The group used various new media technologies throughout the research, planning, production and evaluation of their short film. They created a blog to share research and ideas. They used Final Cut Express for editing the film and adding filters/transitions. Different cameras were used for filming, photos and posters to achieve the best quality. Google Forms and spreadsheets gathered audience feedback. Final Cut Express and a Zoom recorder were used to create a radio trailer. Photoshop, with help from a graphics student, was used to design the poster and a prop. While technologies provided benefits, some issues arose like with the blog platform and camera batteries, but the group found ways to overcome problems.

Adobe premiere pro is an NLE (nonlinear editor) with the primary function of editing and enhancing video clips together in a series. This is the program that a lot of beginners open up to produce an easy video with multiple clips as well as songs. It's exceptionally scalable-- easy to use for novices, and also still powerful enough for a master editor.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
1. Evaluation Question 4
How did you use new media
technologies in the; research,
construction, planning and evaluation
stages.
2. • Throughout the course we used new
technologies all the time, technologies such as
the camera, for example which we used, if we
used it in our research, planning or
construction it has had an important role in
the making of out short film, The Gamble.
3. First
• We as a group set up a blog, to which we
could all post our research and planning to,
sharing ideas as a group, this was really
helpful as it kept all of our ideas in one
place that was easy to access, however we
did have a couple of problems when it did
come to publishing posts sometimes, but
overall it did work really well and effectively.
After a wh8ile of using blogger we decided
to adapt the template of the blog in order
to make it easier for us as a group to access
and understand.
This is our blog that we set up for the group.
4. Editing our film
• In order to edit our film we used final
cut express, a professional quality
editing software, that our tutor, Simon,
taught us to use, its efficient and helped
us to make sure that our film had good
continuity throughout. It also allowed us
to put filter over certain shots and give
the film certain transitions, whether it
be on the typography or the transitions
between shots, we could achieve what
we wanted to using this software.
5. The cameras that we used
• During the making and production of
our film we used several different
cameras to serve different purposes.
• To shoot the film we used a Sony HD
1000 camera as this would give us the
best quality film, making our film the
best quality possible.
• To do the photo storyboard and the
poster, we used a range of compact
digital cameras and DSLR cameras,
again to give us the best results that
we could achieve with the technology
available to us.
6. Audience Research/Audience
Feedback
• To get our audience research/audience feedback we created
numerous questionnaires on google forms, we posted these
questionnaires on various social media websites, such as Facebook
and Twitter. This helped us because it gave us as a group things we
could change about our film in order to make it better. We gained
our feedback from live spreadsheets that we also set up, telling us
what the audience wanted us to change and improve in our film.
7. Our Radio Trailer
Radio Trailer
• We made our radio trailer on Final Cut
Express again as we as a group fount this
software very use full for any kind of
editing needs. We found this much
easier than we did editing the film for a
number of reasons, for example we were
only editing sound not video footage and
the fact that we had had more time to
practise whilst editing the film.
Zoom H4 Recorder
• To record the sound for our radio trailer
we used a Zoom H4 sound recorder, this
was easy to use and very efficient as all
we had to do was plug it in via a USB
cable and the sound was off the device
ready to edit on Final Cut express.
8. How We Used Photoshop
• In order to create our film
poster and the leaflet prop
that is used in the film, we
used Photoshop, our tutors
again, Simon and Claire,
gave a demonstration on the
basics of this fairly
complicated software.
Luckily we had a graphics
student, Rebecca, in our
group who is familiar with
the software, this made the
process quicker and easier.
9. • Overall the film would have been difficult to
produce without the use of mew media
technologies, having said this like I mentioned
earlier we did encounter some problems with
the technologies, another example being
battery life on the cameras, which could
sometimes delay filming, but we overcome
these problems.
