Primary Health Care (PHC) is the first level of contact that provides essential health care universally and is based on practical, scientifically sound, and socially acceptable methods. It includes health promotion, disease prevention, treatment and care services through community participation. PHC was established at the Alma-Ata Conference in 1978 and focuses on equitable access, community involvement, and multisectoral cooperation. However, challenges remain in fully implementing PHC including inadequate resources, infrastructure gaps, and lack of community participation in some areas.
