Deadlock handling is a technique used in relational database management systems to resolve deadlocks. A deadlock occurs when two or more transactions are waiting for resources held by each other in a circular chain. The database system must detect this situation and abort one of the transactions to break the deadlock cycle. By aborting one of the transactions, it allows the other transactions to continue and resolves the competition for resources that caused the deadlock.
