Development Reflection
An extremely basic DPS prototype made using Adobe InDesign, which specializes in textual manipulation and text-based products with image as an auxiliary facet. As
displayed above, it is a roughshod idea in the midst of development, and is therefore incredibly bare when compared to a finished and polished product. The text is
pure lorem ipsum, and is merely experimental filler to put substance in empty space. Wrap text as been used to fold the text around the image, and spreads it out
along the entirety of the spread, rather than messily running over the image and obstructing the view, severely downgrading the overall quality of the piece. The text
has been manipulated to flow from one column into the next, an effect enabled by pasting a large amount of text into a single column while having multiple empty
columns open.
A more cohesive and refined mid-production DPS, with a focus on professional photography. The stability of the product is given to the 5x5 grid that is spread out
across the two pages. By evenly dividing up the total amount of space available, it gives the user an order to their organisational process and the conservation of
content, with the rule of wholly filling up a single box ensuring that there is no wasted space.
A first attempt at web design using Adobe InDesign, based around a centralised concept and constructed using an 8-column grid. An experiment in using different
types of InDesign layout grids to create different products. The colour scheme was chosen to create a unifying border over the text, as well as to fill up any
unnecessary empty space.
An unofficial website created using Wix, a professional website publishing platform. With a heavy focus on customisation and and personalised design, it is ideal for
someone who wishes for a website that displays the creator’s personality. There are many templates to choose from when using Wix, as well as the option to create
your own template, which is what I did. The lengths of the site’s customisable abilities is aptly shown above, from the array of tools that are available to the way the
previously drab layout is transformed into one bursting with vibrance.
Another attempt at using Wix, this time creating a landing page under construction. As this was my first attempt at using the software, I mainly used this opportunity
to experiment and explore Wix’s capabilities, which included changing the background, altering the text, and using the tools present to otherwise completely separate
it from its base design.
