How did i get my work out there?

Proposal
- 1. Working Title: Rising Audience: My magazine is focused on the fashion of the decades. My audience for my fashion magazine is targeted at women aged 16-30. I chose this audience because stereotypically women read fashion magazines whereas men tend to not read fashion magazines. The psychographic for my audience will mainly be focused on belongers. This is because a belonger is most likely to be living in a small city and will respond or messages which are family/community orientated. My front cover will include a few friends which will appeal to this psychographic. Also, this type of audience prefers their product to be made in the UK, because of being a fashion magazine it is very likely that the products being featured are made in the UK with the highest standard. The social status of my audience will be very varied, as my targeted age has a large gap, the 16-23 year olds would be C1C2 whereas the older people in the audience would be AB as they would be looking for some inspiration to what to wear. Rationale (approx. 100 words) Throughout the year, I have learnt many skills which can improve my project. Over the past months, I have done three rotations, through these rotations I have learnt how to target my audience and how to connect my audience to the product. Previously, I had never used Photoshop until I came to college. This project requires a lot of skills from Photoshop and also using a new software which I have soon to learn. On the first rotation, I created a few adverts advertising for the Scottish fizzy drink Irn Bru, this experience which help me develop my magazine front cover, double page spread and website. The experience which I have from these few months at college will be very beneficial when I start to create my magazine. Project Concept (approx. 200 words) My concept for my project will consist of a magazine front cover, a double page spread and a website. My idea for this magazine will be focused on the fashion of the decades. To complete this idea, I will need to research the type of clothes and jewellery women wore in the specific years. The research which I will conduct will help make my project become more professional and could make the reader feel very nostalgic as they might have worn clothes like this. I want my front cover to pop out for the reader and make it look very bright so it catches anyone’s attention. I want to include fashion from the 80’s/90’s/2000’s in my magazine as I think that would appeal to my audience more than researching the fashion in the 40’s and 50’s. However, if I have spare time in my production week I would like to include a feature on 60’s and 70’s in my magazine. Most of my family members grew up in the decades which I want to feature, I could conduct more research and find out what their fashion was like. Production Techniques (approx. 150 words) I will need to include some specialist techniques to make my magazine professional and aesthetic will be to use a green screen when taking my photographs. When using a green screen, I have to double-check that my lights and camera aren’t reflected anywhere in my shot. Another thing to check when using the green screen is whether the model has any flyway’s avoiding this will prevent a painful keying process in post-production. Having a small bottle of hairspray on hand can save the day if your subject’s flyways just won’t quit. With the lighting in the studio depending on how many lights there are, if there is only one light I would use it as my key light. I would place the light directly behind the camera or slightly off to one side. However, when using this the green screen I will need to do a lot of research on how to use it as I don’t get any training but I might get a demo on how to use the lighting in the studio. Evaluation (approx. 50 words) Throughout this rotation, I will be evaluating my work every week. This will be through my development diary which I will complete every week evaluating my work and what I could do to improve. When it comes to my final self- reflection, I will use the experience which I have from my last rotation and use my peers to write feedback on how I could improve and the strengths of my work. This turned out to be very helpful and helped me write my final evaluation.
