Heaton Elementary School in Colorado received a $107,480 grant to install renewable energy projects including a 7.5 kW wind turbine and 6.3 kW solar photovoltaic array. The projects are intended to both reduce the school's environmental impact and integrate green technologies into its operations and curriculum. The solar array is expected to offset 146,000 pounds of carbon dioxide, 1,245 pounds of nitrogen oxides, and 125 pounds of sulfur dioxides annually.
