The document outlines seven guiding principles for selecting effective teaching strategies: (1) Learning is active and involves hands-on activities, (2) Using multiple senses enhances learning, (3) A positive classroom environment without threats improves learning, (4) Emotion increases retention, (5) Meaningful connections to students' lives aids learning, (6) Teaching should go beyond recall to higher-order thinking, (7) An integrated approach addressing multiple intelligences and learning styles is most effective. The document advocates using brain-based strategies like visual aids, songs, projects and hands-on activities to create meaningful and engaging lessons. There is no single best method; teachers should consider objectives, content, students and policies to choose

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2. Guiding Principles in the Selection and Use of
Teaching Strategies:
1. Learning is an active process.
We have to actively engage the learners in learning
activities if we want them to learn what we intend to
teach.
Hands-on-minds learning
Research shows
75% retention rates in learning by doing
90% retention rates learning by teaching others
3. Guiding Principles in the Selection and Use of
Teaching Strategies:
2. The more senses that are involved in learning, the
more and the better the learning.

4. Guiding Principles in the Selection and Use of
Teaching Strategies:
3. A non-threatening atmosphere enhances learning.
Physical classroom condition:
proper lightning
good ventilation
Order
Tidiness
painting of the room
5. Guiding Principles in the Selection and Use of
Teaching Strategies:
Psychological climate:
personality of a teacher
rapport between students and the teacher
relationship among students
Steps on how to create a positive classroom atmosphere:
1) Cultivate culture of respect
2) Believe in our student’s capacity
3) Make our students feel they belong to a community of learners
with shared goal or purpose
4) Encourage more collaboration and cooperation and less
competition
5) Give allowance for mistakes
6. Guiding Principles in the Selection and Use of
Teaching Strategies:
4. Emotion has the power to increase retention and
learning.
bring emotion into the classroom
recognize the power of emotion to increase retention
7. Guiding Principles in the Selection and Use of
Teaching Strategies:
5. Learning is meaningful when it is connected to the
students’ everyday life.
The meaningfulness & relevance of what we teach is
considerably reduced by our practice of teaching simply
for testing.
“answering pedagogy”
6. Good teaching goes beyond recall of information
teaching should reach the levels of application,
analysis, synthesis, and evaluation to hone our student’s
thinking skills.
8. Guiding Principles in the Selection and Use of
Teaching Strategies:
7. An integrated teaching approach is far more effective
than teaching isolated bits of information.
considers the Multiple Intelligences (MI) & varied
learning styles (LS) of students
11. Guiding Principles in the Selection and Use of
Teaching Strategies:
An integrated approach incorporates successful, research-
based and brain- based instructional strategies.
Some research findings about the brain (Wolfe, 2001):
1) Without rehearsal or constant attention, information remains in
working memory for only about 15-20 secs.
2) Learning is a process of building neural networks.
3) Our brains have difficulty comprehending very large numbers
because we have nothing in our experience to ‘hook’ them to.
4) The eyes contain nearly 70% of the body’s sensory receptors & send
millions of signals every second along the optic nerves to the visual
processing of the brain.
5) There is little doubt when information is embedded in the music or
rhyme, its recall is easier than when it is in prose.
12. Guiding Principles in the Selection and Use of
Teaching Strategies:
Brain- based strategies:
1) Involving Students in Real-life or Authentic Problem-
Solving
2) Using Projects to Increase Meaning & Motivation
3) Simulations & Roleplays as Meaning makers
4) Classroom Strategies Using Visual Processing
o Visuals are powerful aids in retention as well as in
understanding.

Teaching Strategies:

19. Guiding Principles in the Selection and Use of
Teaching Strategies:
5) Songs, jingles & raps
6) Mnemonic Strategies
7) Writing Strategies
8) Active Review
9) Hands-on activities
20. Guiding Principles in the Selection and Use of
Teaching Strategies:
An integrated approach is also interdisciplinary and
multidisciplinary.
An instructional Approach is also integrated when it
includes the acquisition of knowledge, skills as well as
values.
21. Guiding Principles in the Selection and Use of
Teaching Strategies:
8. There is no such thing as best teaching method. The
best method is the one that works, the one that yields
results.
Factors to consider in the choice of teaching method:
a) Instructional objective;
b) Nature of the subject matter;
c) The learners;
d) The teacher; &
e) School policies.
