Nicolaus Copernicus made important contributions to astronomy. He believed that mathematics was written for mathematicians and that most people could not understand his work due to a lack of mathematical skills. Copernicus also believed that the Earth was not the center of the universe, but rather that the Sun was at the center. Additionally, he stated that the Earth was merely an insignificant part of the vast heavens. Copernicus had the courage to challenge traditional ideas, seeking the truth about planetary motion despite facing opposition, and ultimately succeeded in advancing our understanding of the solar system before passing away at an old age.
