The Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) provides assistance to small businesses seeking to sell goods and services to federal, state, and local government entities through seminars, counseling, and informational resources. It was established by Congress in 1985 and is funded by the Department of Defense. PTAC helps businesses with tasks like registrations, certifications, identifying contracting opportunities, and understanding solicitation requirements. There are multiple PTAC offices across North Carolina located in cities like Asheville, Charlotte, Raleigh, Wilmington, and Greenville to serve small businesses statewide.

Assistance Center (PTAC)
• National program established in 1985:
– Authorized by Congress
– Funded by the Department of Defense and administered through the
Defense Logistics Agency (DLA)
– Provides matching funds through cooperative agreements with state
and local governments and non-profit organizations
• PTAC Program:
– Provides a wide range of services including classes and seminars,
individual counseling, and easy access to information necessary to
successfully compete for government contracts
