1. WHAT HAVE YOU
LEARNT ABOUT
TECHNOLOGIES FROM
THE PROCESS OF
CONSTRUCTING THIS
PRODUCT?
During the entire process of planning and creating my
magazine, I used a variety of different technologies
including both hardware, and software. Throughout
using all the technologies, I have developed my skills
with them all, using them to their full potential in order
to improve my work.

3. Apple Mac
Throughout the entire process of my magazine, from the initial research right to the very
end I have been using a Mac. This has allowed me to access various different types of
software that have been crucial to the creation of my magazine. Although I had
previously used Mac’s, I have developed the way I have been using them efficiently to
get the most of them.
Digital Bridge Camera
Once I had planned for my magazine shoot, I had to go out and take the photographs. I
used a camera for this instead of a phone camera so that I could get good quality images.
When using the camera, I followed the rule of thirds to make sure the images would look
professional and a good quality. As I used the camera outside where the light was different
to inside, I had to format the camera with the appropriate setting in order to get clear images.
Phone
I used my phone a few times to quickly get down some information, by either making notes or
taking a photograph of something, including inspiration for my magazine, and theories. This
made it easy for me to quickly access the relevant information whenever I needed it. It also
helped me plan various aspects throughout the process with allowing me to communicate with
other people, including my model and those who were a part of my focus group.
USB Stick
The USB Stick was possibly one of the most important pieces of Hardware I used throughout
the whole process from research right up to design as it allowed me to safely transfer my files
- including images and documents – from the computers at college to my computer at home
allowing me to make adjustments and get my work checked through before finishing it.
5. Adobe Photoshop
Photoshop was the most important, and vital type of software I used during the
creation process of making my magazine. This is because it allowed me to edit the
images, add text and altogether put together all the aspects of my magazine and so
it looks professional. To make sure my magazine looked professional, I used the
various tools on offer to achieve this including magnetic lasso, clone stamp and
shape. I developed my skills with Photoshop to use the different tools and options on
offer in the correct way to make it easy to create my magazine. It also meant that
I did not have to use different types of software to create the magazine, as
Photoshop let me do everything I needed to.
Microsoft PowerPoint
I have used PowerPoint a number of times in order to present
information, including graphs from my research, to evaluations. I
have chose to use PowerPoint to present certain pieces of work as I
like how the layout allows you to divide up the information, making it
more visually appealing to present rather than a long
document, which looks harsher.
Microsoft Word
Using PowerPoint allowed me to type up longer documents easily, such as my
development diaries. I could also add some images to the documents as well. As I
could save and re open Word until the document was complete, I could add to it as
I went along, and I could edit it. Word also aided me with the creation process.
Instead of typing up my double page spread feature straight into Photoshop, I typed
it up on Word first as it allowed me to spell check and re read it clearly, before
adding it to the magazine.
6. Internet
The internet allowed me to access various websites including Google, and Wordpress. This
meant that I could do online research from different Publishing and magazine websites.
Something else it allowed me to do was to access my email account, which was useful as
I had to be able to sign onto my emails for if I emailed documents or if I signed up to a website -
such as Slideshare.
Prezi
Prezi is online software that gave me another way to present information in a more
fun, visual and interactive way. At first I did not know how to use Prezi efficiently, but
as I used it I developed my skills with it more, therefore improving the presentation.
It worked best with information where I had to link various pieces of information back
to an image as it allows you to move around the information and zoom in on different areas.
Slideshare
Slideshare was very useful in posting my documents online, including Powerpoint’s and
Word documents. I used this constantly throughout the entire process from start to finish
to make sure that my blog stayed up to date with the current work. If I didn’t use Slideshare,
I would not have been able to upload my work to my Wordpress blog.
Wordpress
Wordpress is my blog, where I posted all off my work including production logs documenting
how far I was in the process. The main reason I used the blog for was to present all of my
information and to keep it all organised and together, but it also allowed me to write direct
blog posts. I used the blog posts to add information such as research and planning.
