• TV channels are funded in different ways.
• TV channels all have a REMIT (ie what they have to do).
• All TV channels need audiences to watch their programmes
(no matter how they are funded and no matter what their
REMIT is).

• To try to get the audience watching SCHEDULERS have the job of arranging
the programmes that the channel can show in the best order.
• They use certain techniques to achieve this.
• TV Channels have an ethos – i.e. an identity. (Ethos = guiding beliefs or
ideals)
• The programmes that they show generally are chosen to fit in with this ethos.
• The ethos of a TV channel will heavily influence who the target audience is
for the channel.
