My media product uses several conventions common to mainstream rap music videos, such as a performance scene shot in a music studio to portray the artist's progression towards success. It also uses a variety of camera shots, like follow shots and high/low angles, synchronized to the music. However, it challenges expectations for the rap/grime genre by portraying a less aggressive side. The album cover was inspired by a mainstream artist's cover but puts the artist in color on a grayscale background.
The document discusses the process of creating a music video for a rock band. It began by researching common conventions of music videos within the genre. They decided on a performance-style video to match the genre. They aimed to break conventions through creative camera angles, editing, and costumes. While difficult to be completely original, they strived to professionally produce a video that promoted the band's image and fit within genre expectations.
Yinka and Aishah propose adapting the music video for "Truth Hurts" by Lizzo. They rejected ideas using videos for songs by Avril Lavigne, Rihanna, and Beyoncé. They chose "Truth Hurts" because Yinka is familiar with R&B conventions and Aisha's Asian heritage would help explore Asian themes in the original video. They also felt it followed and challenged conventions of its time through the use of different cultural elements.
The document discusses how the media product follows conventions of real music videos. It summarizes that the titles displayed the artist name and song title over the song intro, following conventions seen in other EDM videos. It also notes the setting of beach scenes follows conventions seen in videos like Calvin Harris's "I Need Your Love". The video includes both performance and narrative scenes, combining conventions seen in music videos generally. Finally, the editing style matches the beat of the track with quick shot changes, developing conventions of fast-paced editing seen in other EDM music videos.
This document provides an analysis of the music video for the song "Still Here" by the band Viva Brothers. It analyzes various technical and stylistic elements of the video, including how it fits common music video genre conventions through its depiction of the band recording in a studio. The analysis also discusses editing techniques like split screens, jump cuts, and color grading used to transition between locations. Camera shots including close-ups of the band and symmetrical mid-shots are used to keep them as the central focus. Costuming, lighting, and props are also analyzed in the context of their relationship to mood, tone, and the band's image.
Music videos are short films that accompany songs or music recordings. They originated in the 1980s as a marketing tool to promote music sales. Music videos can be categorized based on their style, such as performance, narrative, or image-focused videos. Different genres of music tend to have different conventions for music videos, for example hip hop videos often feature cars, houses, women, and alcohol. Effective music videos employ various camera techniques, editing styles, lighting, costumes, colors, locations, and props to match the mood and genre of the song.
The document discusses several music video ideas that were considered and rejected for a class project. Avril Lavigne's "I'm with You" was rejected because it had a slow, monotone beat and the creators felt more could be done with an upbeat track. Rihanna's "Umbrellas" was also rejected because matching the iconic status and special effects of the original would be too difficult. Beyoncé's "Check Up on It" was rejected because it was solely performative and did not allow for adapting different genres. The creators ultimately chose Lizzo's "Truth Hurts" because they both had relevant knowledge and experience with R&B music and Asian culture that could be explored in analyzing and replic

The document analyzes a media product created by the author in the genres of rap/hip hop music videos. It discusses how the author researched conventions of existing successful music videos within these genres to understand elements like camera angles, editing, mise-en-scene and narrative. Costume, lighting, and location choices were made to adhere to genre conventions while also challenging conventions in some ways, such as choosing to film during the day rather than at night. For the accompanying digipack, the author stuck to conventions of established rap/hip hop artists but portrayed the subject in a more serious, upscale manner to appeal to a wider audience.
The music video will feature both conceptual footage and performance shots of the local metal band Quad Damage. The conceptual shots will recreate a scene from the 1988 film "They Live" to comment on consumerism in society, showing people dressed as zombies with slogans like "obey" and "this costs a lot of money" printed on their shirts. The video will also include influence performance shots similar to videos by Pantera. Filming is scheduled over several days in January at various streets in Harrow and at the houses of band members to capture both types of footage.
Directors use a variety of techniques to make music videos appealing to audiences. These include different camera shots like wide shots and close-ups to focus on the artist, varied camera angles like eye-level and low angles to portray the artist as powerful, and camera movements like panning and tracking to follow the action. Effective editing, lighting, costumes, and props that relate to the song help immerse viewers in the artist's world. Together, these conventions attract audiences and enhance the impact of music videos.

What are the 5 conventions of a music video? – Applied specifically to the in...ellieaddison1902
The document discusses the 5 conventions of music videos applied to indie music videos: mise-en-scene, camera work, sound, editing, and symbolism. It analyzes examples from music videos like "I Need Your Love" by Ellie Goulding and Calvin Harris and "Way in the World" by Nina Nesbitt. It relates aspects of these music videos that the document's authors aim to incorporate into their own music video for an indie artist, such as natural settings, casual costumes, close-up camera shots, use of instruments, match cuts, and broad symbolic themes.
This document evaluates a media project analyzing the music video for Radiohead's "2+2=5". It discusses how the video uses conventions of the alternative rock music genre like slow motion, black and white footage, and nonlinear narrative. Audience feedback was positive about the camera work, editing, and technical aspects, but some felt parts were out of sync and the story didn't make sense. Going forward, the creators could focus on syncing footage better, experimenting with effects, and considering incorporating a clearer narrative.
Music videos are short visual stories used to promote artists. They typically give the artist the most screen time as they sing to the audience, helping viewers become familiar with them. Music videos may have simple narratives or hardly any narrative at all. They are edited to sync with the song's beat, using many cuts in fast songs. Jump cuts are also used to speed up the video. Camera angles and shots are chosen deliberately to convey meanings that relate to the artist and song. Close-ups of the artist's face help develop their fan base by associating the face with the lyrics. Product placement in videos can further an artist's image and financial support.
This document discusses how a media product challenges and develops conventions from real music videos. It analyzes house music videos from artists like Avicii, Calvin Harris, and Tiesto. It discusses taking elements from their album covers and videos, such as using the artist's logo prominently. It also discusses using vehicles like motorbikes to develop the fast tempo, and only featuring a small cast like Calvin Harris' video. The product aims to promote the DJ and logo throughout while adapting star theory to feature the DJ as the main protagonist.
The document discusses DIY filmmaking and remix culture. It examines Star Wars Uncut, a crowdsourced fan remake of Star Wars composed of 15-second clips edited together. Star Wars Uncut exemplifies remix practices through its manipulation of a well-known text, intimate audience knowledge required, and variety of creative compositional styles used by many fan authors. Close readings are needed by both audiences and authors for maximum effect. Fan remakes engage audiences in participatory cinephilia and allow language to evolve through dialogic interanimation of voices.
The document discusses potential song choices and ideas for music videos for three songs:
1) "Rihanna Consideration" - Ideas include shooting the entire video in one location using colored lights, with quick cuts and effects focusing on a main performer lip syncing and dancing.
2) "Burn It Down" by Daughter - The song's tempo changes would allow for transitions, and the clear vocals would make lip syncing easier. Ideas involve playing with color grading and using strange locations.
3) "Nostalgia" by NAO - Ideas involve one main artist and two backup dancers, incorporating art, color, and creative concepts through dance, settings, outfits to create a "weird
There are three main types of music videos: illustrative videos that tell a story through performance, amplification videos where the director interprets the song creatively, and conceptual videos that may not relate to the lyrics. Common conventions include quick camera shots between close-ups and long shots, fast editing to match the beat, expressive lighting effects, and mise-en-scene themes relating to historical periods, concert halls, or exaggerated star images through luxury settings.
The music video will feature both conceptual footage and performance shots of the local heavy metal band Quad Damage. For the conceptual shots, the video will recreate a scene from the 1988 film "They Live" where people are dressed as mindless consumers to illustrate today's capitalist society. The video will also include influence performance shots similar to videos by Pantera. Scenes will be filmed over multiple days in November at various streets in Harrow and at band members' houses to capture both the conceptual ideas and band performance.
Narrative music videos tell a story through a sequence of events that run parallel to the song. They create an emotional bond between artist and viewer by presenting the artist's ideas in an engaging way that increases recall value. Performance music videos give audiences an authentic view of the artist by filming a live performance. Conceptual music videos are abstract and convey emotion/meaning through the music using creative freedom rather than relating directly to lyrics. Production of narrative videos requires developing a concept/script, scheduling shoots, location scouting, principal/supporting footage, and editing.

Caregivers play an important role in caring for those in need. However, increasing caregiver compensation could make care unaffordable for some. To address this, the roles of caregivers should be expanded to create better value through activities like keeping records organized, obtaining accreditation, monitoring patient progress, and communicating with families. This increased value would help justify higher pay and reduce healthcare crises, without making care unaffordable.

React is a revolution in web UI technology that uses a virtual DOM for fast rendering. It allows developers to build user interfaces as components in a declarative way using JavaScript or JSX. Components are fast, stateless, and their UI is a projection of data. The virtual DOM diffing algorithm efficiently detects changes and updates the real DOM. React promotes building user interfaces with unidirectional data flow and separating concerns into components rather than MVC.

This document discusses media forms and conventions used in music videos. It provides examples of several techniques used in the student's own music video project as well as examples from other artists' music videos. Andrew Goodwin's theory states that music videos use genre conventions through style and imagery to set expectations. For example, Migos' "Versace" video features money, women, and jewelry common in rap videos. Videos also visually represent the beat and tempo of songs through editing and footage. They must also represent the artist's brand and style. Narrative and performance videos can tell stories that keep audiences engaged without losing interest. The relationship between a video's visuals and its song's meaning can illustrate, amplify, or have no relation to the lyrics. Videos primarily promote the artist by giving them screen time as the "star." Technical elements like camera work, lighting, and editing create meaning. There may also be intertext

Question 1
1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions
of real media products?
Genre conventions:
• The genre conventions we have used
include a narrative structure, young
actors and a relatable story to our
target audience.
• We have also used actors who have
good chemistry and have made the
narrative flow with a beginning,
middle and end overall allowing the
story to have a suitable resolution.
• We have used an idea taken from
more modern music videos in that we
have actors telling the story of the
song and not the artist themselves.
• We’ve taken inspiration from artists
such as Passing Through A Screen
Door by The Wonder Years and Justin
Bieber Love Yourself.
2. Conformed forms and conventions:
• In the filming stages we have met
the conventions of a music video
in the sense that we wanted to
find locations that look
professional onscreen but also
are identifiable to our target
audience.
• This meant we did filming at city
centres and local parks.
• Therefore, in the final product it
shows that the story is being told
in the real world which contrasts
some concept videos that have
locations in space or an alternate
universe for example. E.g. Ariana
Grande’s Break Free.
• We have also used a common
convention used in contemporary
videos which is that the story is
told in the form of a flashback.
3. Conformed conventions in editing:
• In the editing stage we have also
conformed to conventions used in
real music videos such as match
on action, over the shoulder shots
and other various camera
movements.
• We have also synced up the
movements on screen with the
beats of the music at different
stages.
• We have mostly used straight cuts
and jump cuts to show passage of
time to link with the flashback
and nostalgic theme of the music
video.
• We have also however used fade
transition in order to show
passage of time and in popular
music videos such as Taylor Swift’s
‘Mine’.
