This document discusses how the magazine front cover, content page, and double page spread used or challenged conventions of real music magazines. The front cover followed conventions like the masthead, barcode, and price but had fewer cover lines. The content page included images and color but in a more scattered layout. The double page spread featured the title, artist photos, and house colors but in a more colorful style with a photo background, breaking from typical white backgrounds. Overall, the designs drew from real magazine conventions while also experimenting with conventions to suit the genre.
Northeast India comprises of the neighbouring seven states including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura along with the eight state Sikkim. The Northeast India accounts for around 7.7% of country’s total geographical area and have a population of 40 million. Each of the eight states belonging to this region is a reservoir of different natural and cultural attractions for the tourists. Their languages, religions, customs, traditions, history, folklore, festivals and handicrafts differ as much as their people. Positioned in the eastern most part of India, Northeast India is one of the most attractive hilly and mountainous regions of the world situated in the Indian subcontinent and spreading over an area of 2,62,230 sq. km (101,250 sq. mi). It is also one of the most treasured eco-friendly sites in the entire globe.

Question 4
1. Question 3
In what ways does your product use,
develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
2. Typical conventions of a front page
Short, memorable magazine title
Large, dominant icon, making clear the
title of the magazine
Subjects face can be easily and clearly
seen, with eye contact.
Large, dominant, full page image of
one of the main articles in the
magazine
Bright colour scheme, with colourful
clothing
Thubnails of other important articles
Language techniques used to anchor
articles
Price
Teasing contents.
3. My front cover
- Short, memorable magazine
title
-Large, dominant icon, very
clear.
- Subjects face can be easily
seen with eye contact.
- Bright colour scheme, with
colourful clothing.
- Thumbnails of other
important articles
- Large, dominant full page
image, of one of the main
articles in the magazine.
- Teasing Contents
- price
4. My front cover.
My front page followed the typical
conventions of having the masthead at the
top, this is vital due to how magazine racks
work, without it being at the top customers
would not be able to see the name. It also
followed the convention of having the
barcode at the front of the magazine and
the price, this is helpful to customers.
I have kept the cover lines simple so more
attention can be given to the background,
normally in magazines there are more
cover lines on the front page.
5. Typical content page.
• Page title at the top of the
page
• Features section
• Images from various articles
• Continuous colour scheme
throughout
• Images of artists
• Page numbers
• Large clear font
• Various language techniques
6. My content page
- Banner at the top
- Features section
- Images of artists in different
locations
- -page numbers giving
reference to locations of
articles, with the name of
the articles
- large, clear font
- Continuous colours
throughout
- Scattered photos, less
structured page.
7. My content page
My content page is relatively simple
compared to other contents pages, I
have done this as it suits the genre. I
have however followed the
conventions of having a range of
photos of artists as this makes the
page more appealing and interesting. I
have also kept the banner at the top
which is a typical convention of
magazine contents pages. My content
page contains a lot of images and
colour this isnt a normal convention of
content page, as you can see from
Billboards content page it is mostly
white. I did this as it fits the genre of
music better.
8. Double page spread typical
conventions.
• Page title at the top of the
page.
• Picture of the artist
• Large title
• Eye contact
• Continuous use of house
colours
9. My Two Page spread.
- Title at top
- Pictures of the artists
- Eye contact
- Repetitive use of
house colours
- More colourful page
then the Billboard
magazine. (use of
photo background)
as this is better suited
for my target
audience.
10. The two page spread.
My two page spread is very busy
with the use of the picture
background this isn't found in the
Billboard magazines two page
spread and there magazine pages
appear to be kept to a limited
amount of colour, with white as the
background. Whereas my magazine
is full of images with the use of
polaroid's scattered across the page
rather than having one main image,
this is breaking a typical convention
of music magazines. I have however
kept the title at the top and added a
page number which helps the flow
of the magazine and is a typical
convention of music magazines.
