What you did: Today I was really busy, I needed to draw, measure, and cut. First, I wore
safety coat. Second, I drew my toy. It was really hard draw sea so I got help from teacher.
Third, I measured distances and drew sea again on the another side of wood. Finally, I cut
my wood. It was difficult to use coping saw. It was my first time using coping saw, because
last year I didn’t make round shapes. I needed to cut many spaces, and the spaces were
really small so it was kind of hard to cut.
Emotion: I was really happy to make toy for kids. Also, I was concerned about I can make
this toy well or not.
AOI: I chose environment, because I need to save wood so I don’y have to pollute nature.
What next: I have to cut all unnecessary spaces, I have to make tree for my toy.
Learner profile: I’m a thinker, because I was thinking how to draw sea and how I cut this sea

Why: I liked to cut the wood, because I liked the sound of cutting and feel of cutting the
wood.

What I did: I was cutting wood again. It was really hard to cut the wood that shape is sea.
There were many curved lines so I needed to cut many spaces. It was kind of difficult to cut
outside of curved lines. I was trying hard to cut outside of curved lines, but sometimes I cut
lines. I just used coping saw, because I only cut the wood.
Emotion: I was little bit sad that I couldn’t finish one shape. I will try to cut one shape in one
day. I was happy to make difficult shape, because next time I can know what tool I need to
use.
AOI: AOI is environment, because I’m using wood and wood is part of nature.
What next: I have to finish cutting the shape of sea. Then I need to find long round shape to
make tree. I have to cut the shape of sea as quick as I can so I can go to next step.

What you did: Today I was doing many things. First, I was cutting my
shape of sea. It was hard to cut curved lines, but I did it. Second, I used
disk sander to make my shape equal. It was kind of hard to make equal
so I had to work on for like 15 minutes. Lastly, it was kind of hard to use
half round files. It was hard to use that, because it was not really getting
smooth, and getting equal. Also, I forgot write it, I wore safety goggles
when I was using disk sander, because wood pieces can go to my eyes.
Emotion: I was really happy that I did many things in one day.
AOI: AOI is environment, because I’m trying to save wood so that I’m not
wasting wood.
What next: I have to make my island equal, and round. Then I have to
make tree shape. I think it will be really hard to make it, but I will try to
make tree shape.

Why: I liked to use disk sander, it’s dangerous machine so I had to be
careful. I hate to use half round files, but I had to use for making my toy

toy the best in our class.

4. Filing my shape of the
island

What you did: I was filling wood whole time. It was really hard to file my
wood, because there were some cut part. It was kind of hard to good
mark from a teacher. I was trying my best to file my wood. I don’t know
why I was filing my wood whole time. I used half round files to file my
wood.
Emotion: I was sad that I couldn’t finish filling my wood. However, I was
happy that I’m doing next step next time.
AOI: AOI is environment, because I’m trying my best to save wood so
I’m not destroying environment.
Learner profile: I think I am risk taker, because I’m trying new things that
I haven’t done before.
What next: I need to get new wood, and make wood shape. I think it will
be one of the hardest thing in my toy.

5. Using trimmer router to

What you did: I was filing my wood first, and I used trimmer router to
make my toy round. It was kind of hard to use trimmer router, because if
I press so hard, black thing will come out. I needed to get teacher’s
permission to use the trimmer router. Also, I had to wear safety goggles
to make my eyes safe.
Emotion: I was happy that I used new tool. It was kind of nervous to use,
but I was happy to use trimmer router.

many mistakes.

6. Using half round files and

What you did: Today I was just using half round files and sand paper to
make my toy round and soft. I was just using sand paper about 1hour. It
was really hard to make my toy round and soft. It was really hard to get
good mark from a teacher. So I had to sand and sand for long time. I
was really angry, when I need to sand again.
Emotion: I was tired, because I need to sand my toy about 1 hour.

to cut, and I broke one coping saw. I cut wood like 30minutes I think.
When I finished cutting wood, teacher helped me cut hard parts. Then I
was filing my wood to make my wood smooth.

What you did: I was cutting another wood for tree shape. I was trying my
best to cut my wood. It took 20 minutes to finish cutting wood for tree
shape. However, I broke one coping saw when I was cutting leaves. It
was my second time breaking coping saw. I think I need to be careful
when I cut wood. Also, I started filing my two pieces of wood for tree
shape. It was kind of hard to make smooth, but I tried my best to make
smooth.

11. Filing wood by using half

What you did: I was trying to file wood for tree shape in one period. I was
filing everywhere that I can file. I was using half round file to file wood
that made for tree shape. When I got checked by teacher, teacher said
it’s great. Then I was going to use disk sander to make my wood
smoother, it was time so I couldn’t.
Emotion: I was glad that teacher said great, and I was happy that I
finished filing wood in one period.

What you did: I was disk sanding my wood to make my wood smooth. It
was hard when I was disk sanding hard part. Then I was filing another
wood. It was harder than what I filed before. I think it will took 2 days to
file perfectly. Also, I marked with pencil where I need to disk sand wood.
Emotion: I was kind of happy when I finished filing one wood. Also, I was
little bit tired of filing another wood.

What you did: I was filing wood with half round files. It was little bit hard
when I need to file difficult part. Then I used disk sander to make my
wood smooth, and equal. I used pedestal drill to drill holes. It was little
bit nervous, but I did it. Then I was fling wood that for bottom of tree. It
was not really working, but I was trying to make that wood smooth.

14. Using PVA glue and using screws to make 3 woods

What you did: I was using PVA glue to stick 2 tree shape wood, and little
block. Then, I drilled more to make put screws easier. I was putting
screws to make woods stick. It was kind of easy, but I heard some
breaking sounds. Then I brought wet cloth to wipe off the2 extra PVA
glue. Also, I was filing wood to make wood smooth. One more that I was
using pedestal drill to drill holes. Then I was cutting wood that is for
turtle. It was kind of hard to cut turtle shape wood. I was trying hard to
cut the wood.
Emotion: I was happy, because I’ve done many things today. I was little
bit tired when I was cutting turtle shape wood.

garnet paper for rest of time to make wood smooth. It was kind of tiring
and it was kind of boring to sand and file. I was trying hard to file and

What you did: I was using disk sander to make turtle wood smooth, and I
removed extra parts. It was kind of hard, because I needed to change
board’s angle so that I can disk sand some difficult parts. Then I was
drilling holes in the base, which is island. I was using pedestal drill to drill
holes. Then I was putting nails to put stick island and tree. I was
concerned with how to put two things in right way, and it was time so I
had to do next time. I was filing trees more so I can have trees smooth. I
also put woof fill thing to cover a hole.
Emotion: I felt little bit tired when I need to screw nails to stick island and

17. Drilling holes in turtle and trees

What you did: I was drilling hole in island first to help join the trees and
island. It was kind of hard to drill, but I tried my best. Then I was sticking
island and trees together. However, because of I drilled deep I needed to
use another screws to stick together. I was drilling hole and trees too,
because I want to stick two together. It was kind of scary when I was
drilling hole on turtle. I used pedestal drill again to drill hole on the turtle
and trees. I used screw driver and screwss to stick island and trees.
Emotion: I was little bit nervous when I was drilling holes on turtle. Also, I
was little bit sad that I’m behind from others.

18. Painting my toy

What you did: I was painting my wood. It was kind of nervous when I
was painting. Because if I do mistake, I couldn’t fix it. I was trying my
best, but I got a lot of punishment from teacher. The reason why,
because I put cap of bottle, which has paint on the table. Later I did
another mistake so I think I need to be better at painting. Even if I got
many punishments, I will try my best to paint my toy. I used paint brush,
cardboard, and water bottle to paint my toy.
Emotion: I was tired when I got many punishments and I was nervous
when I started to paint my toy.

19. Sanding and painting my toy

What you did: I was sanding my toy first to make my toy smooth. Then I
was painting my toy. I used paint brush, paint, and water to paint my toy.
I was trying to paint well,but it’s not working really well. I was painting
new part, which is island and sea part. I didn’t paint sea part, but I paint
island part. The color tree that I painted was so light, but I wanted to
have dark color. However, this toy is for kids so I will just paint with
brown that is light. I used paint, which is acqualic paint.
Emotion: I was little bit sad when I the color of tree is bright. Also, I was
tired when I need to paint again and again.

20. Sanding my toy and painting my toy again

What you did: I was sanding my toy to make wood smooth. It was kind of
easy, but it was kind of hard to paint. Painting was the hardest job for
me, but I was trying hard to paint. There was one accident, which little bit
brown color got on the island so I had to sand really hard. When I
painted island with yellow paint, the brown color was coming out little bit.
Next time, I had to sand really hard again and paint my toy. I think my
toy will finish on tuesday. I was using paint, paint brush, cardboard,
water to paint the toy.
Emotion: I was happy when I almost finished with my toy. However, I
was sad that we don’t have much time to finish the toy.

paint last part, but there is only 2 days so I think I need to work hard.
Why: I was happy when I got to last part, but I was sad when have only
3 days. I had to stick wood and turtle with spring, but I need to paint and
sand. So I think I better be finished on monday. That can make me finish
making toy on tuesday.

21. Sanding and painting the toy again

What you did: I was sanding the toy again to make smooth and to paint
again. Then I was using paint, paint brush, cardboard and water to paint
my toy. I was trying to paint my toy nicely, but it’s not working very well.
First I was painting leaves then I was painting island, sea and trees to
finish making toy. I need to sand and paint sea again and I need to stick
turtle and tree to finish my toy.
