The effect of work autonomy, work engagement on employment commitment and
satisfaction: a study of work from home employees and coronavirus

Introduction:
Coronavirus is a global pandemic disease declared by WHO on 11th march 2020
and its pandemicity rate in the big bull market of globalized world. Globally, there was rush
of people from one place to another place which become the considerable and vital reason
for its spread. The outbreak was first of all identified in the world’s busiest city namely
Wuhan of Hubei province in China. The WHO declared it as public health emergency of
international concern on 30 January 2020.As officially declared by the health concerning
organization of the world WHO and the authenticity of this news was proved by the global
news network BBC that heretofore ,no vaccine has been discovered so far and nearly it may
go far beyond which may extend to several years in the formulation of vaccine for this
pandemic COVID 19 and to tackle this major problem which has become the headache for
world leaders as well to common people. Inevitably government is giving necessary
directions and major ameliorative steps are being taken in order to control the virus and
break the chain of SARS COV 2
In the meanwhile global lockdown has emerged as once the major
concern as people are facing the hardships and penury due to lack and insufficienct
availment of resources .what people should do in order to fulfill the requirements and pre
requisites at their home. A nationwide lockdown was announced by our honourable PM of
INDIA Narendra Modi for 21 days and this nationwide lockdown may get extended for
several months. This pandemic created chaos and mess throughout the world and widely
global economy got the bumpyride mainly resulting in the Stockmarket crash and decline in
the tremendously increasing GDP of the world nations, Insolvency and bankruptcy of the
MNC’s throughout the world. In India due to the COVID 19 and decrement and Impact due
to this pandemic disease ARTICLE 360 of Indian Constitution i.e . ,financial emergency may
get levied which has not been done so far from the commencement of the constitution.
IMPACT:
workers have been directed to work from their respective homes in order to break the
chain, but the question is that whether the work engagement of the people working in
different fields ,are they satisfied with what they have been ordered to work within the
premises of their home, are they doing justice with themselves and their profession. For
supposition taking an example of student community autonomous work and satisfaction is
not being fulfilled, because whatever the student will grab and grasp whatever being taught
by their concerned teachers in that peculiar subject they won’t be able to understand the
total lecture thus ruining everything because the atmosphere in the classroomis in all
totally a different thing. Thereto, total injustice with the student community and a major
problem due COVID 19 and countrywide lockdown. Self-autonomy, engagement and
commitment in autonomy will contradict with what was said and what is being done.
As everybody is acquainted about that doctors profession is contemplated to be as one of
the noble profession and in this natural disaster how doctors responded and their
reasonable and intensive efforts towards the people having positive cases of COVID 19 was
done through curative and in a remedial way .
As MSF responded to the COVID 19:
We are deeply concerned about how COVID 19 might affect people living in precarious
environments such as homeless, those living in refugee camps in GREECE OR BANGLADESH,
OR conflict affected groups of SYRIA or YEMEN .
The high level of supportive and intensive care required has placed a heavy burden on some
of the world’s most advanced healthcare systems.
Deepening a social divide
Public health experts are divided about whether this lockdown was absolutely necessary
and indeed implementable. It should have been clear that a total lockdown was possible
only for the rich and the middle class with assured incomes during the period, homes with
spaces for distancing, health insurance and running water supply. But how can we justify the
choice of a strategy which throws the dispossessed, who lack all of the above, to both
hunger and infection? When ordering the lockdown, did the government not remember the
millions of informal workers and destitute people who would have no work if they stayed
home, many of them circular migrants, estimated at100 million? These include casual daily
wage workers; self-employed people such as rag-pickers, rickshaw pullers and street
vendors; and people forced to survive by alms.
Many among them are people whose earnings each day barely suffice to enable them to eat
and feed their families.
A lot many are fearing loss of job, some have already seen pay cuts and appraisals are
getting delayed almost for everyone -- The COVID-19 crisis and the ongoing lockdown has
left employees feeling anxious and worried about their future, prompting many corporates
to look for ways to keep the staff motivated.
Some are roping in psychologists to conduct ''happiness sessions'' for staff members over
video conferencing, others have decided to keep communicating with them regularly about
business updates and a few are also promising necessary steps to safeguard their career
progression along with additional perks for ''performers'' during such difficult times.
Experts said there is high stress that the current crisis has brought upon employees as well
as organizations, and with the lockdown not looking to end soon, the emotional challenges
employees are confronting have increased manifold.
On top of it, some retail touch points have remained open during the pandemic and
employees who are still working onsite in industries such as healthcare, food services and
critical manufacturing operations will have different stress levels and concerns than those
working from home.
Onsite employees are under extreme worry of being infected by co-workers or customers.
They are worried if the organization will be able to provide sufficient workplace safety and
one of their biggest worries is to travel to work without being
India is the country with more or less a classical type of work culture, bringing all in
sudden the technology to establish the connectivity between the employers and employees
has brought enormous changes in the work culture.
The employees who were not accustomed to the online home based working system
found it hectic and irritating at times.
While, some say that the home based working culture will improve the work quality
as the employees get a platform to work out of pressure and out of bossy attitude of their
employers
Everybody should try to make conclusive and confident step towards the COVID 19 and
make people aware regarding the pessimistic repercussions of this natural disaster and join
the authorities against this pandemic disaster overflown upon us to control the spread of
this disease and break the chain in order to overcome the disease.

  • 1. The effect of work autonomy, work engagement on employment commitment and satisfaction: a study of work from home employees and coronavirus Saifullah Yaqoob Introduction: Coronavirus is a global pandemic disease declared by WHO on 11th march 2020 and its pandemicity rate in the big bull market of globalized world. Globally, there was rush of people from one place to another place which become the considerable and vital reason for its spread. The outbreak was first of all identified in the world’s busiest city namely Wuhan of Hubei province in China. The WHO declared it as public health emergency of international concern on 30 January 2020.As officially declared by the health concerning organization of the world WHO and the authenticity of this news was proved by the global news network BBC that heretofore ,no vaccine has been discovered so far and nearly it may go far beyond which may extend to several years in the formulation of vaccine for this pandemic COVID 19 and to tackle this major problem which has become the headache for world leaders as well to common people. Inevitably government is giving necessary directions and major ameliorative steps are being taken in order to control the virus and break the chain of SARS COV 2 In the meanwhile global lockdown has emerged as once the major concern as people are facing the hardships and penury due to lack and insufficienct availment of resources .what people should do in order to fulfill the requirements and pre requisites at their home. A nationwide lockdown was announced by our honourable PM of INDIA Narendra Modi for 21 days and this nationwide lockdown may get extended for several months. This pandemic created chaos and mess throughout the world and widely global economy got the bumpyride mainly resulting in the Stockmarket crash and decline in the tremendously increasing GDP of the world nations, Insolvency and bankruptcy of the MNC’s throughout the world. In India due to the COVID 19 and decrement and Impact due to this pandemic disease ARTICLE 360 of Indian Constitution i.e . ,financial emergency may get levied which has not been done so far from the commencement of the constitution. IMPACT: workers have been directed to work from their respective homes in order to break the chain, but the question is that whether the work engagement of the people working in different fields ,are they satisfied with what they have been ordered to work within the premises of their home, are they doing justice with themselves and their profession. For supposition taking an example of student community autonomous work and satisfaction is not being fulfilled, because whatever the student will grab and grasp whatever being taught by their concerned teachers in that peculiar subject they won’t be able to understand the total lecture thus ruining everything because the atmosphere in the classroomis in all totally a different thing. Thereto, total injustice with the student community and a major problem due COVID 19 and countrywide lockdown. Self-autonomy, engagement and commitment in autonomy will contradict with what was said and what is being done.

As everybody is acquainted about that doctors profession is contemplated to be as one of the noble profession and in this natural disaster how doctors responded and their reasonable and intensive efforts towards the people having positive cases of COVID 19 was done through curative and in a remedial way . As MSF responded to the COVID 19: We are deeply concerned about how COVID 19 might affect people living in precarious environments such as homeless, those living in refugee camps in GREECE OR BANGLADESH, OR conflict affected groups of SYRIA or YEMEN . The high level of supportive and intensive care required has placed a heavy burden on some of the world’s most advanced healthcare systems. Deepening a social divide Public health experts are divided about whether this lockdown was absolutely necessary and indeed implementable. It should have been clear that a total lockdown was possible only for the rich and the middle class with assured incomes during the period, homes with spaces for distancing, health insurance and running water supply. But how can we justify the choice of a strategy which throws the dispossessed, who lack all of the above, to both hunger and infection? When ordering the lockdown, did the government not remember the millions of informal workers and destitute people who would have no work if they stayed home, many of them circular migrants, estimated at100 million? These include casual daily wage workers; self-employed people such as rag-pickers, rickshaw pullers and street vendors; and people forced to survive by alms. Many among them are people whose earnings each day barely suffice to enable them to eat and feed their families. A lot many are fearing loss of job, some have already seen pay cuts and appraisals are getting delayed almost for everyone -- The COVID-19 crisis and the ongoing lockdown has left employees feeling anxious and worried about their future, prompting many corporates to look for ways to keep the staff motivated. Some are roping in psychologists to conduct ''happiness sessions'' for staff members over video conferencing, others have decided to keep communicating with them regularly about business updates and a few are also promising necessary steps to safeguard their career progression along with additional perks for ''performers'' during such difficult times. Experts said there is high stress that the current crisis has brought upon employees as well as organizations, and with the lockdown not looking to end soon, the emotional challenges employees are confronting have increased manifold. On top of it, some retail touch points have remained open during the pandemic and employees who are still working onsite in industries such as healthcare, food services and critical manufacturing operations will have different stress levels and concerns than those working from home. Onsite employees are under extreme worry of being infected by co-workers or customers.

They are worried if the organization will be able to provide sufficient workplace safety and one of their biggest worries is to travel to work without being India is the country with more or less a classical type of work culture, bringing all in sudden the technology to establish the connectivity between the employers and employees has brought enormous changes in the work culture. The employees who were not accustomed to the online home based working system found it hectic and irritating at times. While, some say that the home based working culture will improve the work quality as the employees get a platform to work out of pressure and out of bossy attitude of their employers Everybody should try to make conclusive and confident step towards the COVID 19 and make people aware regarding the pessimistic repercussions of this natural disaster and join the authorities against this pandemic disaster overflown upon us to control the spread of this disease and break the chain in order to overcome the disease.
