This document discusses cognitive biases and defines several types. It begins by explaining that cognitive biases are tendencies of thinking that can lead people to make systematic errors in judgment. Some of the biases discussed include status quo bias (preference for maintaining the current situation), stereotype bias (unconscious attribution of qualities to social groups), confirmation bias (favoring information that confirms existing beliefs), and recency bias (remembering recent information best). The document traces the discovery of cognitive biases to the work of Amos Tversky and Daniel Kahneman in 1972 and provides examples of how each bias can influence thinking.

What have you learned from your audience feedbackgreenie101
The document discusses feedback received from audiences on three media projects: a radio trailer, TV listings magazine spread, and documentary.
Feedback on the radio trailer was positive, with 80% interested in the topic and finding the narrator exciting. Feedback on the TV listings spread found the text stood out and was eye-catching. The documentary focus group provided feedback that the interviews and visuals engaged them and the music suited the tone. Minor improvements were made based on feedback received.
Question 4 How did you use media technologies in the construction and researc...greenie101
The document discusses the media technologies used during the research, planning, and evaluation stages of creating a documentary. It describes using the internet (Google Chrome) to research topics and target audiences of interest to teenagers. A storyboard was created in Microsoft Word to plan the documentary structure and shots. Research included studying other documentaries on YouTube and DVD to understand conventions. A Canon camera, microphone, and tripod were used to film interviews and footage. Adobe Premiere Pro was used to edit the documentary, adding titles and adjusting audio levels. A radio trailer was created using GarageBand. InDesign was used to make a TV listings page, and various software like Word, PowerPoint, and YouTube were used to evaluate the projects
The document contains 10 questions for a focus group about a documentary film, asking about the intro, background footage, title, informativeness, best part, fitting music, realism, sound levels, text clarity/engagement, and whether they would watch the full documentary and if CDs are obsolete.
This radio questionnaire asks listeners for feedback on a documentary advertisement. It inquires whether the audio quality and narrator were good, if the advert provided enough information, who the target audience seemed to be, and how clear the topic was. Respondents are also asked to rate the documentary topic and whether they would watch it based on the advertisement alone. Overall feedback on improvements is requested.
The document discusses brand identity for a documentary by using three consistent colors - red, white, and black - throughout various media platforms. Red is used to engage audiences and motivate action, white suggests commitment and professionalism, and black conveys sophistication. For print media, a similar color scheme follows audience familiarity without challenging conventions. Radio advertisements use memorable quotes from interviews to relate to the documentary and question whether CDs are dead, acting as a slogan for the brand identity across all media.
The radio trailer uses familiar backing music and the word "exclusive" to engage the audience. It offers grab quotes throughout to keep the audience interested. Fast edited vox pops at the start show teens being careless with alcohol to target that age group. Rhetorical questions and supporting vox pops show the facts as shocking. It ends by stating the title and air time.
The introduction uses factual information about domestic violence that may be unfamiliar to the audience. An intense backing track creates a serious atmosphere while still engaging listeners. It then uses a grab quote from TV to further interest and a documentary topic. More facts are followed by an expert interview defining domestic violence. It concludes with air time and channel, using a door closing sound effect
This document summarizes the responses to a 15 question questionnaire about music streaming habits. Most respondents were 17 years old and listen to music most or some of the day. The majority access music through streaming services or pirating sites rather than buying CDs. Respondents prefer streaming to CDs and use free platforms like YouTube, but many also use third-party pirating sites. The most popular paid streaming services were Spotify and YouTube. While respondents felt streaming was convenient, opinions were mixed on whether it benefited artists.
The documentary uses an off-screen narrator and fast-paced editing to engage viewers on the topic of downloading music. It effectively syncs visuals and audio during expert interviews, though could improve sound quality in user interviews. Overall the documentary informs viewers about music downloading in an entertaining way, though ends abruptly without conclusion.
This document contains a questionnaire about music consumption habits. It asks questions about age, how music is accessed, how many CDs and digital songs were purchased in the past year, preferences for streaming vs CDs, frequency of listening, sources for music like purchased, free, or pirated, favorite streaming sites, and opinions on statements about CDs, streaming and artists. Respondents are asked to circle answers that apply and provide short lists of advantages and disadvantages of streaming.
This risk assessment document evaluates potential hazards students may face while filming or taking photos for a college media studies course. It identifies injuries from falling or carrying heavy equipment, and the risk of attack, as potential hazards. The document rates the risks as minor if control measures are followed, such as filming in groups, receiving proper training, evenly distributing equipment weight, ensuring safe filming locations, and leaving a contact number. Students are advised to follow these control measures to minimize risks.
This document discusses how a media product represents particular social groups. It targets those interested in alternative rock music such as Imagine Dragons and new soft rock bands. The front cover includes lines from alternative bands and simple clothing of models to appeal to this group without alienating them. The contents and double page spreads contain elements similar to other alternative rock magazines to further target this audience. Some black and white images help convey the darker nature of the genre and prepare readers for dark storylines.
Nathan Green surveyed 3 people about the front cover, contents page, and double-page spread of his alternative rock magazine. For the front cover, the respondents felt the dark color scheme fit the alternative genre but the image did not clearly indicate rock. The contents page was deemed clear to read. The double-page spread was appealing and likely to attract readers. While the layout and bands interested one respondent, another said they would pay up to £1.50 but no more since content would be available online for free later.
The document provides details about planning an article on the band Ambushed Reality, including biographical information on the two band members Lewis Corbett and Scott Boardman, who are from Birmingham, England. It discusses their musical influences, including Imagine Dragons, and their 2016 album "Digital Vision" which reached #4 on the charts within a week of its release despite taking 10 years to complete. The band got their start opening for Enter Shikari and collaborating with Imagine Dragons, helping them gain a large fan base. One of their songs references a friend who died from smoking too much.
This document discusses the target audience for a proposed alternative rock magazine. The target audience would be young adults aged 16-25 who are interested in alternative rock music. Specifically, the target audience would be middle-class working young adults as the magazine would be priced affordably at £2.20. Research also found that white males would be most likely to purchase the magazine due to an interest in the bands and content featured. The magazine aims to attract this target audience through design elements on the cover and content layout that follow conventions of alternative rock magazines.
The document summarizes the codes and conventions used in a magazine front cover, contents page, and double page spread. For the front cover, standard elements like the masthead, cover lines, and images are included to suit the alternative rock genre. The contents page layout is not challenged to keep it clear for readers. The double page spread challenges conventions with a unique layout not commonly seen in alternative rock magazines, to attract a young audience with new ideas. Elements like the masthead are also included to promote online posting of articles.

Students were taking photos at a college brick wall for a media studies task. There were some risks identified including the student banging their head on the wall, wires getting in the way, or students walking into the set area and tripping over bags. Control measures to address these risks included having an umbrella in case of rain, avoiding the wall, tidying wires, and moving bags away from high foot traffic areas.
Students were filming and taking photos in the college theatre. The risk assessment identified three hazards: the lighting could be too dark and cause falls; wires on the floor could cause trips; and damaged electronics could cause electrocution. The risks were all minor for students. Existing controls included turning lights back on when not needed off, tidying wires to prevent trips, and tidying wires to prevent electrocution. No further actions were required.
How to Manage Reception Report in Odoo 17Celine George
A business may deal with both sales and purchases occasionally. They buy things from vendors and then sell them to their customers. Such dealings can be confusing at times. Because multiple clients may inquire about the same product at the same time, after purchasing those products, customers must be assigned to them. Odoo has a tool called Reception Report that can be used to complete this assignment. By enabling this, a reception report comes automatically after confirming a receipt, from which we can assign products to orders.

THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.

Question 7
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in
the progression from it to the full product?
The front cover
Preliminary Front Cover Tonic magazine
Personally I feel that I’ve learnt a lot from doing the preliminary and I’ve defiantly improved
in terms of how a front cover should look. I’ve learnt in further detail the tools on
Photoshop, as I didn’t cut much from the preliminary front cover. I felt that by doing the
magazine again, I not only learnt how to make images and objects closer together but had
confidence to try it out and spend more time working on a better magazine. I learnt how to
push the two models together as they where too far apart and didn’t fit the size that I
wanted on the Tonic front cover.
I felt that I understood how to alter the image to suit the content of the magazine and I felt
pretty confidant doing that on the preliminary task. However I didn’t want to over edit the
image on my Tonic magazine as I feel that by keeping it quite simple would attract a wider
audiences and fit the genre well. In addition to that, I felt that I could alter images well as I
learnt so from the preliminary task so I decided to put three additional images on the front
cover of my magazine. I learnt how to lower the contrast of these images so they wouldn’t
stick out too much on the front cover and seem abstract from the genre itself.
The coversine’s I used in my preliminary front cover, didn’t really suit any kind of style and
where quite dark which didn’t help for audiences reading it. I picked up on this and actually
decided to change the style of how they would be placed, by having them around the whole
magazine and not actually having an empty space, made it seem more professional.
2. Nathan Green
Also I feel that the coverlines didn’t suit the colour scheme and actually broke
the trend that they should’ve had in the preliminary front cover. Furthermore
there wasn’t one certain shade of a colour that wasn’t consistent. What I learnt
from this was to stick to one colour and actually have clear coverlines that
people can read as well as them clearing up empty space upon the front cover.
In terms of the masthead, I feel that the preliminary masthead wasn’t big enough
for people to read from a distance and actually read clearly. This being said, I
changed this in my magazine and had the masthead the biggest text on their
purely to lure in my target audiences whilst making it clear and easy for them to
read it. That being said as I said previously I feel that the preliminary magazine
really lacked in clear colours purely due to the image being quite dark as well as
the text. So I made sure that despite the fact the image was black and white, I
would increase the contrast and brightness, which would bring out the shades
and colours in the image making it seem much brighter. Furthermore by doing
this made it easy to read the text and masthead on the front cover.
Finally I made sure that other smaller areas such as the barcode, issue number,
price, the puff and the strap-lines are much more crisp and easier to see/ read.
For the price, barcode and the issue number, I made them all on a separate bold
stand, which helped it, stand out and fit into one section at the bottom of the
magazine. The strap-line on the bottom was also on its on little bold section
which a clear white backdrop. I learnt that this is more appealing and easier for
passers by/ audiences to quickly read it.
Preliminary Contents Page Tonic Contents Page
3. Nathan Green
Overall I feel that I’ve learnt a lot in terms of what’s the best for the contents
page and how to make it laid out easy as well as it fitting the content for that
magazine. I feel that for both magazines I didn’t want to include a background as
the text would be harder to read as well as people losing focus on the content
involved in this page.
Firstly I feel in terms of laying out the contents page which makes it easy and
clear for readers, has improved dramatically as the preliminary contents page
was very scattered and unclear on what page is where. Furthermore I feel that by
actually putting three different columns onto my magazine, sections it out quite
well alas making it easy for the reader. I’ve learnt that by putting a darker
background on something like the page numbers, lifts out the numbers from the
page and catches the readers eye very quickly.
The images I used on the preliminary contents page really lacked in positioning
for luring people into reading on. It’s easy to say that I’ve learnt simple is better
for the contents page and by keeping the pictures sectioned out across a separate
column, makes it easy for the readers to visually see the articles before even
reading the grab quotes or the text underneath. That being said, by adding in
grab quotes make the audiences interest rates increase so therefore it has to be
easy and clear to read. That is something that the preliminary contents page
didn’t have so that was defiantly something I needed to improve for my actual
magazine. Furthermore I feel that I made it much easier for audiences to read the
grab quotes whilst luring them into the sheer article underneath.
Overall I’ve learnt from doing the preliminary tasks, how to use Photoshop in
further more professional ways whilst increasing my confidence along the way.
In addition to that I also feel that by working on my magazine with the
knowledge of what a magazine should and shouldn’t include whilst
experimenting for myself.
