This study aimed to produce powder dye from coconut lumber sawdust. Two extraction methods were tested: boiling sawdust in water for one hour or two hours. Method 1 produced a darker dye with greater staining on cotton but also more bleeding when washed. Method 2 dye performed similarly on silk with little bleeding. The dye had greater affinity for silk than cotton. Copper sulfate was a better mordant than alum. The one-hour extraction method was more practical due to shorter time. Further studies could improve extraction methods and test additional mordants.
