Throughout the project, the author used various media technologies. Blogger was used in the planning stage to chronologically organize research. A Sony video camera was used to film footage for the music video, requiring the learning of new skills like keeping the camera steady. Photoshop was the main editing program, where the author learned techniques like resizing images and using tools like the gradient and smudge tools by watching tutorials. For the evaluation, Prezi and iMovie were used to creatively present the work in a video format rather than just a written report.

1. How did you use media technologies in the construction
and research, planning and evaluation stages?
When I begun the planning and researching stage of the
project I used blogger to show all the information I had
found. This was useful as blogger is live and you can use it
at anytime. The information that you write on there is
always editable and the easiest way to layout information
as it is in chronological order.

2. When I was filming the footage for my music video I was using a
video camera. This camera is a Sony handycam DCR-HC62.
Although the camera was quite old the quality when I was filming
was still to a high standard so it was acceptable to use it. I had
never recorded a whole video on a camera before so when I was
filming I was learning how to do new things that I would have
never have done. One of the most challenging stages throughout
the filming was keeping the camera still and not shaking. In order
to make sure that the footage was clear and watchable I had to
use a tripod. I had never used a tripod either so that again was a
new experience.

3. Throughout the construction stage of the project Photoshop was
the main editing programme that I used. As we had to use
Photoshop through As I knew the basic tools and how to edit
pictures but there was several things that I didn’t know how to do.
One of the editing techniques that I was unsure how to do was
converting the images I had into the correct size without making
them blurry. To develop my understanding of this tool I had to
watch tutorials on YouTube and attempt to edit them. Two layers
had to be created on top of each other and then merged
together using the smudge tool. By watching the tutorials it made
me aware of how to edit the images and in the future I will know
how to do this.
Another editing technique that I was unsure how to do was using
the gradient tool which I have previously mentioned. So again I
watched tutorials on YouTube and began to understand how to
use it so in the final front cover for the digi-pak. I used the gradient
tool in the bottom left corner to make it fade out and seem like
the sun shinning, which was appropriate as my video is about the
main artist going on holiday.

4. When writing the evaluation I tried to use creative ways in how I
could present my work rather than just writing it. I decided to use
Prezi as one of the ways to present my work, which allows you to
write in it and upload pictures. Its like a mini movie as once you
have pressed play the slides move automatically.
Another way that I decided to present my work was by creating a
video on iMovie that I then uploaded to YouTube and onto the
blog. By presenting my work in this way it shows that my skills have
developed and I know how to present my work in a creative way
rather than just writing it out.
