This document provides information on using flash slides of common objects to teach English vocabulary to children in primary schools. 2. Introduction
• There are a large number of English Medium schools in and
nearby District and Tehsil towns
• The children who enter these schools come from Marathi
language speaking homes and social surroundings.
• The children have no English speaking or comprehension
skills.
• These flash slides based on common everyday objects can
be used to rapidly increase the children’s vocabulary and
pronunciation of English.
• They can introduce nouns, adjectives, numbers, colours,
propositions.
• A separate series of video slides are being seperately to
introduce verbs, tenses and adverbs.

3. How to Use
• These slides can be used in pre-primary or primary schools
– nursery, junior KG, senior KG, first and second standard
• These slides use photographs of common every-day objects
and describe them.
• They can be used by the teacher to ask questions like What
is this? Where is it? On what is it? What is near it? How
many things are there? What is their colour?
• They will introduce names of objects, colour, numbers,
adjectives, conjunctions
• Their pronunciation will introduce children to English
phonemes and their different combinations, word order
• The same slides can be used at different levels of children’s
maturity. The next slide illustrates this principle.

In Junior KG use this slide for children to say “Dog”, in senior KG use this
to say “Brown Dog”, in 1st “Brown Dog Sitting on a mat” and in 2nd the
whole sentence.
