morphological and physiological variation of fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceri...IJEAB
Nine isolates of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceri infecting chickpea were collected from major chickpea growing areas of Bangladesh and their cultural, morphological, physiological and pathogenic characteristics were described. The isolates varied significantly in their cultural, morphological and physiological traits, i.e. colony color, shape, margin and texture; mycelial radial growth and spore production. Laboratory studies were conducted to study the effect of different culture media, pH and temperature levels on mycelial growth and sporulation of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceri. Mycelial radial growth and sporulation of F. oxysporum was maximum for all the isolates at 25°C after seven days of inoculation, which was reduced drastically below 15°C and above 35°C. No growth and sporulation was observed at 5 °C temperature for all the isolates. The most suitable pH level for growth and sporulation of the fungus was at pH 6.0. The fungus grew well on oat meal agar medium among seven culture media tested. No sporulation was observed on WA medium. The highest number of macro spores (3.27 x 105 ml-1) and micro spores (4.06 x 105 ml-1) were produced on PDA. Among the nine tested isolates, only one isolate (FOC-1) found to be highly virulent (HV) type on reaction on chickpea variety BARI Chola –1.

Determination of the Paper Quality as a Substrate for Oyster Mushroom Cultiva...Dr. siddhant
Eight different kinds of papers, viz., glaze paper, brown paper, news paper, magazine paper, chart paper, kite paper, rough copy paper and A-4 size printing paper, and two types of cardboard viz., corrugated cardboard and card board were evaluated for different manifestations of white oyster
mushroom Pleurotus florida Strain-P1. Among them news paper was later treated as a control. The mushroom was utilized all the substrates for their growth and sporophore formation. Majority substrates were taken almost equal time for spawn run, primordial development and fruiting bodies
maturation. The measured parameters were net yield (Weight of fresh mushrooms), biological efficiency, number of fruiting bodies produced and average weight of sporophores varied among themselves. The crop of mushroom was harvested in three flushes where yield and biological efficiency ranged 190-495 gm, 38-99% for the substrate used. Magazine paper (450 gm; 90%) and card board (495 gm; 99%) produced significant (P=0.05) yield and biological efficiency over control.
They also produced significant number of mushroom fruit bodies (56 and 64, respectively). Corrugated cardboard (10.29 gm) was found significant in terms of average weight per sporocarp. The percentage yield of different substrates was also evaluated. Among the substrates, card board
contributed 14% of total mushroom production followed by magazine paper (13%) and news paper (12%).

Insecticidal Activity of Stem Bark Extract of Lophira Alata Ekki Against Cowp...ijtsrd
Methanolic extract of Lophira alata was evaluated for its efficacy as contact and fumigant insecticides on cowpea bruchid, Callosobruchus maculatus in the laboratory at ambient tropical conditions of temperature and relative humidity. The plant powder tested was applied at rates 0.0 control , 2.0 g and 3.0 g 20 g of cowpea seeds either directly for contact with the insect pest or in plastic containers to assess its fumigant toxicity. Results of contact toxicity assay showed that powders of L. alata was effective against the adult C. maculatus causing 90 mortality 4.00 ± 0.57 within 2 days of application at 3.0 g 20 g of cowpea seeds as compared with 90 mortality 5.38 ± 0.50 recorded on day 4 of 2.0 g concentration application. The results of fumigant assays showed that L. alata had the highest insecticidal activity causing 95 mortality of C. maculatus within 4 days of application at rate 3.0 g 20g of cowpea seeds in contrast to 80 mortality recorded in 96 hrs of 2.0g concentration application. The phytochemical screening of the plant revealed alkaloids, saponins, glycosides, phytosterols, tannis, flavonoids and terpenoids while reducing sugar was absent. This study showed that the tested plant product is toxic to cowpea bruchid and the powders can be mixed with cowpea seeds to prevent hatching of the eggs thereby helping in their management. 20. Agaricus mushroom – most popular mushroom in
Mauritius
Research on Agaricus mushroom cultivation started
in the 1970’s was abandoned due to the requirement
of sophisticated and expensive technologies
Since then, no further research and cultivation
attempts have been conducted to cultivate button
mushrooms locally
20
21. Preference for Agaricus mushroom rather than the
locally produced Pleurotus mushroom
Unavailability of a cultivation package for Agaricus
Availability of several tropical and sub tropical
strains of Agaricus from foreign mycological
laboratories
Use of potential locally available materials for
Agaricus cultivation
Reuse of agro wastes - reduce the level of pollution
caused through dumping of these wastes in the
environment
21
22. Introduction of strains of Agaricus spp.
Identification of suitable agar media, pH and incubation
temperatures for growth of button mushroom mycelium
Identification of suitable substrates, supplementation
materials and substrate mixtures for cultivation of
Agaricus mushroom
Determination of effect of composting on growth of
mushroom mycelium
Development of a mother spawn and spawn production
protocol of Agaricus mushroom
Economic analysis for the cultivation package proposed
and provide a cultivation package of Agaricus
22
23. A number of activities has been proposed to achieve the
objectives
Introduction of strains of Agaricus
Assessment of in vitro behaviour of Agaricus on agar media
at different temperatures and pH.
Assessment of in vitro performance of the strains on
different substrate materials
Study of the effect of different supplementation materials on
in vitro performance of the mushroom strains
Preparation of appropriate formulations of mother spawn
and spawn of Agaricus mushroom
Preparation of appropriate compost formulations and
management of fructification
23
24. Introduction of strains of Agaricus & successful
sub culturing on agar media
Agaricus bitorquis
Agaricus blazei
Agaricus bisporus
24
Strains growing on agar media
25. Assessment of in vitro behavior of strains
growing on different agar media such as
Potato dextrose agar, malt extract agar, corn meal
agar, potato carrot agar, oat meal agar, wheat agar,
potato dextrose yeast agar
Chemical analysis of potential substrates to
determine
Nitrogen, potassium, sodium, calcium, phosphorus,
magnesium, manganese, selenium, boron, iron, zinc,
molybdenum, copper
