The coronavirus recession also known as the Great Lockdown or the Great shutdown is a severe global recession since Great Depression 1929-30. It has resulted in shutdown of many businesses like aviation, automobile, hospitality, rail transport etc. causing massive job losses world over.
Telemedicine refers to the innovative means of distributing health-related services using digital devices such as phones and computers. As a result, patients could easily get medical advice, reminders, monitoring, education, etc., from the comfort of their homes. This technology also allows healthcare providers to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients without needing an in-clinic session. Instead, patients can use medical apps or call a telemedicine number usually provided by the office of a primary care physician.
The development of telemedicine is deeply rooted in the growth of technology and society. Humans have long pursued relaying messages via optical telegraphy, telescope, and wireless transmission. The early forms of telemedicine performed with phones and radio have been generally supplemented with video telephony and advanced diagnostic methods and additional with telemedical devices. The 21st century has, however, seen telemedicine take a transformative role in healthcare through the emergence of high-speed portable internet devices.
Spurred by the 21st-century digital shift, virtual health sessions have become a vastly popular and ideal alternative to traditional in-clinic care. In its years of inception, unfamiliarity with the technology required to perform telemedicine services contributed heavily to its lack of widespread use and slow growth generally.
Cyber security has been a challenge for patients and healthcare providers using telemedicine platforms as the technology involves electronically transmitting patient data, making them susceptible to hackers and other security breaches. Healthcare organizations remain a big target for online criminals. There is also the issue of inadequate technical training and equipment for practitioners in this field.

Are you wondering how the digital health scene is responding to the Corona crisis and how innovations can have an impact beyond COVID-19?
What kind of digital health innovations are coming up at the moment and could they be a real game changer? And what about the time after COVID-19? Can we hope for a more connected healthcare in the future?
Our expert Elisa Frenz, Chief Digital Officer at Health Proc Europe, is going to provide you with the answers in an interactive dialogue. In order to connect the dots and accelerate impact, your ideas and opinions on the topic are wanted!
The COVID-19 coronavirus has impacted countries, communities and individuals in countless ways, from school closures to health-care insurance issues not to undermined loss of lives.
As governments scramble to address these problems, different solutions based on blockchain technologies have sprung up to help deal with the worldwide health crisis. Blockchain will surely not prevent the emergence of new viruses itself, but what it can do is create the first line of rapid protection through a network of connected devices whose primary goal is to remain alert about disease outbreaks.
Therefore, the use of blockchain-enabled platforms can help prevent these pandemics by enabling early detection of epidemics, fast-tracking drug trials, and impact management of outbreaks and treatment.

2020 Survey Report: Lobbying Through the Pandemic - Is Digital Advocacy the N...Andras Baneth
The Public Affairs Council’s European office conducted a pop survey between July and September 2020 to learn how European public affairs and communication executives see the new reality that has emerged since the COVID-19 pandemic.
We collected responses from over 50 organizations and what we learned is that digital advocacy is here to stay. European public affairs teams were quick to adopt digital tools, but traditional tools remain widely used. Respondents believe they’ve managed the crisis well so far. There are, however, challenges that won’t go away anytime soon, including adapting to corporate budget cuts and to policymakers’ focus on the response to the pandemic.

As well as impacting health, they also affect overall well-being and quality of life, especially where resources for prevention, diagnosis and treatment are limited. Approaches based on new digital health technologies can contribute to better #oralhealth for all. In the context of the Be He@lthy Be Mobile initiative, the World Health Organization and the International Telecommunication Union have developed "Mobile technologies for oral health: an implementation guide”.
Early childhood caries (ECC) affects teeth of children aged under six years. According to the Global Burden of Disease Study in 2017, more than 530 million children globally have dental caries of the primary teeth. However, as primary teeth are exfoliated due to growth of the child, #ECC has previously not been considered important.
Dental caries can lead to abscesses and cause toothache, which may compromise ability to eat and sleep and restrict life activity of children.
Prevalence of ECC is increasing rapidly in low and middle-income countries, and dental caries is particularly frequent or severe among children living in deprived communities. In many countries, access to dental care is not equitable, leaving poor children and families underserved.

Start-up and entrepreneurship promotion is a clear priority for the Indian government to fuel economic growth and provide much needed jobs. However, as a recent study by the Planning Commission highlights, gaps remain in the Indian start-up eco-system: Apart from challenges in access to capital, the current support and incubation system is not sufficient to strengthen entrepreneurship in the country.
Currently, there are around 220 incubators in India. Looking
at the demand, incubation capacities need to increase to
1,000 incubators by the year 2020.

Standards for improving the quality of care for children and young adolescent...Trinity Care Foundation
These standards for the quality of paediatric care in health facilities form part of normative guidance for improving the quality of maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health care.
The goal of this publication is to ensure that the care given to all children, including young adolescents, in health facilities is evidence-based, safe, effective, timely, efficient, equitable and appropriate for their age and stage of development. The standards were developed in the best interests of children, in recognition of the fact that their requirements are different from those of adults and to ensure their right to high-quality health care. The standards are applicable to all facilities that provide health care to children and adolescents.
Scope: The action plan provides a road map and a menu of policy options for all Member States and other stakeholders, to take coordinated and coherent action, at all levels, local to global, to attain the nine voluntary global targets, including that of a 25% relative reduction in premature mortality from cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes or chronic respiratory diseases by 2025.
Focus: The main focus of this action plan is on four types of NCDs — cardiovascular diseases, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes — which make the largest contribution to morbidity and mortality due to NCDs, and on four shared behavioral risk factors — tobacco use, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity and harmful use of alcohol. It recognizes that the conditions in which people live and work and their lifestyles influence their health and quality of life.
Global atlas on cardiovascular disease prevention and control policies, strat...Trinity Care Foundation
As the magnitude of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) continue to accelerate globally, the pressing need for increased awareness and for stronger and more focused international and country responses is increasingly recognized. This atlas on cardiovascular disease prevention and control is part of the response to this need.
It documents the magnitude of the problem, using global cardiovascular mortality and morbidity data. It demonstrates the inequities in access to protection, exposure to risk, and access to care as the cause of major inequalities between countries and populations in the occurrence and outcome of CVDs. The report has graphs showing mortality rates of CVDs by age, by country/region, and is divided into three main sections:
Section A: Cardiovascular diseases due to atherosclerosis
Section B: Other cardiovascular diseases
Section C: Prevention and control of CVDs: Policies, strategies and interventions.

These simplified slides by Dr. Sidra Arshad present an overview of the non-respiratory functions of the respiratory tract.
Learning objectives:
1. Enlist the non-respiratory functions of the respiratory tract
2. Briefly explain how these functions are carried out
3. Discuss the significance of dead space
4. Differentiate between minute ventilation and alveolar ventilation
5. Describe the cough and sneeze reflexes

Lung Cancer: Artificial Intelligence, Synergetics, Complex System Analysis, S...Oleg Kshivets
RESULTS: Overall life span (LS) was 2252.1±1742.5 days and cumulative 5-year survival (5YS) reached 73.2%, 10 years – 64.8%, 20 years – 42.5%. 513 LCP lived more than 5 years (LS=3124.6±1525.6 days), 148 LCP – more than 10 years (LS=5054.4±1504.1 days).199 LCP died because of LC (LS=562.7±374.5 days). 5YS of LCP after bi/lobectomies was significantly superior in comparison with LCP after pneumonectomies (78.1% vs.63.7%, P=0.00001 by log-rank test). AT significantly improved 5YS (66.3% vs. 34.8%) (P=0.00000 by log-rank test) only for LCP with N1-2. Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: phase transition (PT) early-invasive LC in terms of synergetics, PT N0—N12, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells- CC and blood cells subpopulations), G1-3, histology, glucose, AT, blood cell circuit, prothrombin index, heparin tolerance, recalcification time (P=0.000-0.038). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and PT early-invasive LC (rank=1), PT N0—N12 (rank=2), thrombocytes/CC (3), erythrocytes/CC (4), eosinophils/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), segmented neutrophils/CC (8), stick neutrophils/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10); leucocytes/CC (11). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (area under ROC curve=1.0; error=0.0).
CONCLUSIONS: 5YS of LCP after radical procedures significantly depended on: 1) PT early-invasive cancer; 2) PT N0--N12; 3) cell ratio factors; 4) blood cell circuit; 5) biochemical factors; 6) hemostasis system; 7) AT; 8) LC characteristics; 9) LC cell dynamics; 10) surgery type: lobectomy/pneumonectomy; 11) anthropometric data. Optimal diagnosis and treatment strategies for LC are: 1) screening and early detection of LC; 2) availability of experienced thoracic surgeons because of complexity of radical procedures; 3) aggressive en block surgery and adequate lymph node dissection for completeness; 4) precise prediction; 5) adjuvant chemoimmunoradiotherapy for LCP with unfavorable prognosis.
