Scene 1
Narrator 1: Rapunzel’s mummy loves salad. But it’s winter and there’s no
salad in her garden.
Narrator 2: One day she looks out of the window and sees some beautiful
salad in the witch’s garden.
Rapunzel’s mum (to her husband): Look at that beautiful salad in the
witch’s garden. Please go and pick a
basket of salad for me. You can go
tonight when it’s dark.
Scene 2
Narrator 3: It’s dark and Rapunzel’s daddy climbs over the wall and
goes into the witch’s garden.
Narrator 4: He picks a big basket of salad for his wife.
Witch (to Rapunzel’s dad): What are you doing? You’re a thief! You’re
stealing my salad.
Rapunzel’s dad: Oh, I’m sorry! My wife loves salad but there’s no salad in
our garden in the winter.
Witch: You can have my salad. But … what can you give me?
Rapunzel’s dad: I’m a poor man. I have nothing to give you.
Witch: Yes, you have. You have a daughter. I want your daughter!
Rapunzel’s dad: No! Please! Don’t take my daughter!
Narrator 5: The witch goes to Rapunzel’s house.
Narrator 1: Rapunzel is sleeping.
Narrator 2: The witch wakes Rapunzel up and takes her away.

2. Scene 3
Narrator 3: Rapunzel’s a happy girl and lives in the forest with the witch for
many years.
Narrator 4: One day Rapunzel and the witch are sitting in the garden.
Witch: Rapunzel, you’re a very beautiful girl, but you’re too old to
live here with me now. It’s time for you to go the tower!
Narrator 5: The witch takes Rapunzel to a tower far away in the forest.
Narrator 1: The tower is a prison with no door and only one window!
Witch: This is your house now!
Rapunzel: No! No! I can’t live here!!!
Witch: Yes! This is your house now! I can come every day to see you!
Rapunzel: No! No! Please take me with you! This isn’t a house! It’s a prison!
Scene 4
Narrator 1: Every day Rapunzel sits and looks out of the window.
Narrator 2: She can see the trees and the beautiful flowers in the forest.
Narrator 3: She sings with the birds and watches the forest animals.
Narrator 4: But … she’s unhappy.
Narrator 5: Rapunzel has beautiful long, blond hair.
Narrator 1: When the witch comes to the tower she says …
Witch: Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair.
Narrator 2: Rapunzel lets down her hair and the witch climbs up to the
window.

3. Scene 5
Narrator 3: One day a prince is riding on his horse near the tower and he
hears Rapunzel.
Narrator 4: She is singing.
Prince: Who is that singing?
Narrator 5: He rides to the tower and sees a beautiful girl.
Narrator 1: She is looking out of the window in the tower.
Narrator 2: He sees the witch and hides behind some trees!
Witch: Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair.
Narrator 3: Rapunzel lets down her hair and the witch climbs up to the
window.
Narrator 4: The next day the prince goes to the tower.
Prince: Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair.
Narrator 5: Rapunzel lets down her hair and the prince climbs up to the
window.
Rapunzel: Who are you?
Prince: I’m a friend.
Narrator 1: The prince goes to see Rapunzel every day.
Narrator 2: They talk and laugh and Rapunzel is happy.
Narrator 3: But … one day the witch sees the prince.
Narrator 4: He’s waving goodbye to Rapunzel.
Narrator 5: The witch is angry! She goes to the tower.
Witch: Rapunzel! Who is that man?
Rapunzel: He’s my friend
Witch: You can’t have friends!

4. Narrator 1: The witch cuts off Rapunzel’s beautiful hair and she takes her to
a cave far away in the hills.
Narrator 2: The next day the prince goes to the tower.
Narrator 3: But Rapunzel isn’t there!
Witch: Go away! Rapunzel isn’t here and you can’t find her!!!’
Prince: I CAN find her!
Scene 5
Narrator 4: The prince looks for Rapunzel for many years.
Narrator 5: One day he finds the cave!
Narrator 1: Rapunzel and the prince are very happy.
Prince: Rapunzel, come with me to my palace and marry me.
Scene 6
Narrator 2: Rapunzel and the prince are riding to the palace.
Narrator 3: They see a small house.
Narrator 4: An old man and an old woman are picking salad in the garden.
Rapunzel (to the prince): Stop!
Narrator 5: Rapunzel goes into the garden.
Rapunzel: Mum! Dad!
Rapunzel’s mum: Rapunzel!
Rapunzel’s dad: You’re home!
Prince: I want to marry your daughter.
Rapunzel’s mum: That’s wonderful!
Rapunzel’s dad: I’m very happy for you.

5. Prince: Come with us to my palace!
Rapunzel: Yes, please come with us.
Scene 7
Narrators 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5: Rapunzel and the prince have a beautiful wedding in
the palace garden and …they are very, very happy!
