This document outlines a course module on teaching writing skills in the primary ESL classroom. It includes 8 topics that will be covered: the nature and purpose of writing, developmental stages of writing, approaches to teaching writing, techniques for teaching writing skills, selection and adaptation of materials, assessing writing skills, planning for writing instruction, and remedial/enrichment activities. The course aims to help students understand writing development, approaches to instruction, lesson planning, and evaluating writing. It will involve 45 contact hours including microteaching sessions. Assessment includes coursework and an examination.
