throughout a seemingly small town passed out. Any one that is a athlete will make
a connection with this poem, because I certainly did. The line And silence no worse than cheers makes
me feel a connection to a person i don t even know, I can imagine the crowd cheering on the person
and how quiet it must be the day he or she dies. Another line from the poem says it withers quicker
than the rose this is metaphor for how the cheerfulness of the town withered away after such a great
loss. The overall theme is very heartbreaking, the complete opposite of how I felt reading Emily
Dickinson s poem. Reading this I really felt like I was a part of the town that lost such a young

  • 2. Antisocial Personality Disorder Case Study Treatment recommendations for antisocial personality disorder, based on the patient s case, is a medication such as lithium carbonate, which has been found to reduce anger, threatening behavior and combativeness among prisoners (Black, 2013). Psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy are other options for treatment, but I would not recommend these for Gemma because of her background, environment, and stubborn personality. Prognosis is not very good because of two contributing factors. First, because the disorder is characterized by a failure to conform to society s norms, people with this disorder are often incarcerated because of criminal behavior. Secondly, a lack of insight into the disorder is very common. People with antisocial personality disorder typically see the world as having the problems, not him or herself, and therefore rarely seek treatment. If progress is made, it is typically over an extended period of time (Antisocial Personality Disorder, 2011). The research ethics committee identified several ethical concerns with the study of APD, including fair participant selection, confidentiality, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since Gemma cares so deeply about her family, she might benefit from hearing their opinions and concern for her. Also, the external structuring group therapy provides can control destructive behavior in spite of ego weakness. In groups, the therapist is less authoritative (and less threatening to the patient s grandiosity); intensity of emotional experience is lessened; and regression is more controlled, creating a better setting for confrontation and clarification (Grohol, 2013, p. 1). A con of group therapy is the possibility of not having enough time to talk and let your feelings known. Also, personality clashes are very likely to happen; a very aggressive member will not benefit a fragile member s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Iliad By Ancient Greek Poet Homer Essay The Iliad, written by ancient Greek poet Homer, chronicles the battle and events during the final weeks of The Trojan War, an armed conflict between the Achaeans army and the defenders of Troy. It further recounts the story of the wrath of Achilles, the greatest warrior in the Greek army, against King Agamemnon who unfairly appropriates Briseis, the lovely maiden belonging to Achilles after relinquishing his own maiden, Chryseis, in order to end the plague sweeping the Greek armies. Infuriated by Agamemnon s demands, the dishonored and humiliated Achilles initially withdraws from the king s army and enlists the service of Zeus, king of all gods, to bring upon the Achaean army a devastating loss. He later reconciles with Agamemnon and joins the Greek army to avenge his friend, Patroclus death, who was killed by Hector, the mightiest warrior in the Trojan army. As Achilles renters the battle, he experiences aristeias his finest, most glorious moments during the conflict as he is able to rout the Trojan army, mercilessly slaughtering them one by one, and dragging the mutilated body of Hector after brutally murdering him. It is only through these fearless, life threatening actions does Achilles achieve everlasting glory, honor and fame, bestowed to him by his community. In Homer s Iliad, Achilles aristeia supersedes the aristeias of other characters as the warrior is able to display unsurpassed skill and prowess in battle, is motivated to seek the principle of justice for his ... • 4. The Pros And Cons Of Uniforms In Schools School uniforms: a debate that has been tossed back and forth for years now. The percentage of schools that necessitate uniforms and the percentage of the ones that do not are approximately equal. This conveys a dispute that is difficult to find a definite solution for, due to the ambiguous negatives and positives being drawn between both arguments. Uniforms being a part of school systems became widespread first after Long Beach, California implemented them into their elementary and middle schools. It is safe to say that since then, schools have become far more lenient with what restrictions students have when it comes to uniforms. However, some others disagree with the policies on uniforms, believing that they obstruct on children s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It creates a unified community that has no economic or social barriers relating to clothing. To empathize the point being made, it should be known that hectoring youth can lead to both physical and emotional stress, depression, and in extreme cases, even death. When the threats of bullying are so prominent in a teenager s life, precautions must be made. Accepting uniforms in a school will help it present itself in a more professional and safe manner. For instance, if someone were to come up to the school requesting entrance wearing clothing previously banned, it would be a cause for suspicion. This could assist schools in being more efficient in the event of a lockdown or emergency. Meanwhile, schools are still being regularly threatened to date; a study states In addition, school uniforms are generally a benefit for parents, economically. With uniforms having the same style every year, albeit with occasional leniencies, there is not much cause for buying new uniforms yearly besides from a child growing. Without a school uniform, teenagers quickly tire of what they wear to school and want to get new clothes around every month. This is due to students wanting to stay with the times and the latest trends. In the logic of the adolescent mind, if you have the latest clothes, then it will boost your reputation and status on the school map, and so a time consuming cycle is forged. This would cost the parents more of their salary that could be better spent on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I. Harmful personal and physical effects of child labor A. Low pay B. Very long work hours C. Forbids children right in education D. Physical harm 1. Increased risk of accidents 2. In addition to that, one of the most important side effects is that working children may experience physical harm in a number of ways. These include an increased risk of accidents; children and young people often work in unregulated environments where little attention is paid to safety. Working children often experience violence in the workplace from adult staff and managers. Children and young people working in the street are also at risk of physical violence from police officers and other authority figures. Risk of illness from poor hygiene and exposure to bad weather can also be witnessed. Therefore, child labor involves the following characteristics: it violates a nation s minimum age laws, involves intolerable abuse, such as child slavery, child trafficking, debt bondage, forced labor, or illicit activities, prevents children from going to school, and uses children to undermine labor standards (December, 2007). Child labor can also be developmentally, emotionally, and physically abusive. Child workers are more vulnerable than adult workers, leaving them at risk for exploitation, dangerous and abusive conditions. In many parts of the world, it too often involves confinement, bondage, and forced labor; it frequently involves dangerous and unhealthy working conditions. • 6. Argumentative Essay On Homework Late nights, eyes only kept open by ungodly amounts of coffee, and never ending piles of paper: these are all symptoms of the nation sweeping homework epidemic. Students are assigned hours upon hours of after school homework every day but is it really necessary? Oftentimes, homework causes more harm than good on the mental, physical, and social health of students; therefore, after school assignments should be limited to the four core classes, minimizing those loads as much as possible, because more homework does not necessarily lead to highly successful students, immense amounts of stress are put on students every day, and an eight hour school day should be enough to disseminate the information needed. While some teachers believe that nightly homework is imperative to student achievement, data shows that homework at any level, from grade school to high school, does not equal success. Many East Asian countries, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Japan had lower average rates of homework, yet ranked very highly in math. While math homework is usually intended to practice the material learned in class that day, excessive repetition of the same equations will not make the information stick any more than a few practice problems. As stated by Ty Conner, ...children... are learning this material in order to complete their homework, which is in turn preparing them for a test, and after that test, the information... isn t reviewed afterwards . • 7. The Proxy War And The Korean War Proxy Wars. In the 1947 the Cold war began with two superpowers, the United States and the USSR interested in Eastern Europe. Different Ideologies Communism and Capitalism became the issues in different countries. They fought over which countries would go to communism or capitalism. These countries included Greece and Turkey, the Suez crisis, The Vietnam war and one of the biggest proxy wars that still have tension today, the Korean War. The Korean war between communist north Korea and their allies were the USSR and China while South Korea was an ally of the United States. The war started in June of 1950 through July 1953, even though it lasted 3 years it became one of the deadliest wars in modern history, US believed that if the USSR were to take Korea that ¾ of the world would become communism and so through the US containment policy, they became involved so communism would not spread. The reason the United states decided to take action was because a non communist country was getting attacked by a communist country and their duty was to interfere and stop the attack. The soviets also wanted to intervene in countries like Greece and Turkey. This brought up the Marshall plan. The Marshall plan was a European Recovery Program that gave assistance to European countries to help them grow and prevent communism. The US also brought in the Truman Doctrine which was an American external dogma to counter the spread of USSR political ideas such as communism. Therefore, As Soviets ... She tells the story of the nine students from the time she turned sixteen years old and began keeping a diary until her final days at Central High School in Little Rock. The state and town passed laws and ordinances as the school year drew near in order to keep the school from integrating. Even the state governor refused for the desegregation process to happen without resistance. Some blacks also opposed the desegregation for fear of future repercussions. The nine brave students, however, refused to be stopped. On September 3, Elizabeth Eckford, Ernest Green, Jefferson Thomas, Minnijean Brown (Trickey), Carlotta Walls (LaNier), Terrence Roberts, Gloria Ray (Karlmark), Thelma Mothershed Wair, and Melba Patillo Beals set off for school. The governor of Arkansas, Orvel Faubus, had sent National Guardsmen to the school the previous day to surround the building and keep all African Americans from entering its doors. He stated in an interview that the reason for the troops was he heard a rumor that white supremacists were going to riot and he was just protecting the students. He declared Central High off limits to all people of color in order for their own protection . The students never did make it into school that day. Modern morality is not only taught through actions, stories or experiences however constructed by the feelings within. Going along with Socrates ideas, Eris and Eros can be confined in the soul but the structure of Olympian morality will never be destroyed. Destroying Eris would also destroy Eros and not only would no bad exist, but nothing good would exist either. Therefore the Sophist s mentality could never become the mentality in which society is driven by. If all good and bad were removed from society there would be nothing to fuel desires, hopes, dreams, hardships or emotions. Preluding to the Trojan War, Helen is always property. Never once is choice an option of Helens. She is given as a prize, a trophy, to the one who will triumph over the other (Homer). No one considered asking Helen what she truly desired; therefore to settle the issue, men were killed in warfare to come to a conclusion that should have been determined by choice. Women were not deemed important figures in ancient society and men ruled the world in which they lived. Until Socratic ideals, one can say that women were only the property of men. Socrates tried to explore the world of femininity and discover the soul; he was killed for believing that there is more to an individual then what the divine interprets (Plato s Apology). • 11. Rihanna s Disturbia In a world where vapid bubble gum pop songs garner the most Youtube hits, radio requests, and overall attention from today s youth, it is shocking to think that a pop music icon could release such a thought provoking song. Contrary to the quintessential 21st century radio hits, Rihanna s 2008 single entitled Disturbia challenges listeners to look beyond captivating beats and an irrefutably alluring hook. Beneath the rhythmically appealing instrumentals lies a series of ominous lyrics that would assuredly frighten the listeners if they comprehended these lines on a deeper level. The speaker explores themes of mental illness and Hollywood infamy and employs a desperate tone that begs the listener for assistance. The title itself instills a simultaneous feeling of familiarity and enigma in the listener. Familiarity is present as the root word disturb is easily identifiable, but the title also elicits feelings of confusion because Disturbia is not an actual word in the English language. The ia ending suggests that it may be a place inhabited by mentally disturbed people. The song begins with a repetitive cadence of alliterative vocals. Their voices are so loud in fact, that there is now an undeclared set boundary that female singers and actresses are expected to respect and obediently stay within in the Islamic society. Things such as incorporating sexual moves in a dance or being l?? lyrics in an album or track, depicting a sexually charged character a show, or even displaying skin while dancing or performing are all extremely looked down upon by the Islamic community. Although I am not endorsing all of these things (too much skin can get a bit uncomfortable to watch), I am suggesting that these females are too restricted within their own career by being told how to act and behave. The intention of Islam is not to purposely discriminate against actresses and female singers. In fact, its intentions are pure and honorable. • 14. The Cask Of Amontillado By Edgar Allen Poe Edgar Allen Poe sets the story in Italy during the rise of the Freemasons. As thinkers and specialists began to enter the stonemason guilds, they saw a need for the creation of exclusive social clubs. These social clubs provided members with access to other members with similar ideologies. These ideas lead to networking that would enable members to share personal networking such as financial, political, and social ties. As the social clubs grew, they eventually formed Freemasonry. With a secure network, the Masons would be able to challenge the power of the aristocratic families. The masons would support the revolutions that would lead to democracy. The black clothing Montresor wears tells two stories of the character. The image he projects is a calm and disciplined persona that lacks impulsive behaviors (Stepp 451). The clothing and black mask also give off the appearance of a defacto executioner accompanying his victim on his last walk (Platizky 207). In the end, Montresor s upbringing in the old money class of the elite has shaped his view of the world. Just as Montresor was constructed to be calm and decisive, Fortunato is portrayed as impulsive and immature. At the beginning of the story, Fortunato is introduced wearing a motley outfit. Fortunato s outfit brilliantly represents his personality and how he is viewed by the aristocratic families of the time (Whatley 56,58). The costume builds the idea in the reader s mind that Fortunato is the exact opposite of Montresor. This opposite effect is shown through many variations throughout the story. First, Fortunato inadvertently insults Montresor when he admits that he has forgotten the Montresor family crest and motto (Stepp 447, 449). While his ignorance is not the reason for the revenge, it lets Poe depict Fortunato s naivety (White 551). Secondly, Fortunato s ego is on display during the walk to his demise when Fortunato is informed that Luchesi will be the one to get to test the authenticity of the Amontillado (Poe 209). Emerson asserts that it is unjust to miswrite a poem, For nature is as truly beautiful as it is good... and must as much appear. For example when we are going to college then our vehicle must be parked first and then after college we can take it back. Strange is not it, when we go to college while bringing the vehicle into the classroom? Therefore, every place or building must have a parking space. In this day and age, almost everyone has a vehicle. Of the number of existing vehicles prove that the parking area should be wide especially campus environment. Why should parking area be wide? She had a sister, Frances Parthenope Verney,Florence would call her Parthe, Parthenope was also named after her birth place. Since Florence and her sister did not go to school they were tutored by their father, he taught them mathematics, history, and many different languages, Latin, Greek, German,Italian, and French. He taught them because he could not find a tutor with logical skill and expertise which he demanded constantly. He let a governess teach them only music and drawing. Her father was extremely wealthy and her mother was very intelligent. She grew up in Florence, Italy and moved to London, England later on. She wanted to be a nurse when she grew up and had it all planned out, but her family did not like her plan. Florence just ignored them and still wanted to continue to learn more about nursing. • 33. How Does Temperature Affect Freezing Point Topic: Does adding different substances to water effect the freezing rate? Objectives: The main objective of the experiment was to find the freezing rate of water when different substances were added. The state of changing liquid to solid is called freezing point. Introduction: When temperature decreases, liquid changes into solid called freezing. The temperature at which the solid liquid change takes place depends on the purity of the substance. Melting and freezing temperature of pure compounds is fixed. While, it may be lower by the addition of any impurity like salt, vinegar etc. to it. During the freezing of a solution, two forces are basically acting against each other. The first force is the external pressure . This force exerted in the neighbouring environment and this pushes down on to the surface of the solution. The second force is called the vapour pressure and this is caused by the molecules in the solution trying to push upwards (against the external pressure) and to evaporate (Ge et al., 2008). The condition where the freezing point of a liquid is lowered by the presence of an additive called freezing point depression . This is observed in all solutions, and the freezing point is determined by the amount of solute particles dissolved in the solvent (Ge et al., 2009) At the freezing point of that particular solution, the chemical potential of the solution at liquid state and solid state will be equal. Solute particles are able to dissolve only in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Justify your answer with reference to at least one area of knowledge Ways of knowing are the core of TOK for us to get knowledge in different Areas of Knowledge. The two key terms on this essay question are ways of Knowing and deluding ourselves . Ways of knowing are how we acquire knowledge about the world around us, and figure out our relationship with it . (IB Diploma Program, 31) Ways of Knowing help us to understand Areas of Knowledge fully. TOK has 8 Ways of Knowing; on this essay I will discuss the three ways: sense perception, emotions, and reasoning. Deluding ourselves means to mislead the mind or judgment. It means deceiving ourselves. In other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That fear will cause me to run (Theory of Knowledge). These decisions have to be decided quickly and they come from our emotions. The last but not the least is reasons. Reasoning is justification for something. Reasoning follows logic or the truth. It prevents us from deluding ourselves since when we are reasoning we use evidence to conclude and we accept the truth whether we like it or not. In order to get knowledge in science we usually use inductive and deductive arguments. We need to see the past patterns to generalize knowledge. Unless we generalize and put them as a theory or a law, it is hard to get knowledge from natural science. Deductive reasoning uses specific premises to conclude a truth, and if the premises are true, the conclusion is impossible to be false. For example All IB students must do TOK and EE Adam is an IB student Adam must do TOK and EE (Theory of Knowledge ) Such generalizations help us to come to a specific truth. In natural science, when scientists come up with a theory, first they will do an experiment and they will look for patterns in order to make conclusions. For example My grandfather has diabetes, my father has also has diabetes, and I also has diabetes, so my son will have diabetes problem. Such knowledge is very important in natural science to give a reliable knowledge through reasoning. However, to some extent, ways of knowing may delude us from knowing the truth. • 36. The Importance Of Common Core Standards Over the last few years, there has been a huge shift is classroom dynamics and teaching with the introduction of Common Core standards. The new standards are requiring students to think in different ways than they are accustomed to and teachers are finding themselves teaching using entirely different teaching methods, all while trying to maintain a balance of more effective practices and what teachers are most comfortable with. In an attempt to keep aligned with the new standards, elementary school across America are in the process of trying various new strategies that conflict with the beliefs of many teachers. Link Between Number Sense and Counting This synthesis paper is examining the direct link between counting and building student s number sense. The study conducted by Baccaglini Frank and Maracci (2015), number sense as being vital to learning formal mathematics and stated there was a positive correlation between using fingers for counting and representing numbers has a positive effect on number sense. Students need opportunities to practice counting and establish foundational skills in number sense in order to be successful during their mathematical futures. It was determined that touching, moving, and seeing representations are essential components of the mathematical thinking process (Baccaglini Frank Maracci, 2015). • 37. Reflection Paper On Clubbing This section drove me confused at some crucial points and I was literally got scared for the fact of getting different answers from one student to another. In my survey, I collected data among equal number of male and female correspondents and I found out that most of the students are not appreciating of what I thought about joining a club along with acquiring good academic results. Figure 1: Column chart showing how students feel about clubbing Here, my goal was to find out what the students think of clubbing before driving them into my main questions and it seemed around 50% correspondents rated 3, around 29% rated 4 when on the other hand, rest of the people nearly hate clubbing as around 4.17% rated both hate it and 1 as their responses which was quite shocking for me to know about the fact that most of the correspondents were not interested enough of feeling good about clubbing. Figure 2: Pie chart showing student s response on clubbing as a mandatory part In this part I wanted to know whether the students want clubbing as their obvious choice along with their academic subjects or not. Major part of correspondents disagreed with around 37.5% responses, 29.2% stayed neutral as they were unable to decide probably, 12.5% strongly disagreed with the fact when only 20.8% correspondents agreed with it and they assumed yes it should be a mandatory sector for every student along with academic subjects. This led me to a thought that students do not want to drive themselves into clubbing without a solid interest and they ended up discouraging those who wants to be a part of clubbing to learn something new. Figure 3: Line chart showing whether the clubbing students are advanced or not I also wanted to know about the preference of my correspondents and whom do they support in respect of advanced students as some might think that students who are involved in clubbing might have something extra than the other ordinary students or some might think that joining a club cannot make one advanced literally and around 75% responded that no it is not mandatory to join clubs to be more advanced and only 25% correspondents agreed that yes clubbing students are advanced than the ordinary students because of their daily field ... • 38. Because I Could Not Stop For Death Housman Analysis Death is quite scary thought isn t it? After all, it is a subject many people don t like to talk about. We all fear death in some ways, such as losing a loved one, not knowing if they re still happy and even not knowing what might come after death. Regardless of how we all feel on such a sad matter, it is truly inevitable and we must all accept it. If we begin to look at death in a more beautiful way and not so sinister, we can have a better understanding. In the two poems, Because I Could Not Stop For Death by Emily Dickinson s and To An Athlete Dying Young by A.E. Housman while the theme differs, they are much alike in some ways. Emily Dickinson s poem, Because I Could Not Stop For Death gives me a sense of peace when it comes to death. The theme portrays death as a easy, peaceful ride when one passes away. The overall metaphor here is comparing death to a carriage ride. She describes death as a calm person, and she seemed to trust him as he took her through the town to her death, It felt like she was getting one last ride to say goodbye and let go. The line We slowly drive He knew no haste gives death ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Housman is very sentimental and really touches me. Any one that is a athlete will make a connection with this poem, because I certainly did. The line And silence no worse than cheers makes me feel a connection to a person i don t even know, I can imagine the crowd cheering on the person and how quiet it must be the day he or she dies. Another line from the poem says it withers quicker than the rose this is metaphor for how the cheerfulness of the town withered away after such a great loss. The overall theme is very heartbreaking, the complete opposite of how I felt reading Emily Dickinson s poem. Reading this I really felt like I was a part of the town that lost such a young ...
