Target Audience Profile
Representing my Target
      Audience.
Target Audience Profile
My target audience for my music magazine are ranging from the
ages 16 and over. Also this magazine is a unisex publication.

The types of people that’ll be attracted to my magazine are those
who are obviously interested in hip-hop. This is because I can
relate to this meaning this is one of my favourite genres. So I
know how the bases of how hip-hop magazines look. Also the
type of people who are into hip-hop magazines are those who
are outgoing and full of life.

Looking at the JINCARS scale the type of people who will read this
magazine are those who are C1, C2, D and E. These group are
the type of people who are; cleaners, agencies, carpenters,
teachers, retail workers etc. I say this because group A and B
probably wouldn’t have time to read magazines let alone hip-
hop magazines, unless that is their hobbies.
Target Audience Profile
Demographics of my music magazine:

Age: 16+ - This is because language may be used are at a higher level of
   understanding.

Gender: Male and Female – this is because the magazine talks about both
  genders.

Race: All types of race but particularly black – the reason why in particular
black people is because hip-hop was created by African American
  people which are black people.

Nationality: USA and UK – this is because this hip-hop artist was known
worldwide and this may be an exciting magazine for them.

Religion: All types – the reason for this is because it doesn’t violate any
   religious views.

The gratifications through features of my magazine are; Competition,
   Gossip, Free Downloads, Exclusive Interview
Task
Sections/articles that could be presented in the publication:

- Gossip – this will also attract the audience because they’ll
like to see what is the cause of what has happened.

- Top 10 music in the charts – this information is interesting
for the audience this is because it shows the latest song.

- Competition – win an iPad: this will attract my target
audience since this generation stereotypically are
interested in gadgets and the iPad is a known gadget.

- Exclusive interview – this exclusive interview will be very
interesting for those who are a big fan of hip-hop. The
interviewee will be a known hip-hop artist. Which will
attract people reading my music magazine.
Features.
For the layout off my music magazine and from what I have seen
   from other hip-hop influenced magazine such as Vibe and XXL;
the artists take a medium close up shot. And this is the artist that
will be exclusively interviewed. Plus my magazine is a limited
edition magazine. Also the artists have a tough face with
piercing eyes which is almost intimidating.

The colour scheme used in hip-hop music magazines are mainly
red, black, gold, white. Red can be associated with desire, a
sexual feel due to how hip-hop portrays and objectify women.
Black shows the dark side to hip-hop. Gold shows connotations
  of wealth and riches.

Also in hip-hop magazines colloquial language is used, for
example they use words such as ‘wicked’.

The typography used in the masthead, articles, sub heading etc.
Are there to crab the audiences attention.
Reader Profile
The type of advertising I would encourage to be on my
magazine are, hip-hop artists who are featured in movies,
new/out in store albums, concert dates.
Editor
Surveys

If I was to work with the editor of my magazine I would find links
between other part takers of my magazine. For me to condone
in a sponsorship both our needs and wants should be met; they
would want in return for me to advertise them. Which would be
me compromising as well as them. Which leads to one good
     turn deservers another.

I would work with the editors so that the language used will attract
the target audience. As well as intrigue the audience with
   features.
Extension Task
PROTO - TEEN

Top of the Pops relates to this music fan profile. The reason why this magazine
appeals to Top of the Pops is because the age range is from 7-12. As well as
they like listening to Atomic Kitten and Westlife, which are pop groups.

RUDE BOY

The magazine that relates to this music fan profile is XXL, this is a hip-hop
magazine. The reason why I know XXL music magazine relates to this is
because he is into hip-hop, drum ‘n’ bass and a bit of R&B. Also the age range is
   13-19.

RECOVERING ROCKER

Rock magazine relates to this music fan profile. I know this because this music fan
profile tells me that the fan like to listen to music from the 60’s. The ages that
are interested in this from this profile are 50 and over.

The stereotyping from these music fan profile suggest that roughly these ages
mentioned are interested in these genres or magazines. Also the stereotypical
demographics doesn’t necessarily mean that people who are represented in the
   profiles means its true.
