This document provides descriptions of various shots taken during re-shoots for a student film. It describes establishing shots that introduce the characters and setting of an abandoned house. It also discusses shots taken from different angles both inside and outside the house to develop scenes where the characters investigate the building and have an unsettling encounter with an unseen villain.

1. Re-shoots
This was used as our establishing shot in our film and although it was
meant to be abandoned, we forgot about the range rover parked
outside.
This was the character establishing shot where the audience get the first
glimpse at the cast of the film all in the scene at once before their
individual appearances.
This is where the audience get to meet the characters individually, and
where the first lines of the film are spoken.
This is where the audience get to meet the second character. We used a
lot of natural lighting for this scene so it was easy to see the characters
and from my feedback I needed to make their voices louder over the
music.

Although I wasn’t allowed to address the audience (because I was
actually driving), I still said my lines. This was the scene where all of the
friends were driving around trying to find somewhere to stay the night,
and where they came across an ‘abandoned’ house.

2. This was the view from the car as we were driving along the road. We
hoped that this isolated setting would be typical of a horror film and the
eerie woods helped us to do that.
All outside the house looking in to decide whether it was safe to go inside
to investigate.
We decided to mix the shots up and so we got an over the shoulder POV
shot of the characters so that the audience could get into their shoes and
feel what they are feeling.
This is from the other side because it focuses on Richard because it was
his line, from this angle it makes it look like there is a fifth member which
the audience can get into the feel of them and so become that fifth
member.
This was a high angle shot and this was made to look like the killer was
watching the people as they walked in and this shot became one of our
favourites because we made it into a whip-pan shot that went from this
shot to one where they first entered the building
This is again a shot that makes the audience think that they are the fifth
member as they all walk into the building.

3. This was another shot that was made to look like the killer, as the
character rises from out of the bushes. (my idea)
This was the shot of them arriving into the new building and this was the
shot where the whip-pan went to .

fact that they had just arrived and found the light switch straight away)
Over the shoulder shot as one of the characters is talking to the group
about who should go upstairs to look around.

This person was the most dominant of the group, and this was one of the
outtakes where he didn’t stop laughing.
This was where they were discussing who should venture upstairs to see
if anyone owns the house.

4. The group then decided that the weaker member should go upstairs
because they were bullying him for being scared.

When he’s upstairs he sees the villain and runs down stirs but only after
he disappeared. He then reappears behind him inside the house. spooky
After running back down the stairs he calls for the group to tell them
what he has seen.
They all arrive to meet him, but he explains that he doesn’t know what
he has seen, and it ends on a cliff hanger ready for the rest of the film.
Although we didn’t use this shot it was a good shot to have taken to set
the scene ready to carried on.
This isn’t the whole film, this is only the re-shoots we took there are many other shots that we included.
