1) Hot metal printing required individually casting each letter, meaning it took much longer to produce a magazine compared to desktop publishing where layout can be done digitally in minutes.
2) Desktop publishing requires fewer employees overall since many jobs involved in magazine production can now be done by a single person using publishing software.
3) For her own magazine project, the author took on multiple roles like photographer, journalist, and designer, demonstrating how desktop publishing empowers small teams to produce magazines.

Our documentary follows many of the standard conventions of documentary films. We framed interviews on the left or right third of the shot with the interviewee facing the interviewer. We included captions identifying interviewees and their relevance. We also used cutaways and archive footage to smoothy transition between edited interview answers, and included relevant clips during interviews to keep viewers engaged. Our documentary's background visuals and poster also matched the topic being discussed to adhere to conventional documentary production standards.
Audience feedback – moving foreword

Desktop publishing is much faster than the old hot metal printing method, where each individual letter had to be separately cast for each print. Production of my double page spread
- 1. PRODUCTION OF MY DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD Rachel Jones
- 2. I firstly added my main double page spread image onto my layout for my spread. I bled the image across onto the 2nd page.
- 3. I then created text boxes and made them into a black background to put my text over as it is going to be white so it will stand out.
- 4. I then added my headline “23 Fake Street - Not So Fake”, in Berlin Sans FB Demi and put a drop shadow onto it so that it stood out even more.
- 5. I then added a text box and wrote on my stand first in size 14 font, so it is slightly larger than my article text.
- 6. I then added my photograph and words credit to the left underneath my stand first.
- 7. I created a burgundy text box to put a colour behind my stand first and credits so it didn’t look the same as my article. I then resized the box to fit exactly behind my text.
- 8. I created a text box and imported my text into the box by right clicking on the box and pressing “import text”. The text filled the box, but I then set it to 3 columns so that it fitted my 3 columns. I also left a space for my drop Capital at the beginning
- 9. I firstly added my main double page spread image onto my layout for my spread. I bled the image across onto the 2nd page.
- 10. I then added the rest of the text of article onto the second page of my spread and set it into two columns as it did not need 3 because I wanted to put a quote to the left of the text.

- 12. Added quotes I then picked interesting quotes out of the article to place on top of some of the pictures and on the side of the text on my 3rd page. I added 3 quotes in total; one on the main image, one on the secondary image and one in the space to the left of the
