Q4. Who would be your
audience for your media
product?

By Jacqueline Dongwe
I think that my music magazine, “Revolt” portrays well
the features of the music market of the Hip – Hop genre.
My audience will be the people who are of the ages of 16 –
30 year olds meaning that it be aimed at the older
teenagers who are in transition into becoming young
mature adults who trying to build their confidence and
become independent.
My magazine will appeal to the audience who have a common
interest in the activities which are involved in the Hip Hop
world of music. They will get more understanding and
knowledge of who are the newcomers of the industry, new
albums and singles, interviews, competitions and many more.

Artists
The typical audience for my music magazine is British and/or
American ethnicity. The reason for this is because I think that
Hip-Hop magazines should appeal to all people from different
ethnicities, and there should be a mixture of Black, White and
Asian readers. However, in my magazine I have stayed with
the images of black American and British models because I
thought that it would be a good way to start of my magazine.
However, I have tried to appeal to all ethnicities in some ways
such as artists on the front cover (cover lines etc.).
Here are the stats of the
demographics of readers in a
Hip Hop magazine (XXL).
I obtained this information in
order to me in my audience
research and because it is the
same genre as my own
magazine.

What the stats shows
With the help of the information I obtain I have being able to make some
assumptions of my targeted audience.
• They are most likely to be buyers within the age range of 21-29 and
most of the buyers of my magazine will be males.
• How they are mostly likely to look like and dress code.
• The buyers of my magazine will like listen to music (mostly Hip
Hop).
• The audience will have to like competitors, concerts, freebies.
• The audience who are mostly likely to be on social networks most
often.
