2. Title of Magazine
The title of my magazine is RAGA.
I chose to use the title ‘RAGA’ as I believed that it was a
very unique name and would make the audience think
about what the term meant. A raga is an Indian scale in
music and as my music magazine is based on Indian
Classical Music, I thought to name it after a scale. This is
the reason for my title choice. I also know that no other
classical music magazine has this name, so this makes it
stand out from all the other classical music magazines and
the word raga sounds mysterious and this is more likely to
grab the attention of someone who skims past it but also
suggests that the magazine is mysterious and could be
something that you don’t expect.

3. Choice of Genre
The Genre of my music magazine is Classical
Music.
From a questionnaire I did earlier during the research
of my music magazine the least known and liked
genre was Classical Music. I thought that the reason
why it was the least popular is because there isn’t
enough information out there based on this type of
music genre. This musical genre is relatable to
anyone in anyway and is the genre of music that
produces the most relaxing music out there. So I have
chosen to do classical music to make audiences more
aware of this type of genre and so it can be more
recognised and known to a wider range of audiences.

4. Target Audience
The Target Audience for my music magazine is from
age 20-50.
I chose this age group as from research done people
aged 16+ are more likely to buy magazines so aged
16+ are more likely to be the customers of my
magazine but it is less likely that 16yr old will listen to
classical music so I increased the age from 16 to 20.
Any age group can listen to classical music but the
most common age is from 20-50 .

5. Content of whole magazine







The content I will include in my magazine will be an article about an
Indian Classical Music artist, how did they rise to fame and there
opinions on classical music and how it makes it unique from other
genres of music.
I will use a big image along side the article that will be inside my
magazine. The image will be eye catching and will take up one page
of the A4.
The contents page will state all the information that will be in the
magazine and what page numbers they are on and where you can
find them in the magazine.
There will be a lot of images in the magazine at different sizes for
different things.
There will be a few more articles and interviews of other classical
music artists with images by them.
There will subheadings and headings for the variety of different
topics in the magazine
The front cover will include everything that will be in the magazine
and what it will be about.

6. Initial Ideas for Front Cover





On the front cover I am going to have an image of an artist or
artists playing an Indian Classical Music instrument for e.g.
the dhol. I am going to frame this in a medium shot. For every
issue there will be a different artist on the front that will or will
not have an Indian Classical music instrument with them.
I will then have subheadings around the main image which
will give an overall view of the topics that are included in this
magazine
I will have the barcode and date of the magazine issue
release near the bottom on the front cover.
There will be a mast head along the top of the magazine and
a footer along the bottom of the magazine front cover with
additional information on the magazine.
I will have 3-4 different font styles on the front cover which will
be: Monotype Corsiva , Gungsuh, Franklin Gothic Medium and
Lucida Calligraphy.





The contents page of my music magazine will have
a few images on it of Indian Classical music artists
or Classical Indian instruments such as the tabla.
I will also have subheadings that divide the
magazine up into different sections so it makes it
easier for a consumer to find what they want to
read in the magazine
There will be page numbers next to a list of what
will be on each page so the consumers know what
page they have to go onto to find what they want to
read and this will reduce wasting time
There will also be a subscription box for anyone
who wants to find out more information about this
magazine.

8. Initial Ideas for DPS
The double page spread of my magazine will have
a huge A4 image of an artist on the left hand side
which will be partly going onto the right hand side
of the double page spread.
 There will be an article on the right hand side of the
double page spread about the image.
 The article on the right hand side will start off with a
drop caps to make the article stand out more and
look more attractive.

