Natasha created promotional materials for the release of an album, including a music video, CD/DVD digipak cover, and magazine advertisement. She conducted research through a questionnaire to determine her target audience of teenagers and young adults, and their preferences for music videos and effects. Her music video took inspiration from the Chemical Brothers' "Galvanize" video, featuring clown characters having fun in various nightlife locations. Feedback was positive for the cohesive color adjustments in the video and designs of the ancillary materials, with suggestions to improve clarity and add more content. Natasha used iMovie to edit footage and Photoshop to design the additional promotional materials.
This document provides guidance for a case study assignment on music video production. It outlines three tasks: 1) the purposes and strategies of music videos, 2) styles, techniques and conventions of music video production, and 3) a case study analyzing at least three music videos. It discusses learning outcomes related to understanding the purpose and production of music videos. The document provides questions to guide research and analysis for each task, focusing on topics like the purposes of music videos, camerawork, editing, technical developments, and comparing different artists' music video styles.
The document discusses how the author designed three media products - a music video, advertisement poster, and digipac - for a pop artist named Phoebe Cooper. To make the products feel cohesive and professional, the author ensured consistency across key elements like color scheme, logo/font, and camera shots. A vibrant color palette of blues, whites, and blacks was used throughout to suit the pop genre. Medium and close-up shots of the artist were used to emphasize her status and appeal to the target audience. Small props from the music video were deliberately excluded from the other products to encourage audiences to watch the full video.
The document discusses the effectiveness of the promotional package for a music artist that includes a main product (music video) and ancillary texts (photo shoot and advertisement).
[1] The package is considered successful because there are clear visual links between the products through the use of consistent photos of the artist and similar clothing/backgrounds that allow the audience to easily recognize the artist across the different media.
[2] One visual link is the use of a memorable hat prop in both the music video and photo shoot, while another is the use of an image from the music video in the advertisement.

The document summarizes feedback from a focus group about a music video. Participants felt that the use of black and white added to the dull and bleak narrative about a disastrous relationship. They also responded positively to the point-of-view shots and handheld camera work that put the audience in the characters' perspective. While most felt the indie genre and narrative were conveyed clearly, one participant suggested including more relationship abuse scenes for clarity. Overall, the feedback was very positive and confirmed that the video successfully presented its narrative in an understandable way.
The document discusses the effectiveness of combining the main product (a music album) with ancillary texts (additional promotional materials).
To ensure continuity across products, the author established a consistent color scheme, font, camera shots, and logo. This unified branding allows the target audience to easily recognize and associate all of the artist's products.
Specific design elements like costumes, camera angles, and rule of thirds composition techniques were used intentionally to portray the artist as confident, glamorous, and independent in a way that would appeal to the target demographic.
Some props from the music video were deliberately excluded from other materials to generate intrigue and encourage audiences to watch the full video. Overall, the interlinking iconic elements
The document discusses the effectiveness of combining a main product and ancillary texts by maintaining consistency across products. Specifically, it maintains:
- A consistent color scheme, font, and camera shots to create continuity.
- A logo featured on all products to easily identify the artist and increase recognition.
- Medium and close-up shots on the artist to engage the target audience and reflect the artist's personality.
- Some props are deliberately excluded to intrigue audiences and encourage viewing the music video.
Overall, maintaining these consistent elements across the three products creates an interrelationship that effectively promotes the artist.
The document provides instructions for completing a case study assignment on music video production. Key conventions it employed were starring the main artist, using lip syncing, setting scenes in a stage, prison, and home, and using camera angles to show emotions. The document also evaluates how effectively the music video and ancillary texts of a digipack and album advert work together and for the target audience.
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conv...07knappchr
This document discusses the media creator's music video, print advertisement, and digipak for a band.
For the music video, the creator used filming techniques like tracking shots and quick close-ups to tell a narrative about a man choosing between his music career and his girlfriend. For the print ad, an hourglass layout draws the eye to the band's image and details. Photographs from filming were used to create the digipak, which includes necessary information like the copyright and playlists. Conventions of real media products were researched and applied.
Christian John Spencer Fox proposes creating an unofficial music video for the song "rock + roll" by EDEN. He will film a short film about a breakup that will transition into a montage-style music video reflecting the aftermath. Fox gained experience with audio recording, cameras, and film techniques through previous projects. He will research EDEN's music videos and film techniques to distinguish his video. Fox will blog weekly about the project and seek feedback to evaluate the final product.
Johnny Fonseca completed his AS coursework in 2013 studying music media. Clara Barroso analyzed Johnny's blog to inform her own media coursework on the same music genre. Johnny's blog had an easy layout to find his work in different categories like research, planning, evaluation, and final magazine. His research posts provided clear information about the music industry and magazines. His planning posts showed his photography skills through contact sheets of images he took for his magazine. His evaluation used Adobe InDesign to create mini magazines answering the evaluation questions. His final magazine and cover effectively represented the R&B genre through layout, fonts, colors, and a model.
The candidate learned several important lessons from receiving feedback on their music video, magazine advertisement, and digipak from their target audience. They found that regularly incorporating feedback helped improve their work and make it more appealing. While not all feedback was applied, considering suggestions and finding compromises helped enhance the projects. The candidate discovered that pleasing all audience members can be difficult but that variability in elements like cutting pace kept most engaged.
Toby Jackson will create a documentary about Yorkshire filmed in an expository style with narration and voiceovers. They will focus on rural and less populated areas to make the documentary unique. Toby's strengths include using cameras and editing software, while their limitations are coming up with ideas, planning, and managing deadlines. To improve, they will spend more time researching, planning, and checking their work, as well as solidifying their ideas earlier. David Attenborough and his nature documentaries are influences for Toby's style.

The document also includes links to video recordings uploaded by each student.
The document provides an evaluation of a media foundation portfolio that included the production of an opening film clip. It summarizes the research conducted on film conventions, the representation of social groups, the intended audience, and technologies used. Key lessons learned included developing skills in film editing, receiving feedback to improve, and appreciating the importance of planning and organization for successful project completion.
The document discusses a media foundation portfolio evaluation that analyzed how the student's media product used, developed or challenged conventions of real media. It summarizes that the student's opening titles were similar to comedy films by appearing after the opening scene in a simple font/color. It represented a social group of young working class males getting ready for work, showing attention to costumes/setting. The intended audience was working class young adults, and it could be distributed on channels like E4, BBC3 and ITV2 targeting that demographic.
The document contains audience feedback from the testing of various media created to promote an indie music band. For a music video, feedback indicated it looked professional but some camerawork was shaky. Respondents understood the narrative and wanted to see how the story concluded. For later edits, feedback showed a preference for a balance of performance and narrative elements. An advertisement design was called professional, eye-catching and resembling a magazine. Feedback on a digipak confirmed the design looked professionally indie and would appeal to buyers in stores. Respondents particularly engaged with personal touches and youthful band images.
The document proposes an instructional barbering video for students aged 16-18 taking barbering courses. It will demonstrate barbering techniques and include close-up camera angles, on-screen text, and background music that drops for dialogue. The document is a proposal for a short film called "Producer(s): Clara Barroso Production Title: Short Film" by Haydon Media. It will be a 5.5 minute drama/family film shot in Portugal using a cinema verite style. It will have two main characters and incorporate different age groups and locations to appeal to a wide "PG" audience internationally, while conveying a message about humanity and love. The film draws inspiration from short animated films like "In a Heartbeat" as well as live action shorts like "I Just Sued The School System".
The document discusses the character mise-en-scene for the filmmaker's short film. It describes the two main characters, Joana and Margarida Goncalves, who are sisters. Joana, age 9, represents next generation kids and was chosen for her colorful dress that helps her stand out in nature scenes. Margarida, age 13, represents today's teenagers and was chosen for a dark blue dress that adds shadows as she walks alone near water. The filmmaker wanted the characters to be themselves but represent specific groups for the audience to relate to.
This the location mise-en-scene for the chosen locations that I will be shooting in for my short film. I have chosen four different locations in Portugal to shoot in.
This is comparison work between my first drafts and my final products with my film poster(s) and my double page magazine article. Work by Clara Barroso.
Editing Process -Final Magazine Article: Clara Barrosohanaa_m
The document discusses the editing process for a final magazine article. It focuses on an article written by Clara Barroso that will undergo editing before publication. The editing process will refine and polish the article to ensure it meets standards for clarity, concision, flow, and interest before being published in the magazine.
Clara Barroso took a portrait photograph of a child at sunset in Portugal to use as the main image for her film poster. She used Lightroom to add a filter and adjust the image. However, the photograph was a portrait orientation and she needed a landscape version. So in Photoshop, she edited the portrait photograph to transform it into a landscape version for the film poster by cropping parts of the sun and child's body and using various tools while trying not to overedit the image.
This document compares the first draft and final product of a magazine advertisement and a digipak. The digipak section shows three iterations of "FIRST DRAFT VS FINAL PRODUCT" while the magazine advertisement shows the text "FIRST DRAFT VS FINAL PRODUCT" laid out differently from the digipak versions.
This call sheet provides details for the short film "Believe" to be shot from August 19th to September 4th 2017 in Portugal. It outlines the production team including Clara Barroso as producer and director, locations in Barcelos, Apulia, Fatima/Leiria, and Praia Fluvial de Merelim. The main cast and their roles are listed along with required equipment, scenes to be shot, clothing needs, and transportation plans.
This document provides a rushes log for the short film "Believe" with descriptions and technical notes for various video clips. It contains over 30 video clips ranging from 1 second to 1 minute 30 seconds in length, with descriptions of the camera angles, subjects, and technical issues like focus, lighting, or shakiness. The notes provide instructions on how to trim, speed up, or stabilize clips for optimal use in the final short film product.
This document provides a shot list for the short film "Believe" with details on 65 shots including location, shot type, focus, movement, subjects, and timing. The shots cover a range of types including close-ups, medium shots, long shots, and establish establishing shots. Subjects include candles, people, instruments, beaches, churches and more. Shot lengths vary from 2 to 25 seconds with most between 2-10 seconds. The shot list shows coverage of multiple scenes and characters to tell the story.
The document outlines stages in a production process including drafting, magazine advertisements, and digipaks. It refers to different formats for promotional materials like advertisements and packaged media like digipaks. The stages are part of a larger workflow or production cycle.
This document contains a rushes log for the music video production of AKMU's Dinosaur by producer Mina Yakinya. It lists 20 video clips by filename, duration, description, and any relevant comments on usage. Most clips will be used after trimming or fixes like stabilization, color correction, or reducing shakiness. A few clips are deemed not usable due to issues like being out of focus, cutting off subjects, or unstable footage.
Creating my title requires planning during the pre-production phase. This initial stage involves determining the overall vision and scope for the project, including researching the topic, developing a treatment, creating a schedule and budget, and assembling a team.
Editing involves two main processes - production editing and post-production editing. Production editing occurs during filming and ensures the shots and scenes being filmed will effectively tell the story. Post-production editing assembles all of the filmed material into the final cut by organizing shots, removing unwanted footage, and determining pacing and flow.
Editing involves careful planning and consideration. The editor must first analyze the document to understand its key points and structure. They then determine how to best refine and improve the content to make it clear, concise, and effective for the intended audience.
The document provides an overview of the brand guidelines the student created for an indie artist named Samina Roka. The guidelines focused on conveying authenticity, linking the magazine ad, digipak, and music video visually and conceptually, and presenting the materials in a natural style. For the magazine ad and digipak, the student used similar imagery of the artist at St. Paul's Cathedral and a mix of fonts to look polished yet personal. Shots of the same location and color palette were used in the music video to further link the elements while maintaining a feeling of authenticity through natural poses, fades between shots, and consideration of the music.
Clara Barroso is producing a short film called "Believe" and has assembled a crew. She will serve as the producer and director to ensure smooth production. Bernardo Lima will model for the film poster representing young characters. Margarida and Joana Goncalves will play main characters representing teenagers and young kids. Roger Bulkeley will provide voiceover by reading the script. Fernando Valezquez's song may be used if permission is granted. Pedro Barroso will assist with lighting using a reflector.
This document provides location details for Praia Fluvial de Merelim beach in Portugal. It will be used to photograph the film poster and shoot footage to include at the end of the short film. The beach has no waves, warm water, and is busy in the summer. Shooting there around sunset provided clear water and shadows, making it the perfect location for the poster image. Permission is not required as it is a public beach. Safety and ensuring the crew does not get injured needs to be considered. It is an hour drive but transporting equipment was not an issue.
This document provides location details for Apúlia beach in Portugal to be used for shooting a short film. The beach is a public location that is 30 minutes from the producer's home, offering different areas to film by the beach and rocks. As it is a public beach, no permissions are needed but safety precautions must be taken around the cliffs and when filming young models. Weather could impact the shoot so planning will be needed to use the location on good days.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. PREVIOUS STUDENT WORK:
JOHNNY FONSECA
Johnny Fonseca
completed his A2
coursework in 2014.
This is the look of
his coursework blog
once you open up. I
have picked his work
to analyse to my own
A2 media studies
coursework, as he did
a short film for his
final year in media
studies and it became
so successful within
the school. I chose
him for the originality
that he put in his own
coursework and final
product.

3. PREVIOUS STUDENT WORK:
JOHNNY FONSECA
He had all his coursework being uploaded onto the blog onto
six different categories, easy for everyone to find his own
work.
Blog Posts…
On the first category, ‘Production Diary’ he
had 37 posts uploaded onto his blog explaining
all the journey from the start of the A2 media
studies coursework all the way to the end and
how he got to it.
On the second category, ‘Constructive
Evidence’ he had uploaded 17 posts. This
category is all based comparison between
drafts and final pieces, audience feedback,
questionnaire and the questionnaire feedback
and analysis from it.
The third category, ‘Planning Evidence’. On
this category, he has uploaded 17 posts. And
these posts are all about audience feedback
from his overall planning, proposal and health
and safety evidence.
4. PREVIOUS STUDENT WORK:
JOHNNY FONSECABlog Posts…
The fourth category is named ‘Research
Evidence’ which includes 16 posts uploaded of
coursework tasks being done. All these are
about purpose of short film, equipment, target
audience, previous student work and etc…
The fifth category is Final Piece’, which is where
he had 3 uploaded posts. These posts is evidence
of the final short film being uploaded on YouTube
and Vimeo by him copying the URL links onto his
account and the final short film poster. All this
including feedback and further information.
The last category, ‘Evaluation’ only includes one
post, which is the final short film evaluation of the
whole short film and coursework explanation
added onto our questions on a magazine format to
make it easier for the audience to read it with
images on the side.
5. PREVIOUS STUDENT WORK:
JOHNNY FONSECA
The category on the “final
piece” includes his short
film “A Vida Doce/The

also along with feedback,
his own magazine page
film review and the film
poster. Both being shown
on portrait mode and
landscape mode. It also
includes feedback from his
target audience. His final
product was well
presented with very
positive feedback. As long
as his short film being
rated as a professional
short film.

6. PREVIOUS STUDENT WORK:
JOHNNY FONSECA
Johnny’s short film was a
short film based in Portugal
and the language spoken on
the short film itself is
Portuguese, however he
decided to add English
subtitles. Overall this would
allow to grow his audience by
the facility of having two of
the most spoken languages
on his short film. Therefore
when it came for him to do
his film posters he did two
different versions, in English
and in Portuguese posters.
Film Posters
Portuguese version
English version
The title font is the same one just like
seen on his short film, this allows the
target audience to recognise the
similarities and the connections between
the film poster and the short film.
The film posters are exactly
the same, the only
differences is the translation
between the slogan and the
reviews are which allows for
the audience, depending on
what language they speak
not having any trouble
understanding what is
written.

also includes big and

professional to

not in Portuguese, as
it seemed the

to be unnecessary
