2. Title, Main Image & Images
The title of my double page spread is situated at the top of the page
and reads, “SoundWave’s Interview With The Dynamic Duo.” I have
used the typical convention of a magazine by using a title that is a
short summery of what the story is about, an interview with a duo. I
also used the same font as the masthead on the font cover, but I’ve
styled it differently by adding a stoke and bevel which helps it to
stand-out. Along with this I used the image of the SoundWave on the
font cover as a logo for my magazine. I developed the convention of
a logo by including it on all three pages as a flowing logo, this will be
a constant remind to the reader of what magazine they’re reading.
I’ve challenged the conventions of the main image by having it
as the background as apposed to an image that covers half
the double page. In addition, I’ve followed the convention of a
direct address pose by having the models front on, staring
directly into the camera. There’s an image on both side of the
page rather than just one, this will attract and maintain the
attention of the reader.
Furthermore, I’ve followed the convention by adding smaller
pictures of the models on the double page, I tried to balance
the text and pictures by not adding too much of either.

3. Page number, Quote & Design
I’ve followed the common convention of a magazine by adding page numbers on both
pages of the double page spread, this is so that the reader knows that page they’re on.
I created a blue rectangular box behind both the numbers to highlight them. This is also
the same deign used on the contents page.
A pull-out quote is a mutual convention of a magazine double page spread, it is used to
catch the attention of the reader, entice them and make them want to read on to find out
more information. For these reasons I included a pull-out quote on my double page
spread, “Last year completely changed our lives” –Edvarda. I used the convention of
contrasting colours for the quote and the artist’s name, the quote is written in a sans serif
font but to help it to stand-out I chose to put it in bright red. The artist’s name is written in
a serif font, is in the colour white and is situated just below the quote, the colour helps the
quote to stand out more and appear more visible.
I have structured the main article into three columns, which is typical for most magazines.
This keeps the text neat and make it clear for the audience to read. The text is written in
an interview format with name clearly stated and the contrasting colours of red and white
to show the interviewer and the interviewee, this helps the audience to identify who is
saying what.
Furthermore, if the audience knows that what is being said came straight from the artist, it’ll make them feel involved, as if the
interview is between them and the artist. This make’s them fell as if they’ve taken time to get to know the artist personal.
