The document presents a multi-biometric iris recognition system based on a deep learning approach. Specifically, it proposes an efficient multimodal biometric system that fuses the results from both the right and left iris of an individual using a ranking-level fusion method. It also proposes a deep learning system called IrisConvNet, which uses a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Softmax classifier to extract discriminative features from iris images and classify them without requiring domain knowledge. The performance of the proposed system is tested on three public iris databases and is shown to outperform other state-of-the-art approaches with a recognition rate of 100% and recognition time of less than one second per person.
