For example, when introducing the book The Little Refugee, she showed a comedy video by the author, read the book, and researched Vietnamese food to provide context, engaging students and encouraging enthusiasm for similar texts.

modelling inquiry learning by asking questions about the story or
author. She will then draw on students’ curiosity and as a whole
group they actively research on the interactive white board to find
out more information (Hughes, 2013, p.12).
For example The Teacher-Librarian introduced the book The little
refugee with a short comedy video by the author Anh Do, she then
read the book and researched further to find out more about the
types of traditional food Vietnamese people eat. By putting the
book into context her students were more engaged and responded
enthusiastically when the Teacher-Librarian recommended a
similar text.
