TV LISTINGS
Within various different TV listings we have looked at for student
magazines. It is clear that there is patterning; codes and conventions which
are followed in TV listings in order to engage the audience. From looking
at multiple student examples it has helped us hugely to understand what it
is that needs to be included in our own TV listings.
We need to ensure we follow codes and conventions while sticking to our
documentary genre, this will therefore ensure our documentary and TV
listing correspond with each other.
Drop Cap:
This is a code and convention which most TV
listings use. It is used to begin the story and it
helps engage the audience.
Main Title:
Allows the audience to know what the story is
about, can encourage the reader to read it if it is
engaging.
Date:
Important as part of codes and conventions to
include the date it has been published.
By Line:
Follows codes and conventions of TV listings,
show who it is written by.
Grab Quotes:
These are codes and conventions again, it
allows the audience to have an insight
into the story. Can help engage the
audience and know what the story is
about.
Story:
Important the story has good relation to
the genre itself in order to keep the
relation between the documentary, radio
and magazine likewise.
Channel Title:
Understand where the TV listing is going
to be published.
Page Numbers:
Code and conventions of TV listing.
Within all 3 of the student magazines
which we have looked at. I have found
various codes and conventions which
we need to follow in order to create a
good TV listing.
We have took on various ideas from
both student magazines and ideas we
had ourselves in order to produce a
good quality double page spread.
