INITIAL IDEAS
We are producing a film trailer for a romantic comedy film, below are
a number of ideas that we have thought about. We will be asking for
audience feedback during the planning and production stages of the
filming of our trailer.
The romantic comedy will be based on a couple that meet on a night
out while being on nights out with their own friends, they get talking
to each other and eventually get together. They have arguments with
their friends about not spending enough time with them since their
new relationship, and Jack think’s it’s a good idea to propose to Lydia
to make it up to his friends because it gives them an excuse to spend
time with each other, at a stag do.
When showing Jack and Lydia’s dates we will be adding in still images
of their dates that skip through each other and adding in effects of
writing saying what they are doing.
PLOT SUMMARY
 Two groups of friends go out, one from each group eventually get
talking to each other.
 After a couple of days spending time together Jack’s friends decide
to speak to him about how he hasn’t been spending any time with the
them.
 Jack thinks that the best way to make it up to his friends is to have
an excuse to party with them without Lydia. So he decides to propose
to her so he can go on a stag party with them.
 Stag party scene / hen party scene of all of them enjoying their
friends last night of freedom.
 Lydia tells her bridesmaid the morning after the hen party that
she’s pregnant, but she doesn’t think Jack will be dedicated enough
to having a child.
CHARACTER PROFILES
- Jack Humphrey – Sam Claflin (Main character as the male in the
relationship the film is based on)
- Jadyn Burns – Max Irons (One of Jack’s best friend seen at the stag
do)
- Nick Jordan – Adam Sandler (Another one of his friends)
- Lydia Collins – Martine McCutcheon (Main character as the female in

the hen do)
- Phoebe Parsons – Rebel Wilson (Another one of Lydia’s friends)

SETTINGS
We will include a number of different settings in our film trailer.
The array of settings that will be included are;
 A scene which shows the two groups of friends on a night out,
possibly set in a town.
 There will be various scenes shot showing Jack and Lydia spending
time with each other. One possibly in a café and one of them doing a
leisure activity.
 We will also include scenes of Jack and his mate enjoying the stag
party before Jack and Lydia get married. This will be party scene.
CONVENTIONS
 Of genre
- We have based the storyline on a ‘boy meets girl’ scenario, which is
typically for a Romantic plot.
- The film trailer will also mainly be from the females POV, this is a
convention because the film is usually centred around the female character.
- Another convention we have used is the ending of the film. It ends with the
relationship being happy and getting married which is usually a conventional
ending for a Romantic Comedy.
 Of form
- A convention of form we used is including several plain shots with writing
about the film on them.
- Also we are including at the beginning the viewer’s discretion and the
production company logo.
- A final convention of form we will be using is having background music
over the trailer.
