What is meant by sustainability?
Although sustainability is often identified with having sufficient funds to cover an organizationโs activities, it is actually a broader concept. There are three fundamental streams of sustainability: institutional, financial and programmatic. Each is vital to the survival of an organization. Below are the definitions of these three areas of sustainability:
Programmatic sustainability. The organization delivers products and services that respond to clientsโ needs and anticipates new areas of need. Its success enables expansion of its client base.
Institutional sustainability. The organization has a strong, yet flexible structure and accountable, transparent governance practices. Its structure and good governance allows it to respond to the shifting priorities of its supporters and to new responsibilities toward its clients, while creating a positive work climate for its staff.
Financial sustainability. The organization draws on various sources of revenue, allowing it to support its ongoing efforts and to undertake new initiatives.
Figure 2 below shows how all of these streams of sustainability are exercised in an organization. The strategic plan is the anchor, in which an organizationโs programs, structure and systems, as well as financials are reviewed and new business opportunities are identified. These new directions or new business opportunities are then pursued using a distinct resource mobilization strategy, such as writing proposals, submitting grant applications, or drafting business cases or business plans. All of these instruments are designed to showcase an organizationโs programs, institutional structure, and financial health.

The Origins of Power
Power is exercised in all societies. Every society has a system of sanctions, whether formal or informal, designed to control the behavior of its members. Informal sanctions may include expressions of disapproval, ridicule, or fear of supernatural punishments. Formal sanctions involve recognized ways of censuring behaviorโfor example, ostracism or exile from the group, loss of freedom, physical punishment, mutilation or death, or retribution visited upon the offender by a member of the family or group that has been wronged.
Power in society is exercised for four broad purposes:
To maintain peace, order, and stability within the society
To organize and direct community enterprises
To conduct warfare, both defensive and aggressive, against other societies
To rule and exploit subject peoples

Even in the least-developed societies, power relationships emerge for the purposes of maintaining order, organizing economic enterprise, conducting offensive and defensive warfare, and ruling over subject peoples.

Typically, a family consists of an adult female and an adult male, sometimes joined through marriage, as well as dependent children. Though this is typical, there are numerous variations including families with only one adult or families not related by blood. But within most families, power is exercised in some fashion. Typically this occurs when work is divided between male and female and parents and children and when patterns of dominance and submission are established between male and female, parents and children.

Nation-Class Perspective: We must analyze everything from the interests of our New Afrikan Nation (and our homeland Afrika and our people, Afrikans) and also in the interests of the oppressed, exploited Afrikan masses. We must always try to analyze the nation/class interests involved in everything; historical present- day, and future. Thus it is clear that anywhere you find racism (national oppression) and class exploitation, they must be fought against. 2. There is positive and negative in everything: We must always try to identify opposing forces in everything. We must look for the positive forces and the negative forces in all social processes; at all levels, and in all aspects. When we say positive, we mean those forces which are in line with our goal (Pan Afrikanism, one unified socialist Afrika) and our ideology (Nkrumahism Toureism). When we say negative, we mean anything that is opposed to our goal and ideology. 3. Change is constant 4. Everything changes: It is the struggle between the positive and negative forces in everything that produces change. We must look for the movement and direction of movement in all things because everything is in motion, although at different rates and speed. Change that occurs slow and gradual without violent or sudden jumps is called evolutionary; while change that occurs rapidly, violently, or with a sudden leap is called revolutionary change (if the change is total and some new quality or state of being occurs). From this we can see then that revolution is a way for man to consciously speed up his positive development. Conflict that causes change is antagonistic, (violent, principled, intense) or non-antagonistic (non- violent, tactical, less intense and hostile). RBG Tools for Analysis

This will help us properly understand the role of heroes and individuals as only catalysts in the historical development of mankind. We know that history is only changed and moved forward through the collective activity of the working, struggling masses of the people. 8. Matter is primary: We know that both matter and mind (spirit) exist, but that matter is primary, and all that is "spiritual" (i.e., not matter) arises from matter.
