Wisconsin Clean Cities (WCC) received CMAQ program funding and partnered with Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) to offer over-the-road trucks eco-driving training. Eco-driving involves learning techniques to maximize a vehicle's energy efficiency. The drivers were taught eco-driving skills such as progressive shifting, efficient route planning, vehicle checklists, emission reduction, anti-idling practices, and other fuel saving tips.
Hi; Dearest Friends!!!!
Road accidents major issue of the World. So many people affected & dead for its every day,
So; I would like to greetings on Road safety Life Safety all of you for universal, social and , humanity etc.
Most of the traffic accidents can be avoided if you drive safely. “But is it possible at all?” you might ask. What if the accident happened at others fault? What if bad weather was the culprit? What if there were other reasons not under my control that caused the accident? The answer is simple: You can significantly minimize - and in many cases even eliminate - traffic accidents if you drive defensively.
The standard defines defensive driving as "driving to save lives, time, and money, in spite of the conditions around you and the actions of others."
Outlined in this presentation 12 Commandments of defensive driving are the recommendations of Pro Defensive Drivers and are based on a solid and proven practice of accident-free driving collected during decades of driving on real roads.
Transmission is a part of the car which connects the engine to the wheels. When car speeds up, the engine can not speed up in the same proportion, so there are gears involved which match the engine speed to the wheel speed so that we can drive faster or slower than the engine speed.

Mumbai is the financial and commercial capital of India. Mumbai wouldn’t have achieved this without the lifeline of the city –its local trains. For any large densely populated urban area, the local trains are essential for a speedy cross-over of a large population over long distances. Lakhs of people travel regularly and commute by local trains over varying distances ranging from 10 to 60 kilometer a day.
The branch of Civil Engineering which deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the railway tracks for safe and efficient movements of trains is called Railway Engineering

(2) Flat Footed Rails (F.F. Rail)
(3) Bull Headed Rails (B.H. Rail)

When rail safety issues or incidents start to arise, community leaders and concerned citizens need a process to resolve the issue. This book provides an easy to follow framework to guide community leaders towards safer environments and reduction of safety risks. Simply put, this guide details the steps a community should follow to make their environment safer for everyone.

In a May 9, 2024 paper, Juri Opitz from the University of Zurich, along with Shira Wein and Nathan Schneider form Georgetown University, discussed the importance of linguistic expertise in natural language processing (NLP) in an era dominated by large language models (LLMs).
The authors explained that while machine translation (MT) previously relied heavily on linguists, the landscape has shifted. “Linguistics is no longer front and center in the way we build NLP systems,” they said. With the emergence of LLMs, which can generate fluent text without the need for specialized modules to handle grammar or semantic coherence, the need for linguistic expertise in NLP is being questioned.

1. Safety In Numbers: Evaluating
Canadian Rail Safety Data
Jennifer Winter
April 2, 2014

2. Recent Derailments
• Fire or Explosions
– Lac-Mégantic, QC, July 6, 2013
– Gainsford, AB, Oct 19, 2013
– Casselton, ND, Dec 30, 2013
– Plaster Rock, NB, Jan 7, 2014
www.policyschool.ca
3. Policy Response to Recent Derailments
• Implemented new safety measures and regulations
• Parliamentary Committee review of transportation
of dangerous goods in Canada and safety mgmt
systems
– What additional measures could be taken to
strengthen TDG safety across all modes of
transportation?
– How does Canada’s TDG regime compare to that of
the United States?
– Should the implementation of safety mgmt systems be
adjusted to provide a greater focus on TDG?
www.policyschool.ca
5. State of the Data
• “Safe” = probability of an accident/incident
• TSB reports main-track accidents per million
main-track train miles
– In 2012, 1.6 accidents per MMTTM
• Equivalent to
– 0.1% chance of an accident within 1,000 km
during a trip of at least 1,000 km
www.policyschool.ca
6. Problems with Reported Data
• Not comparable to other modes or countries
• Ignores non-main-track accidents; more
frequent
• Doesn’t distinguish between freight and
passenger
• Ignores potentially important contributing
factors
www.policyschool.ca
7. Other Data Issues
• Accessibility
• Inconsistency in reporting
– TSB reports fire/explosions
– TC only reports fire
– TSB/TC numbers not always consistent
– StatsCan reports accidents for dangerous
goods and top commodities
www.policyschool.ca
8. Recommendations
1. Develop a transportation data portal that consolidates the data
on rail, road, pipeline, marine and air transportation.
2. Require Canada’s main rail companies to report detailed trip
information to Transport Canada, which is then available to
the public through a data portal.
3. Distinguish between freight and passenger trains in current
accident and incident statistics.
4. Develop consistent standards of reporting railway
occurrences.
5. Clarify what situations lead to classification as an accident
versus an incident.
