Ra was the ancient Egyptian sun god, often depicted as a man with a hawk's head wearing the double crown of Egypt. He was considered the ruler of all he created, including the seasons, plants and animals. In Egyptian mythology, Ra was believed to travel across the sky and underworld in solar boats, accompanied by other deities. At night, he battled the serpent Apophis who tried to stop his journey, and traveled through various underworld forms before being reborn each morning to create light, warmth and growth once more.
