Question 4 -How did you
use media technologies in
your project? Planning
and research
I used www.WordPress.co.uk , a blogging website, to upload all my recent activity and my
research and planning. I uploaded many other social realism trailers that I could analyse and
study before I started to plan my own trailer, by uploading and analysing these it helped me
to decide what genre I wanted to include in my own trailer.
I also used WordPress to upload the progress of my film trailer and ancillary products, this
helped me because it allowed me to have feedback from my friends and teachers as I went
along. WordPress helped me with my research and planning as well because I could look at
other peoples blogs in my year and study there ideas as well.
WordPress was easy to use when it came to uploading my products, I could clearly show and
explain the stages I was taking during my project.
Google is the most used search engine.
Google proved to be one of the most helpful technologies whilst I was planning and
researching for my trailer. Firstly I used google to research the proper meaning of social
realism and to research the full story behind ‘Billy Elliot’ and ‘Fish Tank’.
Google was where I found the outline template for my story board, on google I also
looked for other storyboard and study their ideas to try and incorporate into mine.
Google has lots of positives for example it is quick and easy when you know what you
are looking for and provides you with useful answers and help, however using school on
the school computers isn’t always easy as a lot of the stuff I wanted to research on social
realism was blocked, I over came this by continuing research on my home computer.
You tube again was one of the main technologies I relied on when researching and
planning. When I knew what genre I wanted my trailer to be I searched on Wikipedia and
YouTube for social realism films.
I relied on YouTube because the ‘Billy Elliot’ and ‘Fish Tank’ trailers I needed to watch were
on here, they were free and easily accessible. These trailers were the ones I focused on
analysing for my research and planning.
The good thing about YouTube is it allowed me to easily embed any videos onto my
blog, however sometimes you tube would take a while to upload my own personal trailer
clips therefore I struggled to keep up to date on my blog.
