Summary:
 Provides support to Regional Office Land Status Personnel in conversion of existing land status records
of the seventeen National Forests in the Intermountain Region to the Automated Lands Project
(Geographic information system). The Automated Lands project integrates an Oracle database with Arc
info coverage’s. The Oracle database includes data on land ownership use restrictions, boundaries, etc.
Checks Oracle database links to the Arc info coverage’s for each National Forest using ArcView and
Oracle, reviews legal descriptions and plat maps to determine that Oracle data has linked correctly to
spatial coverage. Reviews legal descriptions and plats maps to determine that oracle data has linked
correctly to spatial coverage. Ensure data in the Land Status Record System is correct as to the rights
and extent of land title to ensure the National Forest system Lands can be properly managed and
protected. Trains and assists other users on common GIS data processing procedures within LSRS and
ALP. Develops and coordinates information to build manual, digital maps, and graphics in final form or

for inclusion in a digital cartographic database. Extensive knowledge of standardized data and
information processing rules, operations, and procedures to resolve common or recurring problems or to

processing status, deadline for input submissions, tape or disk availability or condition and similar kinds

Major Duties:

 Investigating potential uses of spatial data and participating in implementation procedures and
techniques to improve or enhance the data; measuring progress toward production goal achievement and
preparing production mapping status/production reports data as well as the content and format of
mapping center products.
 Directing the team in the refinement of existing mapping center products; and studying theoretical
literature of cartography, geography, and related sciences to keep abreast on the cutting edge of
technology.
 Professional knowledge of cartographic or geographic principles, theories, concepts and techniques in
order to apply standard practices and techniques in solving minor analog and digital cartographic
problems.
 Significant experience with mapping production cycles in order to identify minor deficiencies in normal
production operations and to recommend minor corrective action. Proficient skill to evaluate the current
status and trends of cartographic programs sufficient to monitor project goals.

data in image processing, desktop mapping, and/or geographic information systems to analyze and

Summary:  Provides support to Regional Office Land Status Personnel in conversion of existing land status records of the 17 National Forests in the Intermountain Region to the Automated Lands Project (a Geographic information system). Performs different although related tasks, using specified procedures and methods. Independently performs non-recurring work assignments, deviating from normal schedules, or new procedures. Performs computer support operations according to established procedures and methods. Retrieves standardized reports and makes changes in various software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and the Land Status Record System/Automated Lands Program. Kept up data, records, and reports for LSRS and ALP. Major Duties:

Studying theoretical literature of cartography, geography and related sciences to learn the plans, program and proposed positive outcome.  Perform written and oral communication ensuring accuracy, factual information and documentation. Clear and concise not requiring extensive interpretation when dealing with all customers and management. Typical coordination with bureau employees within and outside the immediate organization is held to a professional standard to maintain a courteous and productive workplace.  Execute analytical ability, judgment, discretion, and knowledge of a substantial body of administrative or program principles, concepts, policies, and objectives. Strong knowledge of the principles, concepts, policies, and objectives applicable to a program or administrative area. Demonstrate substantial, responsible experience the equivalent of a college level education.
