Alcohol consumption is prohibited in Islam for several reasons: 1) It causes tremendous societal harms like increased crime rates, broken homes, and mental illness based on statistics. 2) Both the Quran and Hadith explicitly prohibit alcohol consumption. The Quran calls it "Satan's handiwork" and the Hadith state it is "the mother of all evils." 3) Alcohol inhibits the brain's inhibitory center, removing self-control and often leading people to do things they would not normally do, like abusive behavior. Consumption has dire individual and societal consequences like increased rates of rape, incest, and disease transmission. Islam aims to preserve human's natural state, so
